I just saw on Twitter that Freddie Smith stopped taping 2 weeks ago. Nothing official has been announced by Days yet, but here is the link to the article.

I’m bummed, I really like his performance as Sonny. GAs much as I wouldn’t have minded Guy Wilson leaving because Will’s been such a jerk, Freddie’s leaving is disappointing. I hope they recast the role!

Both done. Molly stopped taping in December and Freddie last airdate will be around August I believe I read.
I would rather see leave than Freddie. But, I knew we were going to see cast cuts, and so far we will have Melissa Archer (Serena), Molly Burnette (Melanie) and Freddie Smith (Sonny). I just wonder how many others will be shown the door with these cuts. I’m anxious to see if they will re-cast Sonny, though; and, if not, how will this affect Ariana Grace? I see lots of changes coming our way by the time we start seeing the new writers’ work (mid-late August). Hopefully, Xander will be gone by then as well. I wouldn’t mind seeing Nicole get back together with Rafe if things don’t pan out between her and Eric.
sound like it was Freddie’s choice to leave rather than a cast cut. Is that right? I really like him as an actor and will miss him on the show.
If she stopped taping in December, how come we are just finding out about it? What was the point of her returning?
Freddie’s contract is up and it sounds like it was his decision.
It’s too bad they tape so far in advance. It will take till fall for the new writers materail to hit the tv!
They wil have to start taping the anniversary show in May.
We’ve been complaining about Guy Wilson and he’s still there! We lose Molly and Freddie instead. I’m guessing at this rate we’ll have the 50th anniversary show and then Days will be done.
I did read that Molly was leaving, but that she will be returning at some point. Don’t know if she’s working on something else and that she’s just taking a break for it, or if it’s a personal matter, but I do recall seeing this somewhere. Can’t remember where though …
Well, scratch that. I just read Jason47’s comment indicating that Molly only signed on to do 6 months, so that explains it for me. Now, I’m not so sure whatever or wherever I read she would be returning could have been what is commonly referred to as "fanfic". Jason said she will be on screen until the end of May. No explanation about her exit sl though, although I think it’s safe to assume she will leave Salem once the Thrady baby sl comes out. Ugh…are we going to get a Theresa/Brady hook-up after all?
