Well, here’s where I think these writers are going… Paul donating his blood to Sonny is not just going to be dropped without it having some baring on the storyline. I’ll bet it’s going to end up finding out Paul has AIDS (there was nothing said about testing his blood first, even though that is standard procedure with ALL blood donations these days, but why would they ever let facts get in the way).
There has never been a storyline addressing this and these writers seem to be able to go where no half-way decent writer has gone before. After all, Paul has had multiple partners and doesn’t seem to care about using protection. That would take the focus off everything else and throw it on to whether or not Paul has passed it on to Sonny and ultimately on to Will also.
That could be a real corker of a storyline.
February 24, 2015 at 12:01 pm #46594PattiParticipanthowever, I doubt they’ll go that way. My thought was incest because Paul and Sonny are both O-Negative, which means that although a person who is O-Negative is considered a "universal" donor, they are able to donate, but the person receiving must also be O-Negative, which is why his blood worked for Sonny. My next guess is that Paul’s father may be Justin, and that would make Paul and Sonny brothers (I know, ewww!), plus the writers are opening up this s/l with Justin and Adrienne, and Justin thinking it would be great to meet Sonny’s donor one day, even though Adrienne knows it’s Paul, so that was my theory. Either way, they would both be interesting sls, much better then the ones these writers will obviously provide. I do like the AIDS concept. Current issue sls are always interesting.
February 24, 2015 at 1:04 pm #46595dvalParticipantI sure hope they don’t go that way having Paul and Sonny be half brothers. That would be kind of almost maybe (eww yucky, nauseating) more gross than Eve and JJ. Although seeing as how everyone is Salem is related to almost everyone else somehow it is not a storyline that should ultimately surprise us, LOL. But thinking about it he does sort of resemble Justin.
as far as the blood goes, and I know this would still be stretching the facts, I seem to remember Maxine telling the nurse to get the blood to the lab so they could analyze it ASAP. Or am I misremembering that scene?February 24, 2015 at 2:00 pm #46596KseeParticipantdidnt’ Justin and Adriane adopt their children?
February 24, 2015 at 2:16 pm #46597caseyParticipantSL and I am not that put off by the half brother thing, maybe because they can’t procreate. Days has been such a snooze that this month’s stepup in the action has been welcomed. It would also excplain why Paul’s mother won’t come to Salem. However, wouldn’t she then be aware of the Paul/Sonny relationship? Unless this would be such a “dishonor” in her culture, she couldn’t own up to it?
As for the blood thing, they could explain it away easily, that it was needed so urgently the protocal was compromised.
Love the AIDS angle. It’s kind of been a forgotten topic lately with the success of drug cocktails. But I understand the longer HIV is not diagnosed the survival rate goes down. But again, with Paul’s extensive health exams wouldn’t this have shown up earlier?February 24, 2015 at 2:59 pm #46598dvalParticipantMaybe it’s because I have four sons but nope, that storyline would be extremely uncomfortable for me. Step siblings would be one thing but blood related? Nah I don’t care if they can procreate or not. Just not right.
February 24, 2015 at 3:01 pm #46599dvalParticipantJustin and Adrienne are listed as the parents of Jackson “Sonny” Kiriakis. The twins were adopted by Justin and Adrienne.
February 24, 2015 at 4:02 pm #46600PattiParticipantso they would be half-brothers (same father…different mothers).
February 24, 2015 at 4:14 pm #46601PattiParticipantIt just seems odd to me that Adrienne knew all about Paul, but we can’t be sure Justin does, and now Justin and Adrienne seem to be having all these problems in their marriage. Oh well, Paul’s mother comes to town this week and she supposedly recognizes (and not in a happy way) someone there. Paul told Marlena that his father died before he was born. So, who will that will seem to be upsetting to her? Something’s up here. I just hope it’s not John Black, who just apologized to John recently for being short with him when they first met, and now he’s having scenes with Marlena. Oh well, I guess we’ll have to wait (how long is anybody’s guess) to see how this plays out. Wouldn’t it be nice for someone to come to Salem who doesn’t have a secret and is NOT related to anyone though???
February 24, 2015 at 9:14 pm #46602dvalParticipantI guess we don’t have to concern ourselves with Paul and Sonny potentially being half brothers, not from the reaction Paul’s mother had to Marlena. Unless that is just a red herring?
February 24, 2015 at 10:13 pm #46604midwifemamaParticipantO Negative Blood type is considered to be universal because there are no A or B antibodies and no Rh antibodies, so theoretically any blood type can accept O neg blood (it should be tested asap because there can be some weird “minor” antibodies). So Sonny could be O neg, O pos, A neg or pos, B neg or pos or AB neg or pos and still receive Paul’s O Neg blood AB pos is considered a universal recipient, because it can handle all the regular antibodies thrown at it. The fact that Sonny could receive Paul’s O neg blood gives us no clue to a blood relationship. I would guess, given Paul’s mother’s reaction to Marlena suggests maybe a secret involving John and I think neither Will or Sonny are biologically related to John. The AIDS angle could be interesting though.
February 24, 2015 at 11:40 pm #46605PattiParticipantwhere/how does she know Marlena if not for John? Oh, please writers, say it isn’t so!
February 24, 2015 at 11:45 pm #46607caseyParticipantto Doc, coupled with that flashback of John and Marlena (does anyone know the year that was – if it could be tied to Paul’s age?) you’d think we’re led to believe John might be Paul’s dad. Unless it’s to throw us off. But why would Paul’s mother be so upset over seeing Marlena?
February 25, 2015 at 12:40 am #46608bluebonnetParticipantRoman or was his marriage/relationship with Marlena too long ago?
February 25, 2015 at 7:16 am #46609BonbonParticipantI know the twins were adopted but, what about Alexander who was fathered by Justin and Angelica Devereaux? He would have been the oldest because he was born even before Justin and Adrienne got married. Sonny (Jackson) is the youngest.
