Good Grief – could they have made the Midol Commercial any more blatant? It was just so out of the blue!
On another note – loved seeing Calliope again – I loved her and Eugene back in in the Day! And loved the flashback with Anna – she was/is a gorgeous woman. Wasn’t it Calliope’s wedding dress that had flashing lights? Eugene and Calliope were always good for a laugh – and we definitely could use more laughs on the show these days. I enjoyed the interchange between Will and Chad – actually much more than the same ole, same ole EJ/Sami dialog. Make up your mind Sami!
May 7, 2010 at 1:33 am #12738mama_freeParticipantThe whole Midol thing was really weird. I really like the show with some of the older/former characters like Anna, Calliope. I had stopped watching for awhile some years back, but when they brought Stefano and Tony back, I was thrilled. I thought Chad & Will were good today, too. I also liked when Will was talking to Sami.
May 7, 2010 at 2:50 am #1273953tdogsParticipanthowever, guessing – now that Will is once again chatting with Sami – what in the world does Sami use as an excuse for staying in the mansion? Take the kids and run Sami! (and I’m an EJ fan but no good can come of this)…love that Rafe is getting to get Anna – going to be verrrrrrrrrrrrrry interesting!
Calliope and Eugene were way before my Days time – but it was so very cool to see Anna as a younger lady – she is/was beautiful.
May 7, 2010 at 3:56 am #12740GoodyParticipantwas unexpected, but I guess that 2 sisters might have such a conversation in real life. Anyway, I didn’t mind the ad very much.
Funny, but I had kind of forgotten the distinctive sound of Calliope’s voice. Good to see her again.

Don’t we have enough commercials (20 minutes worth!) as it is? But the worst part is what they are touting. Come on, Midol for Pete’s sake? GMAB!
May 7, 2010 at 12:47 pm #12751PattiParticipantif it meant cutting down on the televised commercials. Actually, I think the product has more effect on the consumer if they see someone drinking a can of Coke, or seeing the box of Cheerios on the breakfast table, so if it would take the show from 40/20 (40 minutes of show…20 minutes of commercials) down to say 50/10, it would be worth it. They could have just as easily taken a Midol packet out of a purse as well. Most people (or at least I know I do) either get up from the TV and do something else during a commercial, or channel-surf, so what are they selling if no one is watching?
May 7, 2010 at 6:55 pm #12766zsuzsaParticipantThe Midol commercial was like the little obvious ads on The Biggest Loser. Since the show has had money problems, maybe Ali suggested it as a revenue booster. I really like the new Will, and the exchange with Chad was good. I loved the discussion he had with Sami. He’s right on the money. Sami said that she and Will grew up together, but I think one of the got stuck, and it wasn’t Will!
May 7, 2010 at 7:16 pm #12768jewelgalParticipantThe Midol commercial was sooooooooooooooo WEIRD. The close up on the package of Midol….I bet those actresses HATED doing that part. Or else they were laughing their you know what’s off.
May 7, 2010 at 8:40 pm #1277553tdogsParticipantwomen writer’s write that segment or did the male writer’s contribute as well, or were they in the corner cringing? I don’t have sisters but my girlfriends and I (many years ago) had similar conversations many a time! I’m just not to sure in the middle of a public place (like a bar) would have had the conversation and put the box on the top of the bar like that.
May 7, 2010 at 9:12 pm #12787annieoParticipantThey had to leave it in the box so as to not mix it up with the Alka Seltzer box. The men will get to use that product placement next week. LOL
May 10, 2010 at 1:39 am #12824majencoParticipantAt first I had to rewind because I was like "Did she just say she had cramps?" and then she whips out the big box of Midol from behind the bar! The actress who plays Gabbi looked mortified and as if she were about to crack up.
May 10, 2010 at 11:47 am #12828BonbonParticipanthave you ever seen this happen on any other show? Sure, they use product placement frequently but an actual commercial with dialog? IMO, they’ve stepped over the line…again. I forgot, what was the last one they did? Wasn’t it some kind of feminine product also. I remember they did it at the sorority house.
May 10, 2010 at 12:06 pm #12830DeeLanParticipantProduct placement within a show with dialogue is something they started doing more within the last couple of years. Eureka’s big sponsor was Degree and they had a whole storyline written around it where they were working on a new antipersperant and used it to protect a couple of the characters in a story where there was a second son and it was too close to the earth and exposures to the high temps were instant death. On Psych they had duncan donuts and had them at the cop shop quite often.
