My waiting is over!!!! Football season returns with tonight’s preseason opener of my Baltimore Ravens facing the New Orleans Saints here at M&T Bank Stadium. I’m sure most of the veterans, including Joe Flacco, will likely see limited action, but it will give me the chance to see our young players burst into action, fighting for their job and excited beyond belief to play in the NFL. So, bring it Ravens —- let’s get this party started. Good Luck, and welcome back NFL Football!!!!! GOOOOOOO RAVENS!!!!!
August 14, 2015 at 3:18 pm #47964PattiParticipantthat was an exciting game for a pre-season opener. Ravens pulled out the win in the final 2 minutes, and scored the winning touchdown with just 2 seconds left on the clock. Saw a lot of exciting young new players make some terrific plays, and some not-so-terrific ones, but all in all, I was impressed with most of the new kids on the block. Not so with the defense as much, though.
August 14, 2015 at 10:11 pm #47970caseyParticipantknew I’d find a thread here today from you! A new season is always exciting and here it’s an hour to Bills kickoff against the Panthers. Bills have on paper a potentially explosive team, but for that elusive QB. And Patti, looking more like your ol’ guy Tyrod Taylor may be second in command after Matt Cassel. EJ Manuel has been all over the place and I fear he may not even be here by the start of the regular season. The Bills have such weapons on the outside it would be a crime not to be able to get the ball to them. Even with Rex Ryan’s pound and grind approach.
August 15, 2015 at 1:43 pm #47972PattiParticipantI always did like Tyrod Taylor. He’s extremely fast and has an incredible ability to get his self out of a jam resulting in big gains. And his main problem isn’t even his passing game; it’s his size. But, like I said, it does allow him to be very evasive and to get out of the clutches of some of the big boys, and when he does you can bet he’s off to the races. Good luck this season. I agree, the Bills look good. Oops, this was meant to go under casey’s reply post.
August 23, 2015 at 10:28 pm #48040PattiParticipantBad day in Charm City for both our Ravens and our Orioles. Phillies handed the Ravens their helmuts and showed them the door after an exasperating loss to the Eagles of 40-17. No excuses, we played poorly and the team was flagged 17 times for a total of 139 penalty yards. Yikes, glad to know it’s still preseason.
To add insult to injury, the Twins thwarted the O’s this week and swept us 4 games. Now we have to face 4 with the Royals, which is no easy feat. Oh well, time to regroup and come back swinging. O’s have to right this ship and get back in the game in order to have any chance to make the wild card. Chin up, Patti!!!
August 25, 2015 at 1:21 pm #48050caseyParticipantwith the Jays and the Yanks battling it out and the Royals doing well.
Hope that FB game got all the junk out of your Ravens. As for the Bills they won on a 2 point conversion which is nice but still in the midst of a QB competition. But it just may be Patti, your Rav’s Tyrod could be under center come Sept 13th – he’s brought some excitement to the position after years of duds on the Bills.August 31, 2015 at 4:29 pm #48158caseyParticipantPatti, Taylor was just named starting QB! And you were really the first to put me on to his talent. He was terrific in the preseason, as were all 3 QBs, even the “lost cause” EJ Manuel. I think the Bills will be keeping all 3.
On a sad note our beloved RB Fred Jackson was let go. He was the consumate teammate and human being. He will be missed.
But getting excited about the season!September 1, 2015 at 1:03 am #48173PattiParticipantand I wish Tyrod Taylor all the best. He deserves this. He is so good, and I was sorry to see the Ravens let him get away, but he was never going to get off the bench unless Joe gets hurt, and let’s face it, Joe’s a hard man to take down. The Bills are going to have a good season, and remember casey Tyrod is just as fantastic at running the ball as he is throwing it, and he’s got some mighty fantastic receivers to work with on that Bills offense. I’m happy for you and the Bills, and wish Tyrod the best. We will have to play you guys this season, so I’m looking forward to that. All I need to see is an improvement in some of the Ravens defense and secondary, and I’ve had enough with the injuries already, but the Ravens will be ready and right in there when it counts. One more preseason game and then we’re "off to the races" casey!!! Yep, I’m getting into my Raven Maniac mood already. LOL!
