Days of our Lives is looking to add a new character to its ranks. The show is casting the 40something actress to play the role of a special prosecutor.

It looks like one Salem resident will soon find themselves on the wrong side of the law. Days of our Lives has just issued a casting call for a special prosecutor.

The prosecutor, named Melinda Trask, is described as "tough, intelligent and confident." DAYS is seeking an experienced African American or Asian actress in the 35- to 50-year-old range."

There’s no word yet on when the character will appear on-screen, however, due to DAYS’ accelerated tape schedule, the new role probably won’t debut until May Sweeps.

what if they put out a casting call for a White, Caucasian actress?  Why does she have to be African American or Asian?

I bet she will be a love interest for Abe, unless it’s a short-lived role.

I thought you were asking us to try and figure out who the Salem resident is who is on the wrong side of the law! I was going to guess Nick or Will (because Nick ratted on him).

who will be the Salemite to finally be prosecuted, and will this woman prosecutor be around long enough to actually get involved with someone.  Goodness knows, the show needs an actress in this age group (40-something).  However you look at it, I thought of Nick right away, since we all are being made aware of the REAL Nick Fallon and what he is doing or trying to do to Will.  I do NOT believe it’s going to have anything to do with the custody of Gabi and Will’s baby, but I can easily see Nick going off the deep end and getting revenge if Will either wins sole or shared custody of the baby when Nick’s true intentions come out, and I am practically sure that they will.  Then, again, it could be John, who will be returning at some point and certain to be going after Kristen or even Stefano.  Lots of other possibilities, but too soon to consider until more of their story lines come out.  Maybe Jen will go off the deep end and do something to harm Chloe, or vice-versa, which would be fine with me since their storyline is on my last nerve anyway.

If Nick comes forth with his evidence of Will being the actual shooter of EJ, that could become a big thing.  It could even be Gabi for her cover-up of the kidnapping of Melanie.

Geeze, there are a lot of felons in Salem, aren’t there?

I think Jennifer has already ‘gone off the deep end’.  She acts ‘nuts’ concerning Daniel and trying to keep Chloe away from him.  I am so weary of their storyline.

I hope I can express myself in a way that does not insult or offend anyone.  I was born in 1942, and the TV shows and movies that I saw in the late 1940s and throughout the 1950s did not portray African-Americans or Asians in positions of authority.  For you younger people reading this, back then they were called "colored people" and "Oriental people".  On TV, they portrayed a handyman, a trash collector (garbage man) or a gardener, etc.  When the civil rights movement took hold in the 1960s, TV and movies began to expand on the ethnic groups that were given regular employment in the entertainment field.  Over the years, people of all races began to be stars of TV shows and movies–not just small, supporting roles.  I recall DOOL having white actresses play the part of prosecutors in the past, and I believe that this is just a way to diversify.  Also, like it was mentioned before, she could become a love interest for Abe Carver.  DOOL was one of the first, if not the first, to have an interracial couple back in the 1960s, I believe.
