I started getting a subscription to Soap Opera Weekly a while back (don’t know why but it just started coming). There’s an article in this weeks about the color blue. Below are excepts from the article.
Set designer Daniel Olexiewicz says a confident approach to color can only add to the show’s value. Now that the show is broadcast in Hi-Def those clors pop in a way they didn’t before. "With Hit-Def comes the vibrancy — you really get the true impace of the color." The use of blue gives several familiar Salem spots a distinct personality — like Sami and Rafe’s loft. "The walls are kind of an ivory white, and I’ve got another wall that coordinates — it’s still within the family of creams or ivories — but the door has got that strong blue accent," The shows commitment to going blue appears to extend to knickknacks and plastic cups. With the colors on the blue spectrum, you do get a nice separation between the background color and the forgeground, and then you really get to focus on the face of the actor who’s in the scene. The same goes for all the blue clothing the viewers see the Salemites donning. "It’s not as if Jane (Marie Kehoe, costume and I consciously coordinate it — although we do discuss color concepts with things like weddings coming up, or special occasions or an establishment such as Jave Cafe. "Jayne and I will talk so that her palette is coordinating with the colors you see onscreen and in the set."

I dont watch nbc in high def, I have some high def channels which I do watch but some like nbc, and nickilodeon (sp?) are not the full screen so i dont like watching it on high def.

We were having trouble and had to go into Zoom and such every time we changed a channel. We had to have DirectTV come out to install a new receiver, and I asked the technician about it. He said, "Oh, that’s easy to fix", and went into the settings and adjusted one little thing. Now the screen automatically adjusts, and it’s perfect every time. I just wish I could remember what he did! If you have satellite, you can probably call customer service and have them talk you through it.

NBC now broadcasts just about everything in HD and it’s a shame if you’re not getting it. I was so happy when Days finally began coming in HD.

January 29, 2011 at 4:45 pm #20473DeeLanParticipantMy husband went into the resolution in settings and was able to adjust something. Then there’s another setting for Crop, Stretch, Normal and I don’t remember what else. He’s always playing around with those and changing how the picture looks.
