We finally got dug out from last weekend and now we are supposed to get another 2 feet maybe! and more on the way Monday – the weather guy could barely stand to tell us! I don’t mind it so much except for trying to find a place for my mini poodle to pee.
February 10, 2010 at 7:34 pm #10367PattiParticipantmy cat can use his litter box, but my poor little cock-a-poo is really testing her bladder. She won’t go out, even though I’ve shoveled a spot on the back porch big enough for her to go. She’ll give in at some point, but anyway I’m in the same position. 30.5 inches dumped on us this past weekend, and another 16 to 20" today, with more expected on Monday. It’s a monster weather pattern that is really hitting the mid-Atlantic like a ton of bricks. I don’t know how the Eskimo people can take it. It’s getting scary out there.

February 10, 2010 at 8:04 pm #10371Carol JParticipantWe are making up for last Saturday. We were supposed to get 3 to 6 inches but got a few flakes. It is coming down really hard now here on Long Island. We have about 8 inches and the way it’s going there will be lots more. Still nowhere near the totals south of here.
February 10, 2010 at 8:11 pm #10372luckeyParticipantlast Friday we only received about 4 inches of blowing snow. Then, yesterday and overnight into today we’ve received about 10 more inches. We live in the rural area about 20 miles southeast of Toledo on a farm. Due to all the equipment we have, getting in and out is not a problem. Fortunately, there hasn’t been any power outages; so, it’s just been a typical winter. I’ve been watching the weather for the eastern coast and I’ve been amazed at the amount that has fallen there. Our area schools closed yesterday and today, but will probably be back in session tomorrow. I can’t imagine how long it will take for the D.C. area to get back to normal. Everyone, be safe!
February 10, 2010 at 10:41 pm #10377macrrParticipantIt was 40 degrees and a beautiful, sunny day today, although on the windy side:) (South Carolina)
February 10, 2010 at 10:46 pm #10378SWParticipantwe seem to have missed it. We got a few flakes throughout the day but they melted. The weather guys are saying it was because we were getting wind off the warmer water. I don’t mind as I don’t enjoy shoveling! lol

February 11, 2010 at 3:19 am #1038653tdogsParticipantI see the news reports and I can’t believe what you guysies are going through – it’s mind boggling! Here on the left coast, we freak if there’s a wet highway from rain…you folks are BRAVE driving under those conditions if you have to go out in it! My warm and cozy wishes are being sent you all! Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
February 11, 2010 at 12:24 pm #10393BonbonParticipantMy idiotic poodle will not go outside if it’s raining (go figure!). When it rains here, it doesn’t usually rain for very long so it’s not often a problem but if it should rain all day, I’ll put a pee-pad down for her on the tile floor. They are scented so they will go on them. They work great.
I have a friend who has a shih-tzu who NEVER goes outside. (She’ll get her hair dirty…it drags on the floor.) That’s where she "goes" all the time. I guess lots of people do that, however, it seems to me, that would get kind of expensive.
Staying on topic, I remember from my days living in the Chicago area just how disabling all that snow can be and my thought go out to all you guys. It’s beautiful but sometimes you have to say…ENOUGH!
February 11, 2010 at 1:43 pm #10398ellenkbParticipantI am going to get some of those pads this weekend – also heard that you can get something that resembles grass that they like. We’ll see! Thanks for the advice!
February 11, 2010 at 3:01 pm #10406IzzyBParticipantWe keep one in our upstairs bathroom all the time. She never tells us when she needs to go instead she runs upstairs and goes on her pee pad. We take her for walks sometimes, so she does get outside. But the constant taking her outside would be a pain since she refuses to go to the bathroom in her own yard. It is also great when we leave for an entire day, because then we don’t have to worry about her holding it too long or having an accident.
It actually does not get that expensive. We buy the generic brand (which I actually like better) and we buy them in bulk (200+ at a time) and so it works out to be about .20 a pad. Which we use about two a day, so about $73 a year. I can handle that over walking her every 6 hours. She came paper trained, so holding it is not something she will do. I just couldn’t stand newspapers, so I was very happy when we found the pee pads.
