One suspect dead and one on the loose in Watertown, a suburb of Boston. I am at home today as they suspended all MBTA service so they closed my work in Boston. I feel terrible for the people of Watertown and how scary this is for them. I think one police officer is dead. Hope they find this guy fast. Police are urging all people in surrounding suburbs to stay home. This is frightening
April 19, 2013 at 2:50 pm #39349PattiParticipantand has threatened to "kill all of them" because they killed his brother.
I do have the feeling this will be an all-day, uninterrupted event.
April 19, 2013 at 6:11 pm #39353MKParticipantThey are still looking for him. Not sure if he is still in the Watertown area or if he is on the run.
April 19, 2013 at 7:57 pm #39355PattiParticipantafter they both got out of their car and shot and killed the cop, then a barrage of bullets hit the older brother, with the news that the younger one, the one being hunted now, simply backed over his brother’s dead body and GOT AWAY. That just baffles my mind. Did no one chase this kid down? Of course, with the media today, you believe half of what you see and NOTHING of what you hear.
April 19, 2013 at 7:59 pm #39356PattiParticipantI think the media frenzy has everyone loopy; they (the networks) are even bashing one another for false reports, etc. So sad.
April 19, 2013 at 9:23 pm #39360BonbonParticipantgoing on with TPTB than even the media is privy to. I think the FBI probably already knew who they were before they even showed those videos on TV and asking if anyone knows them to come forward. They only leak out what they want us to know.
And the media is like hungry little birds, pecking at any little scrap they can get. Look how long they were reporting another “bomb” at the library, long after they knew it was only a completely unrelated fire.
But, how he got away, yeah, I’d like to know that too. There are a lot of holes in the reporting of those events but I think it’s because the media hasn’t been given the full story yet.
April 19, 2013 at 9:40 pm #39362BonbonParticipantAccording to what I’m hearing now, they are still searching for him.
April 19, 2013 at 9:52 pm #39363PattiParticipantwhich obviously was a false report. They even broadcast some sort of social media message saying he would "kill them all" because they killed his brother, which, obviously, was not him but some other person. I know the actual younger brother has not yet been caught. The older one supposedly has a wife and a 3-year old daughter.
April 19, 2013 at 9:56 pm #39364MKParticipantA lot of us are wondering about that too. It seems pretty impossible that he got away. With all the police, FBI etc, he simply got away???? Makes no sense at all. He just drove off and disappeared. Maybe he is hurt so why can’t they find him?? Our mayor and governor supposed to be holding a press conference soon. I am sure there is nothing new to say. I just pray that when they find him, that no more innocent lives are lost since he will most likely have explosives on him. I am so anxious.
April 20, 2013 at 12:38 pm #39368dvalParticipantat least they finally got him. What I heard last night was he got away on foot, in the dark, so I guess they just couldn’t find him? It seems a little odd to me too, but what do I know? Just what I’ve learned from watching criminal minds and NCIS, LOL
April 20, 2013 at 7:13 pm #39370BonbonParticipantWhen that guy looked into his boat and saw a bloody person there, why didn’t he get up and run? I’m thinking, since he is in such critical condition, he was probably half dead and couldn’t. Which brings up the question of why it took so long to take him into custody. The man that discovered him must have been able to see if he had explosives. I wonder if much of this information will ever come out. Just glad it’s all over.
Again, I say, you will never get away with something like this in this country after 9/11, you WILL get caught. Kudos to all who took part in this manhunt.April 20, 2013 at 9:16 pm #39373MKParticipantI think he was too wounded to run. Had they not found him yesterday, he would probably have been dead today. I would have thought with all the police, that they would have seen and searched the boat. But I heard that the house with the boat was just outside of the perimeter they were searching.
I tell ya, there are a lot of relieved folks here. I know this affects all Americans but when something like this happens in your neck of the woods, it really hits home harder. Watertown is just 20 minutes from where I live and if they had not caught him yesterday and we did not know he was hurt, I would have not felt safe.
I have not been watching any coverage today but did read that the older brother was interrogated by the FBI in 2011. It said that a foreign country said he was a radical Islam. I guess they did not feel he was a threat. I also heard that he was charged with domestic abuse.
