a little bit closer to Daniels age, she’s at least 28 to 30, where as Chelsa was 19 or so back when Daniel was slobbering over her…and he no matter how you slice his age was over 35ish…Chelsa was barely legal.
March 15, 2011 at 1:58 am #21732justwonderingParticipantDaniel met Carly at a medical convnetion, so he had to be 25-26. Melanie is 20-21 that makes Daniel 45-46. Chloe is 28 making her young enough to be his daughter. yes Chelsea was even younger, actually Melanies’s age. I always felt that Daniel was a player, who got involved with his patients -Kate, Chelsea, Chloe, NOW Jenifer. Remember when he came to the show, he was a beach bum and a Romeo. Not much has changed!!
March 15, 2011 at 11:53 am #21745BonbonParticipantpeople always come back to the Dan/Chelsea pairing but never mention Kate/Nicholas and EJ, or Lexie/Brandon?
I really don’t see a problem in age differentiation in a couple. Let’s face it, some people are more mature than others, some less. My son is 15 years older than his wife and, to me, they are a perfect match.
March 15, 2011 at 12:36 pm #21747DeeLanParticipantNicholas, EJ and Brandon were over 21 had been on their own and more experienced than Chelses.
To me the difference in age doesn’t matter as both get older but Chelsea wasn’t 21 yet and he’s in his 40’s. If she was in her mid to late 20’s and he was late 50’s the difference in age would still be there but to me would be more acceptable. If she was in her 30’s and he early 50’s it would be less awkward to me.
I’m actually more comfortable with a younger woman/older man than the other way around. I thought Billie and Nick were disgusting but again he was barely 21 if that and she had a daughterl his age and the Kate/Nicholas pairing was the next most disgusting pairing on the show.
March 15, 2011 at 5:50 pm #2175153tdogsParticipanta 19/45 year old. Kate is/was about 15 years older than Daniel, and I don’t have a problem with older women/younger men, but then I don’t have a problem with younger women and older men, just let the girl be a woman of 21 and legal. Same for the guys, at least 21 or over. I know the law of the land is an 18 year old is a legal adult, but really, who at 18 is really an adult? Things change so much by the time you are 25.
March 16, 2011 at 12:44 pm #21780PattiParticipantBoth E.M. and M.B. have stated in interviews that they are, or will be, "testing the waters," so to speak with Brady and Melanie. Both actors are pleased about it. Well, glad they are, cause I’m not. All of this is because this writer and KC and everyone in a position of authority loves Molly Burton to death, so they’ll try her with the whole cast before cutting her lose. Personally, I like her a little more feisty, but it’s just those damn facial expressions that disgust me. If they are going to keep this character, they should sit the actress in front of a mirror with a voice coach and show her what she looks like when she scrunches her face up like she does. She’s a pretty girl, but her appearance is ruined for me by those nasty "all tooth" grins and squinted eyes/nose she makes with her face, and when you speak, SPEAK, damn it, in a regular young woman’s voice without me expecting someone to hand you a rattle and a binky, and please stop pointing that finger when you do. MB rant over, done with, gone ….. for now!
March 16, 2011 at 2:09 pm #21781NoraParticipantAGREE Patti! I enjoyed Melanie SOOOOO much yesterday after weeks and months of not being able to stand her. hell i even liked her when she first came one when everyone else hated her. i enjoyed her much more then than i have ever since this whole phillip/nathan crap started. i love spunky fiesty Melanie. i dont want to get her confused with pain in the ass melanie, when like when she was teaming up with Kate and being a nosy bitch.
March 16, 2011 at 9:38 pm #2179053tdogsParticipanta couple! I don’t care if they (writers) want to test the waters, what is next, pairing her up with Victor and Stefano?????? GMAbigFATB!!! There’s my vote on that little bit of idiocy writers!!!!
And Patti, you can rant anytime you want to – you say it well and I agree with ya 99 3/4 % of the time so get up on your soapbox girl and let it rip!
