can my Ravens do anything right? Looks like NOT. Between the ridiculous mistakes being made by the new kids (not a safety in sight covering Torey Smith), and the inexcusable penalties committed by both sides (O&D), plus a not so great day by Flacco, topped by the best field goal kicker in the league missing on a slip and fall — DOUBLE UGH SAYS IT ALL! Our chances are slim to none this season, and we played a team that had the same record going in as we did, i.e., 1-4, so I really expected a better showing, but once again my team looks weak and unprepared from week to week. At least the Bills were going up against a team that are on top of their game this season; problem for us there is that the Bengels are in our division and they’re still undefeated. Well, we’re too far out now to have any high hopes of getting anywhere this season. I know it’s never say never, but by God I’m calling the season now for the Ravens. I’m just looking at our games now rebuilding with "glorified practice sessions" in actual games. Boo-hoo!
October 22, 2015 at 1:46 pm #49161caseyParticipantTalk about being snakebit! – I’ve never seen a team so decimated with injuries. The Bills have lost 9 (count ’em – 9!) key players, will start their backup QB again this week and it just got worse. Their top reciever Percy Harvin (and Watkins is still out) did not make the trip to London, and now it turns out he is contemplating retirement! Okay, he has a hip injury but you don’t leave your team hanging after just a third of a season.
It is killing me that a team that looked so hopeful when the season began is reduced to a shadow. If the Bills could somehow pull off a win this Sunday they have a bye and then maybe a few can get healthy for the second half, but this is so depressing.
Patti, I’m just hearing that your great Steve Smith might retire after this year? He has been such a gem and so consistent.October 27, 2015 at 1:10 pm #49230PattiParticipantthe 2015 season. Time to clean house for my Ravens, from the top down, as in their GM (who made terrible draft picks this season), the coaches, and probably the players, although I doubt Ozzie or Harbaugh will be going anywhere. I will not, however, bother watching and rooting week to week for a team that makes me this sad. I can take losses and injuries, even though it seems to be the same guys injured every year; what I cannot take is the same mistakes being made by the players who are on the field, week in and week out, with no improvement in sight. Never thought I would say it, but the Ravens are really lousy this season. I need Steve Bischoitti to get up off his super-rich a$$ and start acting like an owner who cares!
October 27, 2015 at 1:18 pm #49231caseyParticipantmuch like the Bills they are suffering heart-breaking last minute losses. Joe’s intercept last night and the Bills unable to get one yard on 4 tries against the lowly Jags. At least the Bills have some excuses like playing the recent games on one leg. Sunday they were without 10 starters and backup QB Manuel I am afraid is a bust as a former first rounder. Thankfully, Buffalo is on the bye this week and if they can get some key guys back for surging Miami and the next 9 games we’ll see what happens. But that Jags loss was crucial. Playoff hopes dim at this point.
November 2, 2015 at 12:02 am #49324powerpaw2ParticipantTough losing Steve Smith though.
November 2, 2015 at 3:20 am #49328PattiParticipantconfident we’ll run the table….DOUBTFUL! LOL! Thanks, powerpaw2. Yes, I could cry for Steve Smith, Sr. I know Steve was supposed to retire at the end of this season, but was having second thoughts. In any event, that was an end to his season for this year for sure and that is really a bummer, for him and the team. He’s irreplaceable, IMO!
November 2, 2015 at 1:20 pm #49331caseyParticipanteven the Ravs wouldn’t be out of it! Outside of the division leaders (what is happening though to the Colts?) parity is ruling with a lot of 4-3 and 3-4 teams. I’m surprised about Oakland and on the flip side San Diego. Rivers is having a ton of completions but that team is so far hapless.
And Powerpaw, I was kind of shocked by GB last night which is cementing the idea of Denver’s vicious defense. Wherever Wade Phillips has gone his defense always shines. And they have rescued Denver many times this year. Last night too, was Manning’s best performance. He looked like the Peyton of old.November 6, 2015 at 8:54 am #49414powerpaw2Participant… but The Pack had a bye week and totally forgot how to play football. I wasn’t expecting a perfect season, but I thought we’d be competitive against Denver. As two young ladies posted on a sign at the Seattle-GB game, "Dear Lordy, please heal Jordy!"
November 6, 2015 at 2:52 pm #49426PattiParticipantfor some other deflations in the win columns this week. Hopefully one of them will be the Bengals (LOL) and we’ll stand at least a fighting chance to pick up some ground. Unfortunately, they still look undefeatable to me this year.
November 9, 2015 at 1:48 pm #49503caseyParticipantFor the first time since early on, the Bills got their Big 4 players back and boy did it show! 200 plus yards on the ground and WR Watkins with 168 on 8 receptions. QB Taylor with just one incompletion.
But a huge game upcoming Thursday night against the 5-3 Jets.
Powerpaw, I did not figure the Pack would be tied with the Vikings at this point. It seems Carolina is the real deal. I still firmly believe GB will take the division.November 9, 2015 at 2:13 pm #49504PattiParticipanteven though the Bills’ win didn’t help the Ravens! LOL! But, you’re right; it means everything to have the return of injured players you depend on week to week to keep you in the game! Of course, we could have used a Steelers loss this week, but no luck there! I actually welcomed our bye week of rest and relaxation and hope we can follow suit in the return of some of our injured players. I’m not worried about the Packers loss either; they’re solid this season. Seeing the Broncos finally lose one to the Colts was a bit of a surprise, though. Still, the teams at the top look mighty tough to beat this season. I just need to see a Ravens win against the Jags next week to keep me hanging on. Maybe we can pull out a second half comeback….who knows?
November 13, 2015 at 2:25 pm #49604caseyParticipantI knew the Jets would make it close but Bills now still in the hunt for the playoffs. Boy was Rex Ryan jacked up for a return to his former hunting grounds. The Jets are the best defense Buffalo has faced, clearly topshelf. And RB McCoy is worth the big bucks, another stellar 100+ running yards. With their stars in the lineup the Bills are such a different team!
The Pats up next on a Monday night – yikes!November 13, 2015 at 3:02 pm #49606PattiParticipantBut great win against the Jets Thursday. Hope the Bills can keep it going. I need to see SOMEONE knock off the Pats!
If the Ravens don’t beat the Jags this week, I think I’m going to cry! LOL!
November 14, 2015 at 1:33 am #49622powerpaw2ParticipantInjuries are killing us. Can we borrow a couple of the Bills’ DBs? Man, those guys are stout! We get screwed out of the 1pm Fox game because the Jags are on CBS. Guess I’ll be having lunch at a sports bar.
November 15, 2015 at 9:16 pm #49646PattiParticipantGoodnight Ravens!