September 4, 2015 at 1:20 pm #48248PattiParticipantRavens fall again 20-19 to Atlanta; but, truth be told, I expected it. We only played with 43 players last night, all working extremely hard to keep their jobs, which now must cut 18 players by tomorrow to get down to 53 for the season’s actual start next week. I could name at least a dozen right off the bat that I would bet money will not be seen in a Ravens’ uniform ever again. LOL! Anyway, now the "real" show begins, and we have a tough start right off the bat, facing the almighty Broncos and their aging yet magnanimous leader, Peyton Manning. Fingers crossed for the Ravens, as usual!!!
September 6, 2015 at 10:04 pm #48264caseyParticipantThe Bills kick off against Andrew Luck and the Colts – ugh! This will be a real test and I hope that either Luck is off a bit or their subpar defense of last year will level the field a bit. Then the following week it’s Tom Brady – what a way to open the season!
September 14, 2015 at 12:34 pm #48397caseyParticipantPatti, so so sorry about yesterday’s opening loss to Denver. I really thought Flacco would pull it out in that last drive. But it was Broncos’ home opener and a defensive battle. I’m sure Ravs will recover, but the loss of Suggs is crushing.
On a plus note, the Bills dominated Luck and the Colts! Taylor showed himself more than competent in his first starting role and that Buffalo defense, despite key losses played strong as expected. Next week the ultimate test- bad boy Patriots.
Tag note on Peyton Manning – the guy looked old yesterday.September 14, 2015 at 1:49 pm #48403PattiParticipantI think you finally have a team you’re going to be proud of. I watch most of the early games on the NFL RedZone channel so I got to see a lot of the Bills game. They looked great in their opener and I think everyone will see great things from them this year. Gosh, it feels good when you have the right players in place, doesn’t it? The Ravens, however, did NOT….although I must say neither did the Broncos. They did manage the win, though, even though both of these teams can do much, much better and I’m sure they will, so I’m not worried yet. We often lose our opener and then come back with a vengence. Still, we’ll be watching hours and hours of tapes to realize our mistakes this week, like "how to protect your quarterback." Joe definitely needs better protection. Poor guy was sacked quite a bit yesterday, but we also got to Peyton 3 or 4 times as well (and yes, he looked tired). I don’t think either the Ravens or the Broncos will be bragging about their opener. But, again, congrats to you casey. I know you’re lovin’ the Bills this season, and, I must say, I don’t blame you.
September 21, 2015 at 12:33 pm #48508caseyParticipantPatti, we’re not celebrating this morning. Bills got crushed by Brady’s best day ever with over 450 in yards. The town was so pumped up thinking this would be the victory day and once more same ol’ story. They can’t beat the Pats and no sign of aging on Brady. They did show fight and made it kind of scary for NE at the end but no cigar. Where was the vaunted Bills defense? Rex Ryan admitted his game plan was the wrong one. I do however still believe the Bills are notably improved and the offense is showing signs of life.
But Patti, the Ravs getting beat by Oakland? That must be hard to take. I think they miss Suggs, enough that it could have cost them a win yesterday. Let’s hope for a better result next week!September 21, 2015 at 2:37 pm #48511PattiParticipantthe Ravens went back and forth on scoring with Oakland all day and lose the game in the last 26 seconds. It bothers me for this season, because our defense just isn’t showing up for the game. I realize Suggs is out for the season, but one man does not a team make, and Ozzie is usually perfection when it comes to selecting players in our draft, and so far the newbies just aren’t cutting it. Defense definitely lost the game for us this week. Joe was fabulous, as was practically the entire offense, but the defense just couldn’t do it to a team that was crushed in their own stadium last week.
I watched as much as I could of the Bills game on the NFL Redzone channel, and was rooting for them, to no avail. As much as I despise Brady and the Patriots and their general practice of how they play the game, I have to give them the credit they deserve. Besides Brady, Gronkowski is their most significant weapon. The Bills tried to hang in there, but like our Ravens, the defense just couldn’t get it done. Better luck next week. Still plenty of time for both of them to pull it together. Another loss for our Ravens would be a catastrophe though.
September 27, 2015 at 9:26 pm #48650PattiParticipantSteve Bisciotti, to come in and clean house, taking the stand he promised if the Ravens did not come through for him this season, starting with the defensive cooridinator, Dean Pees, and following through with a proper house cleaning. I never thought I would say this about my team, but I just cannot stand watching them play this year, and that includes my diminishing admiration for Joe Flacco. Worst part of this loss today is that it was yet again a division loss, and Thursday we go to Pittsburgh, another deam in our division. UGH! I can’t even bring myself to watch that one! I haven’t completely given up on this season yet, but I’m darn close to it. Guess I’ll be rooting for you and the Bills this season, casey.
