I just think of Steven Tyler and the feathers in his hair.
December 1, 2011 at 12:29 am #29240trykeryderParticipantThose darts were WAY too high. The dress just didn’t fit thru the bust and that may be because her bra didn’t fit. Or it could be that is the way it was designed. Either way, it didn’t look good.
I did love the lace inset, tho.
December 1, 2011 at 4:02 pm #29249mommytutuParticipantDidn’t realize I was so old! I don’t feel old, lol! Either way, she needs to get something else going underneath that dress. She could have been on What Not To Wear with that outfit!
December 1, 2011 at 4:59 pm #2925153tdogsParticipantdays are over, remember (even when we were young we had to wear them to hold up our nylons???? – if ya didn’t wear a garter belt to hold them up?) NO one remembers? No one? Nylons? They came in pairs and "ran" ? No one?
December 1, 2011 at 6:50 pm #29255Suzy-QParticipantWell, at least the pantyhose kind, not the garter belt kind. I still wear pantyhose every Sunday when I dress up for church. I’m just not a "bare leg" kind of gal when it comes to dressing up. Besides, the control top keeps everything nice and smooth and tucked in nicely. IMO there’s nothing worse than seeing bulges and panty lines under a pretty dress. Let’s face it, most of us need a little help in that area since we’re not all a size 2 with only 5% body fat.
December 1, 2011 at 7:00 pm #29256dvalParticipantSpanx is what they call "figure smoothing" or some such nonsense just so they don’t call it a girdle, LOL.
December 1, 2011 at 9:02 pm #29258BonbonParticipantI hated those girdles and I wore one even though I was so skinny you could almost see through me. The garter belts were worse than the girdles. And the nylons with seams? Trying to get them on and straight…what a mess.
As far as pantyhose goes, living in Florida, I can’t remember the last time I had them on. I even went to a formal Marine Ball and a formal wedding (of course I had on a long dress) with bare legs.
One good thing about the nylons, if you got a run in one, you could still save the other one. Not so with panythose, one run or snag and you’ve got to buy a new pair. Although, I have a friend that just cuts the one leg off and waits until she has another pair with a run and puts them both on. I’m not THAT frugal.
Actually, I wanted to put some of my orchids in my trees and the best way to do that until they take root there is to tie them with pantyhose. Alas, I have none so the poor orchids are still in their pots and they hate it. (Yes, they told me so!)
December 1, 2011 at 9:09 pm #29261annieoParticipantI also remember how ungodly uncomfortable it was – it was probably worse than wearing a girdle or spanx because it was a double control top! Makes me suck in my stomach just thinking about it!
December 1, 2011 at 9:11 pm #29262DebbiParticipantJust wash and dry as you always do. Can’t use conditioner right where it attaches, as that can make it slip out. Not a problem for me, I have mine right on the top near the roots and only condition the ends of my hair. You can dry it with a blow dryer, and you can even curl or flat iron them, if you use those tools for your style. I have to replace it, every other month as the hair grows. Actually, we just take it out and put it back in, higher up. Does all this make sense and answer your questions! I love my pink feather!
December 1, 2011 at 10:10 pm #29265DeeLanParticipantShe could have just worn a cami top or full slip. Oh wait I don’t think they wear slips anymore either.
December 1, 2011 at 10:43 pm #29268caseyParticipantmy mother thinks it’s a cardinal sin to not wear a slip!
December 2, 2011 at 12:41 am #2927553tdogsParticipantsuch a big girl when at our 6th grade Christmas pageant in school (Yes, Virginia a long, long, long time ago in schools school children use to sing Christmas carols ), wearing my first garter belt and nylons – couldn’t wear a girdle because they didn’t make ’em for kids, but later on when I got into high school (way before bra burning in 1973ish), girdles were yanked on for school and then yanked off an hour later again if you were unlucky enough to draw first period PE class (something else you young whippersnappers didn’t ever have to contend with), PE class, and those ugly PE class uniforms! Ahhhhhhhhhhh the good ol’ days…
December 2, 2011 at 1:57 am #29278BonbonParticipantand I don’t think those were darts. There was a seam that went all the way up to her shoulder. And, yeah, the lace inset was very pretty.
December 2, 2011 at 2:40 am #29283luckeyParticipanthad a hilarious bit about Spanx and girdles. The younger gals were so into the Spanx and Betty kept calling it a girdle. The sparring back and forth was really funny!
December 2, 2011 at 4:10 am #29287caseyParticipantPE bloomers!
