I forgot to watch last night because I was watching CB and recording something else. I found out Rob won (can’t friggin believe it other than the fact he DID play the game well) from my homepage. I really wanted to hear what Philip’s argument was. Did anybody see it?
May 16, 2011 at 12:44 pm #23731caseyParticipantI concluded that Rob deserved the win. He won 4 challenges including the one he needed where Ashley almost beat him. He had the idol which he didn’t need but altered the game.
I thought initially having Natalie in the final 3 along with Phil might lose it for Rob, but the jury unamiously felt Nat was a clinging wimp who couldn’t do anything without Rob’s approval.
Phil was a real disappointment. After proclaiming his grand stradegy about acting the crazed, get on your nerves guy who everyone wanted to take to the finals, he did not play that out in his speech to the jury. Why didn’t he say it was all his brilliant plan, that he really was nothing like this? He was very defensive instead which did him in.
Had Matt won the final challenge – such a shame after all he’d accomplished – it could have been his victory.
But afterall, Rob won challenges, was good around camp, stuck to his original tribe alliance and manipulated the “sheep.” He played his game like he said he would and outwitted, outplayed and outlasted them all.May 16, 2011 at 12:51 pm #23730PattiParticipanthe truly won it ALL, taking the $100,000 for the audience vote for most popular person (or best player) on the show as well. Can you believe that?????
Philip, we still don’t know if he was a true/blue federal agent, even though they talked to some woman in the audience who was a real federal agent. She "knew" Philip and said he was really smart and knew the entire federal agent manual like he memorized it, but she could not say if he actually worked for them. Maybe he just tested well, who knows, but she said he was smart and just "knew things." I still don’t believe he was ever a real federal agent.
The jury put it on Rob hot and heavy, except for Dan (the attorney). At the end he didn’t talk to the players, he talked directly to the jury, and said they all knew who they should be voting for, because when you came right down to it, it was thought that Rob never pulled any punches, and they knew him and he knew them. He was seen by all as playing the game exactly like it should be played. In other words, "keep your friends close, but your enemies closer," which is why he kept "nimrod" Philip and coat-tails Natalie on with him. Rob knew Natalie was indeed riding on his coattails from day 1, and he also knew within a very short time that people could not stand Philip, and that’s what he was looking for. It’s what he wanted, and it’s why he decided to keep him around.
The jury (except for Ralph, who seemed to genuinely like Philip) came down on Philip like thunder at the final council meeting, and he came down on them as well, especially Julie. He more or less told her and all of them to go to hell, and still continued to b/s people by talking like a man who was completely insane. I truly believe this man is demented or worse. So, once again, to Rob’s advantage, he (Rob) looked like the lesser of two evils. As for Natalie, she didn’t stand a chance. They looked at her like a puppet on a string, which is exactly what she was.
The funniest part for me was after they announced Rob’s win, he ran into the audience and hugged and kissed Amber and his two kids (adorable, by the way), but I swear to you, Bonbon, as soon as he kissed her, he whispered something in her ear and she laughed. I’d like to bet if they had any audio on him or her whatsoever and replayed that moment, he more or less would have been saying: "told you these assholes would be easy" (or words to that effect).
I was watching some old 3 Stooges shows this past weekend, and one of Moe’s lines to Curly was: "you’re the most intelligent imbecile I ever knew." I immediately thought of Philip.
May 16, 2011 at 1:19 pm #23735BonbonParticipantI really hate that I missed it but it’s too long a show to watch it on CBS.com.
May 16, 2011 at 7:34 pm #2375153tdogsParticipantsince the first season, and the only reason I watched is because a great friend of mine said "Oh you have to watch and see how it’s played (and there wasn’t anything I watch on t.v. those two nights anyway).
So I stuck with it and disliked Rob since the first time he opened his mouth. I cannot believe they didn’t vote out that dweeb Phillip when he first opened his mouth. I kept thinking this is where Bugs Bunny would say, "What a maroooooooon!"
As far as I’m concerned non of the finale three should have been there, especially, (and I didn’t know this until last night) that Rob married a Survivor winner…sure people fall in love, but as manipulative as that b_st_ard was/is – I wonder if it was "love". Much rather would have seen Mike (who fought for our country), or Julie, the firefighter who was loosing her home, or Matt, who is becoming a doctor get it than someone like Rob. Well, count me out for next season that was enough to last me another ten seasons.
