The woman we got him from said he was born september 7th which makes him 8 weeks today but we think he’s younger because he can’t hold his head or upper body up without shaking like he’s got Parkinsen’s and when he walks he takes a few steps then stumbles over his feet and falls on his side or face first.  Looks like lack of coordination and muscle control right now but the vet will tell us how hold he is.

I saw him on facebook!  He is sooo adorable!  Congrats!  Thats what my Taco looked like  when he was a baby only he’s all brown.  but I think he’s part weiner dog too.  he’s cute like yours, much cuter than most chihauhau’s. (sp?).    My friend has a long haired weiner dog and she looks like yours.

adopted/rescued older dogs as no one seems to want them because they have a few miles on them.  There is a lot of life left in these older poochies and they have so much love.  All they want it is a little food in their tummies and a warm place to sleep and someone to look them in their old brown (sometimes hazy) eyes and tell them what a good doggie they are and a pat on the head.  God bless all the angel old doggies and sweet old people – they have a lot of love to still give!

They just adopted a new puppy too and it is the cutest thing.  They think she is part Chihuahua and Terrier and said she looks like one of the gremlins, Mugwai, but since that was too hard to pronounce, they named her Maggie.  She is just soooooo cute.  Well, not as cute as Rascal.

the right size for the whole family!

I had to laugh at Bill wanting a big dog.  That would be a sight.  He’s such a hoot.  We’d see the dog walking Bill.

a big doggie.  Although, I did have a neighbor once who weighed about 90lbs soaking wet and she had a 140 lb Bull Mastiff.  He was well trained or else she would have never been able to walk him.  And he was a very gentle dog, my three Cocker Spaniel girls, at the time, just loved him!

gental giants – you sure wouldn’t be afraid to walk down a block at night with one of them either – great deterrent to the bad guys!  Having one in your back yard and house would be better than a burglar alarm too!

It seems like all the REALLY big dogs are so gentle.  The Irish Wolfhound, the Newfies, and all those big guys.  It’s the little ones like the Chihuahuas, Jack Russels, and the little terriers you gotta look out for.  Yes, I know there are exceptions.  It’s like pit bulls.  All-in-all, they are sweetie pies but you get one that IS agressive and it’s probably the most dangerous dog there is.

my little Cocker Spaniel girls – and they backed down.  I even had a friend who had a Rottie and Chihuhahua (sp) that in their house the Chi ruled the roost!  I really think it depends on the person who is raising and giving the dog love – you can take a Cocker Spaniel and turn it vicious (I’m into Cocker rescue and have seen it all) and a Pittie can be just a little loving baby dog all it’s life depending on what the circumstances are…I’m of the mind "There are no bad dogs, just bad people who raise or hurt them to be bad dogs".  If it were up to me Vick would be on his way to hell with no return ticket.  But then I like dogs much better than I like some people.

Have you ever watched Dogs 101?  They said Chihuahuas its the nature of the breed to be the "big dog" and rule over the other dogs.  They don’t seem to realize how small they are.

Yesterday I got this magazine in the mail that had some pets for adoption.  There was a little 7lb. Poodle that I am soooo tempted to adopt.  If it hadn’t been that I just ordered the pups’ flea and heartworm meds, I probably would have.  Between the meds, food, vet bills, grooming, etc. dogs are not cheap.  I keep a spreadsheet of all my expenses during the year and, so far, I’ve spent $500 on two little dogs.  And that didn’t include anything out of the ordinary.  And I groom Frostie myself so that saves me a couple hundred a year.

When I first told Don about the little puppy that nobody wanted his first reaction was "we can’t afford another dog"  He said the day to day for food and such was no problem but the vet bill for shots and such will break us.  We use CareCredit for dental and vet if we need to.  Last February we got both dogs their shots, heartworm biscuits and teeth cleaned (Stretch’s breath will gag a maggot and she needs her teeth cleaned at LEAST every year but they try to talk us into 6 month intervals).  Cost was a little over $700 and that isn’t including the subsequent heartwork biscuits and 3 months of Comfortis for fleas on both dogs PLUS treating the carpet and furniture.
