I thought Phillip’s pre-vow speach was so cute! I couldnt help but smile through it! This is the first time I saw Mel’s dress, and not very flattering. Didnt really care for Maggie’s dress either , but she still looked beautiful. This is my first glance at the new Will too. he does look alot more like Sami’s kid but havent heard him act yet.
I’m going to be out of the loop for a couple days, we were getting cable at the house becuase the previous owner didnt cancel it, well we had scheduled the cable to be hooked up on the 10th, but we had to reschedule, so they must have found out that we were getting cable, they shut it off. So now I’m without Cable and internet til the 19th! Argh! We’re only getting basic, which stinks, so I’ll still get to watch american idol and Days, but no foodnetwork! BOO!!
February 12, 2010 at 9:24 pm #10472BonbonParticipantWhen I moved into my house here in Florida, I had cable for four months before they discovered the past owner had cancelled it. Rats. Oh well, it was nice while it lasted. Cable is such a rip-off. I pay $118 a month and that includes NO premium channels. I’d get a dish but they want a gazillion dollars to install all the wiring because they have to go in the attic. They’ve got me over a barrel if I want to watch TV. Sorry for the rant.
February 12, 2010 at 11:39 pm #1047653tdogsParticipantI had DishNet since ’97 but when I sold my home and got a rental (until I purchase my next home) so I had to get cable – but $118 and NO premiums – you – my dear – are getting ripped off!
I have cable currently, (with HBO), unlimited long distance and local phone and internet with no increases for two years for the same amount amount of money you are paying for just cable a month!
And when I moved with Dish (a few years ago), it was only $99 for installation which that fee was waived if you kept it for one year (and they have the same deal today). I’d negotiate with them if I were you when my next bill came due; (either Dish or Cable), threaten them you’ll go else where if they don’t give you a better deal…they want your repeat business (especially in this day and age) and I don’t think it’s because I live in a different state than you that I got that price because I live in the most expensive state in the union – good luck with them Bonbon!
February 12, 2010 at 11:50 pm #10479DeeLanParticipantI agree. When we had cable they raised our internet rates and I called to see what I could do to get the rates down. I threatened to go back to dial-up and switch to dish. They lowered my rates since, according to them, I mentioned their competitor. I’ve done that with cellular service also.
Last year we bought a house and moved to a different town and cable is expensive and the company they have doesn’t have a good reputation. I called around and our phone company had a bundle deal which included home phone with unlimited long distance, dish network and 10mg internet. We got free installation of up to 4 rooms and we pay about $150 for all of it. We do have 1 premium channel which is HBO but that’s because there’s 1 show on there we watch. They don’t have NBC, something about the local affiliate but we can get it for $50 a year through another company. The only show I watch on NBC is days so we’re cancelling that and I’ll be watching on Soapnet from now on.
February 12, 2010 at 11:52 pm #1048053tdogsParticipantBonbon – I have DVR in that price too – so check on that also when you bargin!
February 13, 2010 at 12:26 pm #10486BonbonParticipantI don’t just have basic cable, I also have a DVR and HD ($10.00 each plus $5.00 for the HD converter and remote). But they get you by charging extra for digital plus channels ($12.00, which I HAVE to have to get the HD channels but never watch, and also digital service ($10.00, which is the box! I only need the box because of the HD and DVR). Then when you add all the taxes, etc., well, you see?
I had actually gone ahead and ordered a dish from Dish Network because they said "free installation" but when they came out, they said only "standard" installation was free and if I wanted the wires run through the attic, as opposed to the across the ceiling and walls (for four sets which makes basically the whole house), it would be $125 for each set…$500! Also, the association where I live will not allow wires on the outside of the house, they have to go from the attic right to the dish. I told them no way and the installer called a supervisor and I tried to negotiate with them but they wouldn’t budge.
And I don’t have any choice with the cable as they are the only ones available to me where I live. That’s why I say, I’m over a barrel if I want to watch TV, which, unfortunately, is a major part of my life.
February 13, 2010 at 3:59 pm #10490PattiParticipantI also thought they were sweet and seemed sincere, but I can’t help wondering if all of this build-up with Chloe, her pregnancy, and Victor’s incessant attacks on her, isn’t going to somehow entwine the lives of Chloe, Phillip, Melanie, and Daniel. I have to say this; if I were Phillip I would have had to think twice about Melanie’s indecisiveness when it became her turn to say her vows. It had to be obvious to everyone in that room that she clearly was not ready to marry Phillip. Who hesitates that much when they are committing to sharing their life with that certain someone? No, I’m sorry, but IMHO this marriage will never make it. One other thing, did anyone get a look at Stephanie’s face when those vows were being said, especially when Mel said that of all the women Phillip could have chosen, that he chose her to marry? If Steph was Medusa, they both would have turned to stone.
February 16, 2010 at 8:18 pm #10552Ms. JakeParticipantHow about Direct TV? They do offer more, I believe….
February 17, 2010 at 5:30 am #10562IzzyBParticipantBonbon, who do you have? I pay $130.90 a month. I have everything you have (HD & Premium Digital) except the DVR. I have two Tivo’s in my house, but I do have cable cards for them which costs extra. I also have a cable box because they insist I have to have one to keep my package, whatever, I put it in the back room where no one watches TV – lol. But I also have the highest cable modem speed they offer included in that.
EDIT: So thank you very much for this thread, because I went out to verify on my CC what they were charging to make sure I put in the right amount (I pulled the original # from my budget spreadsheet) and they are now charging me $163!!!! Last month it was $130, but it jumped up $33, I will be calling them tomorrow!!!!
Update on my edit, they did not up my fee, I had a service call fee that was charged to my bill. I remember the call, but I don’t know why it was charged as it was an equipment failure on their part. I will be calling them and getting that fee removed. So again, thank you. I don’t think I would have caught that
