it’s well worth the read, but I stand by my belief that James has not only the stones to say what he feels, but I think now, more than ever, that he’s in control of what he wants and what he doesn’t, as far as his relationship with TPTB are concerned. Now, more than ever, I’m totally convinced that he is so much in demand as the #1 actor on DOOL that they (TPTB) would go along with just about anything he wants. Anyway, whether or not that’s true, this is a great interview:

I respected your decision to cut off your hair after Sami plugged you in the brain because it was more realistic. Lesli Kay did that, too, when her B&B character was battling cancer.
JS: I’m glad you mentioned that Lesli Kay did that. If the show wants to tackle a serious subject and they’re not going to tell it respectfully then they can go [screw themselves]. Don’t have me battling leukemia, and then three months later, I look like I just came back from the hair salon. That message doesn’t sit very well with viewers who are dealing with that problem. It also doesn’t give much integrity to the show. It just looks like you’re trying hijack an issue long enough to pull the heartstrings … and then bugger off in another direction.
Sounds like James has read the board comments about lack of realism.
February 19, 2011 at 1:25 pm #21030PattiParticipantof why I think James is holding the cards regarding the type(s) of roles he will or will not play, and how he will portray that role. He’s very outspoken with his opinions, and doesn’t care how they affect his "stardom". He’ll say what he has to say, play what he wants to play, and they’ll either do it his way or "they can go [screw themselves]" ….. only I’ll bet he didn’t say "screw." LOL. I must say, I will never feel about E.J. the way some do, but I do have to give James credit for knowing who he is and where he stands, and really do believe that he is a credit to his profession.
February 19, 2011 at 2:33 pm #21038caseyParticipantto read a really controversial article where a grousing JS was slamming Days brass. But I didn’t find it that way at all. JS said he was very happy at Days, would be happy to stay longer, and his criticisms didn’t strike me as anything over the top.
I found it quite refeshing.
PS. Anyone who grieves over the loss of his dog can’t be all bad!February 19, 2011 at 2:37 pm #21039BonbonParticipantIf he is holding all the cards, why would he have said in that previous interview how unhappy he was with the way his character is being written? I would think, if that were the case, he’d be able to dictate what direction he wants them to go with EJ.
I’ll say one thing though, the more interviews he does (that I read), the further he falls on my esteem meter. And they (the interviews) really make me believe he has a much bigger ego than he should have.
Also, I think his mouth needs a good washing out. I don’t think it’s necessary to use that kind of language, that he always seems to use, when you are going to be quoted for all your fans to read.
February 19, 2011 at 3:12 pm #21043PattiParticipantbecause his contract is up for renewal in May, and yes, he is happy at Days for now, but that does not suggest to me that he wouldn’t walk if E.J. were written in a way as something that JS might not want him to be. I think James likes playing the villain, yes, but not to the extreme. I believe he would not want to be made any more despicable than he already is, and possibly that’s why right now he’s on the road to redemption. At this point in his career, I don’t think that Sony or Corday Productions or anyone involved in a power position with DOOL would even DARE to think about firing James Scott (not that it’s ever been mentioned by them to do so) for fear of blowing themselves right out of the water. Hell, the guy was just voted TV Guide’s "Sexiest Man Alive" for the 2011 soap hunks award (Days Brandon Beemer (Shawn Douglas) won it last year), and with the acting talent that James definitely brings to the table, it seems to me he needs to bow to no one, and he knows it. Even ABC’s head honcho, Brian Frons, stated that they made a mistake by firing James from All My Children. So, I think James will leave when James gets tired of acting as a profession, (barring any severe illness or accident) and not before then.
February 19, 2011 at 3:16 pm #21044PattiParticipantand with masterminding the sydnapping, especially where he had to put Sydney’s bloody clothes in the water. He said in one instance that he as well as Allison went round and round with the writers as well as KC about it, and yes back then TPTB won. I’m not so sure they would today.
February 19, 2011 at 3:43 pm #21045justwonderingParticipantHe could leave tomorrow and it wouldn’t phase me. I really don’t like EJ and after reading some of his interviews, I am not real fond of James either. He might be the sexiest soap man of 2011 but there is always someone new waiting in the wings. After all, where is Brandon Beemer these days?
February 20, 2011 at 12:55 pm #21068SWParticipantgetting paid junkets to Italy to do promos for the show there! It is the #1 show in Italy. So he now works less hours and probably gets better pay and fringe benefits.
