I didn’t see Sami’s response to EJ’s kiss…Wimbledon ran over into DOOL so I was wondering if anyone else got to see it? I loved when he grabbed her when she was trying to leave the room. He’s as sexy as socks on a rooster! LOL
Kim is killing me though…does the red hair cause her to be majorly dramatic or is she just that bad of an actress. As I remember her, she was much better when she was blonde! maybe it’s just a coincedence? She needs to bring it down a notch. Way too much for me!
June 30, 2010 at 7:59 pm #14131majencoParticipantNope. Kim has always been over the top. She rants and raves and smiles that creepy "too many teeth" smile all the time.
June 30, 2010 at 8:08 pm #14132PattiParticipantSami and E.J. that could be determined to be worthwhile. Again they were interrupted by his phone ringing (Ariana). Now, the kiss between her and Rafe was exceptional. She literally threw herself around him and the kiss went on and on, with E.J. looking on …. loved every second of it. Sami and E.J. … no so much for me. I do have to laugh at Sami’s overly done breathlessness when E.J. and her come close to kissing, which is all they ever seem to do. She pants and huffs and puffs, then ducks under his arm or scurries away. She reminds me of a bull moose in heat.
June 30, 2010 at 8:48 pm #14135Ms. JakeParticipantShe’s always been the "firey" personality! I enjoyed Shane & Kim…..hope they work it out! So nice, just like the old day’s, having these actors back!!!!
June 30, 2010 at 8:56 pm #14136caseyParticipantI don’t know if this is how she’s always been directed or simply the actress’s interpretation. But her drama queen antics drive me nuts.
July 1, 2010 at 2:52 am #14141GoodyParticipantbut not Kim; she is just too much of a drama queen. I think she is just too over the top now; much more so than I remember her being in the past. Who knows, though; I may be the one who has changed over the years becoming less tolerant of her type over acting.
I won’t miss her at all.

July 1, 2010 at 11:25 am #14142BonbonParticipantin the way they handled Kim and Shane’s reunion. It was not what I wanted to see happen. They’ve been apart way to long to have such annimosity between them. I’m sure we all would have loved to see something more like Marlena and John’s meeting on the dock after she was missing so long rather than the debacle they gave us.
I felt so bad for Shane, he was looking forward to becoming part of his family again and, instead, he meets Medusa. It doesn’t seem to me that Kim’s intense anger was warrented here. I could have accepted a snubbed, cold reception, but not the ridiculous outburst we got. What a ruined opportunity for what could have been a very memorable and touching scene.
July 1, 2010 at 11:52 am #14143justwonderingParticipantActually I thought that Kim’s reaction was correct. Yes, he was safe. But where has he been? He san’t there when she had her bout with cancer. He looked fine. Why souldn’t seh be angry and hurt? I thought it was exactly how it should be. On Wednesday, when she found out he resigned and wanted to be in her life, she softened. I thought it was very realistic.
July 2, 2010 at 3:12 pm #14159mommytutuParticipantKim was not this over the top and her reaction is not believable. I think her acting has gotten worse. I liked her years ago, but not now. I love Shane, always have always will. I wish he could stay on longer.
July 3, 2010 at 12:47 pm #14169caseyParticipantw/ Kim’s dramatic portrayal (and mind you, I’ve always felt she was excessive in her acting) is the rushed up storyline so she can exit quickly. This makes for particularly awkward and un-credible scenes and quick transitions.
ITA on Shane – I so wish he would return as a permanent character. It’s tough to beat these Brits in acting too – they are all so good.July 3, 2010 at 2:02 pm #14171GrockieParticipantYou can see full episodes at http://www.nbc.com.
July 3, 2010 at 3:51 pm #14173DeeLanParticipantIf it’s the rushed up storyline why isn’t anyone else having trouble with them? I was thinking the other day that years ago the acting and dialogue was more dramatic and less conversational between people. It was always "on the edge of your seat" wondering what was going to happen, what they were going to say and how they would react. It’s gotten more relaxed now. When Kim and Shane were first on she wasn’t as annoying because everyone was over the top or dramatic but now but where the othere’s have evolved, maybe from continuous acting and doing other things Kim is stuck in that mode. Another thing with the last 2 times she’s returned to Salem, she’s been written as angry and very judgemental not soft like Kim use to be. When Shawn died she was angry with Victor and very outspoken. This time she’s angry with Shane and very judgemental of Bo’s relationship with Carly and isn’t afraid to tell him what she thinks
Of course this is just my opinion and usually it’s not worth much.
July 3, 2010 at 5:31 pm #1417553tdogsParticipantKim in the last 19+ years that I’ve been watching has been gone awhile with the exception of what you mentioned when she returned for Shawn’s funeral, acting has changed on the show a lot. It used to be so much more over the top instead of normal conversation.
I like more talking and conversational interaction between the Salem folks now, more normal. It’s more like every day conversation between real people, (with the EXCEPTION of Chloe, Daniel and Carly of course – that same conversation has been going on for weeks now).
There used to be a lot more action scenes – Hope hanging over a vat of acid, Marlena levitating in the air with her possession, Tony and the tiger, John trying to escape Stefano, Bo sailing the Fancy Face…we haven’t seen anything like those in quiet awhile, unless you count Chloe falling down an elevator shaft and not mussing her hair when she fell…
Guess we’ll never get the both of best worlds, action, drama and good dialog…but I did say I’ve been here for 19+ years so there must be something there…when I figure out what it is…I’ll let ya know.
July 3, 2010 at 5:46 pm #14176piewomanParticipantI have never like the character of Kim nor the actress that portrays her. Never – even when she was first on. She chews up the dialog and ruins the scenes. But, it’s not "kosher" to bash the individual actors – so on to the character: Kim was a prostitute, then she was a mental health counselor, then who knows what. How does that happen? She did have an affair with Victor, but I believe that was to "save" Shane or some such nonsense. I thought she’d left town with the ex-porn-guy-turned-legitimate-director, Phil (I believe), with her two kids. She supposedly is getting over leukemia? Perfect makeup, not a hair out of place? Didn’t look frail or tired? Alright, I know – one reason we love DOOL is the suspension of any reality or truth in storytelling. But c’mon – what an insult to those who’ve had leukemia who are watching – or have had loved ones with the disease…Kim could go away and never, ever be mentioned again and I’d be grateful – but if they’d bring Shane back and Kim would have to tag along, I could fast-forward thru any of her scenes, just to get Shane back on the show. I think he’d be great matched with Kate!!!
July 3, 2010 at 10:45 pm #14186caseyParticipantin Kim/Shane’s particular case, we’re looking at what – ten years that have gone by offscreen and then suddenly Shane pops up out of the blue and says he wants to get back w/Kim and the reaction/dialog comes out so abruptly on Kim’s part – maybe because they don’t have time to explore this before the actress leaves.
But yeah, your point about how dialog has changed between then and now is very valid. -
