either you have it or you don’t. Drake Hogestyn and Eileen Davidson definitely DO NOT!! Although, I must say, I felt sorry for poor Eileen. She gave it her best shot. I think Drake Hogestyn must have really disliked this story-line, because for months he’s been simply phoning it in, IMO. His acting has been atrocious, plus, obliterating Dee Hall from this storyline has been a huge mistake. We have seen absolutely no remorse from John where Marlena is concerned, but we have had to live through voluminous flashbacks where Kristen is concerned. This is why the story failed for me. Now, I would not be surprised if the DH’s were next ones out.

Although, John has had chemistry with every female he’s been with, IMO. Jeannie Francis (sp?), Yvette, the short time with the DA (can’t remember her name). I thought he was even great with Hope on the sub (contrary to what many others thought). Heck, they had to throw cold water on me when I watching that scene.
I think the reason we don’t see it with Kristin now is because, #1, it isn’t sincere, and #2, because there was no build-up to get us invested. Or, maybe, it was intended that way. Who knows?
As for John phoning in his performance lately, with such horrible writing, that’s probably about all he could do. His actions have been so utterly anti-John as to make it too hard for us (and probably Drake too) to swallow. Heck, I’m finding Wally Kurth much more interesting lately than Drake. Now there’s a man who’s getting better with age.
May 25, 2013 at 8:12 pm #39819PattiParticipantin DAYS of old; I was talking about now. And, I think that’s mostly because of the way they are depicting John’s blatant ignorance of Marlena’s feelings today. I remember several months back reading Drakes tweet saying something like “walking around in my dressing room wondering how I’m supposed to play these scenes.” I think this is exactly what he meant by that remark. I think Drake has been disappointed with this storyline. JMO.

I agree, I don’t think Drake wanted to do it, looks like he just showed up with his memorized lines. I am sooooo disappointed with what became of this. I was always holding out hope that Marlena knew what was happening, but instead the writers decided to go in the opposite direction and have the divorce word come up. As for Eileen Davidson, I didn’t watch much during her original appearance, but she must be very unhappy to be part of a storyline the viewers just can’t stomach.

That 30 -something Brady needed to be “saved” by Daddy; that John felt he had to keep Marlena in the dark; that the “only” way was to get Kristen in the sack. And how could he be so sure in the end it would even work! The collateral damage, even if it does, is gargantuan.
