Surely if John Clarke was asked & agreed to ‘make an appearance’ for the Xmas episodes (like they do with Doug & Julie), the news would have leaked out by now. But wouldn’t that be a kick? Would surely make my heart sing for those moments!!
Then we’d be in for a let down, as Mickey is not seen again. Showing the old photo of Mickey allows us to remember him as he was … thereby keeping him youthful (since Maggie is forever youthful). Writing a death story is sad but does open up new avenues for Maggie to travel. Oh, the possibilities — returning children maybe, or changing careers ??
December 7, 2009 at 1:50 pm #8168imported_JennMParticipantI don’t see John Clarke returning – ever. Had some inside info on that when he left for good. Don’t hold your breath for it.

December 7, 2009 at 4:19 pm #8174caseyParticipantWho does NBC send these surveys to? I recall getting a few some time ago but nothing to do with Days.
December 7, 2009 at 4:24 pm #8175caseyParticipantI agree, I think Maggie’s possible tumble from the wagon would be a great counterpoint to her being seen as the strong one. Show that alcoholism is a never ending battle and even being sober for years doesn’t mean a cure. Give this actress something other than interfering or “mothering” and show her as a human with temptations and faults. If written with power, this has the potential to be high drama. And I love the idea of Lucas turning the tables to help his sponsor and friend. Maggie could come out even stronger than ever and could also give some maturity to the ever adolescent Lucas.
December 7, 2009 at 4:30 pm #8177BonbonParticipantThe way it came across at the site I was posting in at the time, the underlying reason he left was because of the way all the veteran characters were getting the axe and he wanted to get out while the getting was good. Now if there were a different reason, it could be perfectly plausible.
BUT…if they would take Vivian back after her childish behavior, I’m sure they’d take anyone back. They also rehired Jennifer after she had walked off the set with no warning. I think, all-in-all, TPTB on Days are pretty forgiving.
December 9, 2009 at 12:50 am #8217CatLady54ParticipantI think the reason he left was because he wasn’t happy when the y "killed" off Maggie and he wasn’t thrilled about being hooked up with Bonnie! And he probably saw the cowboy suit he was going to have to wear when Bonnie took over the resturant!
December 9, 2009 at 12:30 pm #8225BonbonParticipantI think that other guy (Can’t remember his name now but appeared to be pretty old. He came from some other soap.) whas playing Mickey at that time.
December 10, 2009 at 8:34 am #8264PunkyParticipantI signed up to be on the survey panel and I receive ones directly related to Days every few months.
December 11, 2009 at 12:23 pm #8306June66watcherParticipantwas Edward Quartermaine from General Hospital (who has a highly acclaimed acting history, but was a total mis-cast for the role as Mickey)
December 11, 2009 at 1:58 pm #8314BarbParticipantJohn Clarke has been asked, but has been ailing himself, so unless Days plans to spring another "secret" filming as they did with LeAnn Hunley (Anna) he will not be appearing. And supposedly, there are no plans to "kill him off". Both he & Frances Reid have lifetime contracts and have been with the show since Day 1. If Alice is still alive and unseen, same will go for Mickey. Kevin Dobson is no longer, evidently, going to be used as Mickey, which is why we saw the pictures.
Maybe the Christmas show is going to show flashbacks…as some storm is going to prevent Mickey from getting back to Salem in time to celebrate Christmas.
Maggie’s big story involves Melanie, I believe, as the two were interviewed together at Day of Days event, and it was Melanie who was gushing over the "huge" story Maggie was doing and how wonderful she was in it.
December 11, 2009 at 3:22 pm #8316mommytutuParticipantI also receive them. I think you have to sign up on the NBC website.
December 14, 2009 at 2:50 am #8412ErinParticipantHeaven forbid…Mickey has been away so much on "business", maybe she finds out he’s been having an affair.
December 15, 2009 at 2:29 pm #8454PattiParticipanton three sites so far: DR; Soaptown USA; and another I can’t remember (maybe Daytime Confidential), that Mickey Horton will die in January, 2010, of natural causes, and Maggie will be the one to find him. The beginning of a truly dramatic storyline for Suzanne Rogers, I’m sure, although the possibility of Maggie falling off the wagon with even more tragedy because of it is still in the rumor stage this time (guess they don’t want to give everything away all at once). However, Mickey’s death is a certainty. Afterward, it seems Maggie’s story will involve a host of other characters who will get involved in her bout with her own destiny, and all I can say is, boy, I’m really looking forward to watching this storyline. Should take DOOL to a whole new level in the ratings, because I know for sure that Suzanne Rogers will knock this out of the park; maybe even winning an Emmy, which I have no doubt she will richly deserve. So, congratulations DOOL and keep em’ coming writers, and without a doubt you’ll find DOOL #2 in the ratings, all by itself, slowly creeping up on a very boring, practically dieing, Y&R right now.
December 15, 2009 at 3:24 pm #8455BonbonParticipantI’m wondering how they can kill Mickey off if John Clarke has a lifetime contract. The only way they would be able to do that is if he has agreed to let them out of it. Although I do think it would make for one heck of a storyline for Suzanne. And, yes, I agree Patti, if anyone can do it, she can.
December 15, 2009 at 3:42 pm #8458mommytutuParticipantBonbon, I think this has been discussed before, but John Clarke’s contract is not necessarily like the contract the others on the show have. Given that he quit the show, there is no lifetime contract. He didn’t take leave of the show, which may have made the issue different. Seeing as though they haven’t put the character of Mickey to use, except as a stand in, I think this story will be awesome.
