I couldn’t help but feel sorry for him today.  He had no idea whatsoever what his father was mixed up in or who with.  I just knew Hope would want to take him in.  This will undoubtedly cause more problems for Hope, who will want to go out of her way to prove to Chase that he is still family, at least he will be to her.  Bo and Ciara, maybe not so much.

causing all kind of problems with acting out. With a family trying to mend, this will not help.

I wonder if we’ll eventually find out tht Aiden really pulled the trigger and offed the mom, instead of his sad story about Chase doing it and him covering up!

Hope can’t just take him in. He is going to have to go through Child Protective Services and their family is going to have to be investigated, vetted and approved, then go through court and have a judge grant custody, the whole ball of wax. It could take six months to do that.

I saw what a guy had to do who was even the birth father when the mother died. I would have thought it would be automatic but it wasn’t. (They were estranged and never lived together nor were married.) I would think CPS would say, here, it’s your kid and your responsibility now. But, this is Salem and Hope is an up-standing citizen so they’ll probably just turn him over to her care and our resident legal eagle will draw up all the papers…oops, our resident legal eagle is gone. Well, maybe Justin can handle it.

Hope and Aiden were already married. Does that make a difference? I don’t think he has any other relatives either.

wouldn’t that automatically make Chase her stepson?  Besides, who else does he have.  The only person who ever came forward was Meredith’s friend, the one who tried to dissuade Hope from marrying Aiden, and I don’t believe she was a relative; just a friend.

That’s why you hear so often of second spouses adopting the child(ren) so in case the parent dies, they have automatic custody. Otherwise, any relative (or even non-relative if they can prove worthy) can crawl out of the woodwork and claim custody. That happens particularly when the parent has a substantial estate, e.g. Anna Nicole Smith. Look at the hoops her daughter’s biological father had to jump through to gain legal custody of his own daughter. (If anybody watches Sister Wives, that’s what they are going through right now.)

if Chase were a small child or a toddler, but Chase is what 16, with no other family as far as we know.  I think a judge would want to know how he would feel about who he lives with, especially if Bo is taken very ill and dies, which we see is beginning to happen already.

will find out that Aiden was brought to town by Stefano specifically to get Hope to fall in love with and eventually marry him, and when will she realize that he changed her beneficiary on her life insurance policy, and WILL THEY EVER FIND THAT DAMN BUG IN THE DIMERA LIVING ROOM?  So many unanswered questions.

…was a HUGE problem for me, as I worked in insurance for 35 years.  You just don’t bring up a policy and amend it.  There are riders, and writs, and background checks for beneficiaries-to-be, etc., etc.  Joe Blow off the street can’t just put his name into a policy.  A little suspension of reality and facts there!

Only the policy owner can change the beneficiary. (Also former insurance sales.)

That’s not a nit either, that’s as major as poorly portraying CPR because it gives people false information.

that happens on a soap opera can be related to real life situations.  I watch soaps purely for entertainment, and so far DOOL has been providing it.

I can be entertained just as easily with reality as with slip-shod writing.
