The Ravs always had that intimidating D. I still think they miss Suggs more than people realize. Maybe Oakland really is better this year with another win today.
One consolation for the next round of Gladiator Wars Thursday is Ravs won’t be facing Big Ben. It will be Mike Vic who can be dangerous but since he got out of jail he’s been a disaster fumbling and throwing picks, though he has looked good (so far) w/Pitt. Maybe this is just the scenario Baltimore needs to kick it in gear. With so many teams looking Jekyll and Hyde from week to week I wouldn’t say it’s over yet.
Meanwhile it’s halftime here and the Bills looking good over Miami. But the way this league is going, as the late Yogi said it ain’t over til it’s over.September 27, 2015 at 11:48 pm #48652powerpaw2ParticipantI was in Green Bay for the Seattle game. Seeing Lambeau in person literally had tears coming out of my eyes.
September 28, 2015 at 12:56 pm #48655caseyParticipantwatching AR play. Such a gifted QB. Green Bay is such a heralded institution and I love how the town “owns” the team.
September 28, 2015 at 2:12 pm #48656PattiParticipantpick your Pacs to go all the way this year. Don’t blame you for being a proud fan. They have what it takes, so good luck to you and your team powerpaw2.
October 2, 2015 at 4:22 pm #48754caseyParticipantDid you watch? Boy Patti, you guys had about 9 lives last night. I’m so glad you won (it actually might help the Bills down the road) but your great RB and a lot of luck sure helped. I thought it was a horribly coached game by Tomlin plus a hapless field goal kicker. May not have been the same result had Big Ben been at the helm. So on we go.
October 2, 2015 at 4:28 pm #48755PattiParticipantand it couldn’t be any sweeter, because it was against our biggest rival of all time, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and in Heinz Field no less. Admit, I didnt’ think it would happen, but then I remembered we have the greatest field goal kicker in the NFL, and he came through once again. With a 42 yard field goal with 3 seconds left on the clock, Justin tied the game at 20-20, and then kicked the winning field goal with a 52 yarder (ties longest in Heinz Field record books), allowing us to beat the Steelers 23-20. I’m so happy for our team. An 0-4 start would have been disasterous. Now, at least, we have some confidence and hopefully will continue to improve. Hey, we may not have played like a superbowl team, but an ugly win is always better than a close but no cigar loss any day in my book.
October 2, 2015 at 10:43 pm #48759powerpaw2ParticipantPatti, I was glad to see the Ravens won last night. I watched part of the game, but couldn’t stay up that long. I turned on NFL Network when I got up. We have some tough opponents coming up later in the month. As long as Aaron stays healthy, I think we have an excellent shot at bringing the Lombardi trophy home!
Casey, Aaron is a class act on and off the field. I’m slowly reading the program I bought the day of the game. Only $6 and it’s very well done! They have several pages of events and things they do around the community. There really is something magical about that place. I am sure I will go back next year.
I wish there was a way to attach a couple of pictures to this post so I could share some of the Lambeau trip!
October 3, 2015 at 12:43 pm #48769caseyParticipantis the best QB at the moment, even ranking I think over Brady. Rogers can elude pressure better than Tom and throws more of a vertical passing game.
I agree about being a class act, except for comments he made about Russell Wilson giving God credit for his performance. I don’t think you should touch a person’s faith.October 3, 2015 at 1:51 pm #48773PattiParticipantI was very happy to see our defense improving, especially against the Steelers. Tomlin actually said "my bad" on camera when he was taking off his headset after the game. That surprised me, but I was happy the cameras caught it, because it was the truth. He lost the game for the Steelers last night on more than one bad call. Definitely, things might not have gone as well for us if Big Ben had been in the game, but some other teams are going to find out that the Steelers have a good deal of rebuilding to do as well. We have Cleveland next week, so I’m hoping we can stay on a winning roll. GO RAVENS! Both the Bills and the Packers looking good this season. Hope we can catch up before our teams meet one another.
October 3, 2015 at 10:37 pm #48792caseyParticipantto watch” – hehe! I guess you changed your mind. But I didn’t take you too seriously after the pain of the last game.