March 17, 2011 at 2:55 pm #21808justwonderingParticipantWell, there sre plenty of people who act and look like Melanie in real life. Everyone is not polished and mature. Since Melanie is young, she can pull off her actions. But, given her upbringing and her history of beinging a grifter, one would expect her to be more mature . I think that they changed her character into a young girl wronger. In the beginning she was the wild child and Trent would do anything for her. Later they made Trent the bad guy and she became the victim. Knowing her history makes it hard to accept her as an immature little girl.
March 17, 2011 at 3:15 pm #21809DeeLanParticipantI look at Melanie as someone who may have had a dad do anything for her but at a price and it was all for what he could get from her in return. He aparently didn’t want her around so he sent her away to boarding school. She didn’t have any guidance and had to fend for herself in the only way she knew, manipulation and scamming as her father taught her. Once she got around people who cared about her and actually took care of her emotional needs she sort of stepped back and took on a weaker role and allowed others to finally care for her.
I’m nothing like Melanie but I was divorced at 26 for remained single for 20 years. During that time I took on the adult role in caring for my parents until they passed away then I was on my own for 9 years helping my cousin raise his granddaughter. When I got married and had a great man to care for me and the bills and actually want to do for me I did the same thing as Melanie. I stepped back and even though I’m part of the team making decisions as far as our finances and what we do with our money I don’t want to be. I got tired of worrying about bills and money for so long it’s nice to act oblivious and let someone else do it for me. If the time ever comes where I’m in a position to have to take care of things alone I know I’ll be able to do it but I’m happy in the roles my husband and I have, mostly because it was my choice.
March 20, 2011 at 10:51 pm #21927GoldenDaysFanParticipantThey are great as pals, buds, friends…but not lovers! Please don’t let this be her next move. Melanie just left two relationships and lot a baby. Let her heal. Let Brady get off the bottle and back in AA. I would rather see Brady fall hard for Taylor than for Melanie. That would be interesting: E.J. and Brady in love with the same woman and Nichole in dark.
March 21, 2011 at 12:22 am #2192853tdogsParticipantnow? Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeze GMAB!
March 21, 2011 at 12:50 pm #21929PattiParticipantwhen this possibility arose that the fans exploded on them. Now, they might be reconsidering a relationship between Melanie and Dario. What they really need is to give Melanie a break with the men for a while. Her sheets with Philip weren’t even cold yet when she was locking lips with Nathan, and now she’s going to be a love interest for Dario?????? No wonder her lips are so big!!!! Anyway, here’s part of the interview regarding Melanie and Brady from SOW:
"Romance for Melanie and Brady?
After helping Melanie apprehend Dario, Brady escorts Melanie home and makes sure she’s okay. It leads to a sweet moment between the two. Is Days setting the stage for love?
"Who knows?" shrugs Eric Martsolf (Brady). "There is an age difference between the two, but that’s certainly not a new thing to soaps. It’s definitely interesting to think about. Molly and I have discussed it. We’ve had a chuckle with one another that "Branie" could actually come to life.
Martsolf reveals that the bond between Brady and Melanie was completely unexpected. "It was something that was pre-manufactured," he asserts. "Molly and I click on a certain level, and it’s very sincere. Viewers have described it as a brother and sister relationship that they wish they had with their siblings."
Brady’s friendship with Melanie also brings new dimenions to both characters. "Yes, Brady is ruthless, stubborn, arrogant, and power-hungry," Martsolf concedes. "But at the same time Brady loves to expose [this other side of himself] to Melanie. There is a complete generosity and care. It’s a beautiful thing to see. I love the relationship between Melanie and Brady."
Back to Patti: Great, so they turn him into mush around her, but let her take this new attitude now that she’s lost her baby that she can just jump into anyone’s face or start pounding on any guy she disagrees with to the degree where she becomes not only laughable, but despicable. I never have, nor do expect I ever will, like this character. I would rather have kept Stephanie than have to continue on with Melanie. And, as far as I’m concerned, Daniel and Carly are nothing more than enablers to her infantile outbursts. She makes me sick to my stomach.