Surely the Ravs have to beat Cleveland. Big game for the Bills tomorrow against Giants.October 4, 2015 at 8:44 pm #48808caseyParticipantWhat an bone ugly game Bills lost to Giants 24-10! I and the fans have every right to be angry at the massive undisciplined play. This isn’t the first time some of the Bills had kneejerk childish reactions to things not going their way with hurtful penalties. 17 penalties!! Are you kidding? Are they trying to become the Raiders? But I do say the officiating was horrid.
I realize they were without their major stars – that hurt, but no excuses. Where was the crushing defense? The Giants had given up points all season but not today.
I am thinking Rex Ryan better get that “I want to build a bully” attitude out of his head because it has gotten out of hand. He referred today asthe Bills having “fight” and applauded their effort. They did have two TDs taken away but holding calls killed them.
Next week should show a lot. Better watch the Jets as they are now 3-1.October 6, 2015 at 1:03 am #48827powerpaw2ParticipantI understand Aaron’s thoughts that God probably doesn’t care a lot about the outcome of a football game, but I think Russell was giving God credit for his ability. I like Russell a lot, except when he’s playing Green Bay. He’s from Richmond which is where I lived for 20 years.
October 11, 2015 at 10:03 pm #48942caseyParticipantThe last two weeks the Bills have been anemic in the first half and then QB Taylor rises up and leads them to come from behind wins. Have to say being without their top two runners and star WR Watkins is a definite deficit, but hopefully they’ll be back for the stronger teams coming up. Sure is a whacky season with teams like KC and Seattle and Ravens just one win.
Speaking of Ravs, I was with you Patti during OT, but the Ravens despite putting up points don’t appear the powerhouse of recent years. Even on offense there is something missing?October 12, 2015 at 12:49 pm #48945PattiParticipantso far this season, casey. Too many injuries, and way too many penalties for dumb mistakes. The way we started out that first half yesterday, I couldn’t help but think, "yeah, we’re finally, we’re back!" Then our defense went back to sleep in the second half, allowing the Browns to quickly catch up and then go ahead. But, as usual, our old faithful kicker, Justin Tucker, kicked a field goal to tie the game and send us into overtime, only to lose it because Joe Flacco couldnt’ get us down the field in the first play of overtime to let Justin win it for us again, and instead the Browns came back and won it by a field goal of their own (phew, that was a long sentence! LOL). Anyway, I’m a diehard ‘Raven Maniac’ …. I just don’t know how long I can keep trying to convince myself this just isn’t going to be our year.
One heck of a comback for the Bills yesterday. I caught some of their game during commercials here, when I always switch over to NFL RedZone to watch how other games are going. I had to give a thumbs up when just as I switched over at one point the announcer was stating that the Bills only had 81 yeards on the ground and 55 of those were made by Tyrod Taylor. In any event, it looks like you saw a good game and a great comback. Might just be the Bills’ year to go to the playoffs. Much deserved good luck to them. Still trying to convince myself there’s room for us, but even I have to admit that the window is closing quickly.
Another great day for your Pac as well powerpaw2. Takes a tipped ball for the great Aaron Rogers to get intercepted. Pac looks like a winner to me this season. Congrats to you and casey. As women who love football, I’m happy for all 3 of our teams, but I need the Ravens to do much better and start turning this season around for us. I think our owner, Steve Bisciotti, is ready to step in, and he’s always been a "hands off" owner, but he is not a happy one today, I’m sure.
October 19, 2015 at 1:12 pm #49101caseyParticipantPatti, we’re both commiserating today. Cincy looks to be the real deal and the Bills were not up to the task. What happened to this vaunted Bills D? No sack attack like last two years, giving up big plays. And on offense, just decimated with injuries. Watkins comes back to score a big TD and gets hurt – again! The Bills also lost their second receiver Harvin plus their third and were down to 3. They were without Tyrod too. You just cannot compete with a top team like this.
The Ravs always get close but just can’t finish.
Now it’s on to London for the Bills which I hate. This is American football!! -
