Rafe sure didn’t think twice when Sami told him she shot EJ. IF I bought the temp. insanity theory, okay. But Sami was perfectly of sound mind when she got that call from Kate. She said she was just going over to confront EJ. She sure seemed collected enough when she was marching through the mansion trying to find him and yapping her mouth off.
So where does the insanity come in? When she saw him passed out w/ a gun in his hand? How was he in any shape/situation to cause her harm or take her kids away? I see this as typical kneejerk reaction Sami. And second degree murder. Although there is undoubtedly another who actually did the deed and Sami will once again slither out of it.October 14, 2010 at 1:53 pm #16963PattiParticipantIf E.J. was unconscious on that bed with a 12-inch dagger in his heart, a self-inflicted hole in his head, bleeding profusely from every hole in his face, no pulse, and on fire, I still would have shot him again, just to make sure he wasn’t faking it. All kidding aside (which, I know, most of you think I’m not), I don’t think she WAS in her right mind. Taking into account what she had just been through, and that she almost married this man, only to come face to face with the realization that he was planning to do it all over again by taking the kids the very next day and running off with them once again, I could easily believe she experienced a loss of control of her actions. All she was thinking was that she wasn’t about to let it happen again, so she didn’t think about it, she just reacted to it. I don’t know that too many mothers would not have done the same thing in her case. Actually, for the first time, perhaps, I think she truly thought about her children instead of consequences she was about to bring upon her own self.

This woman, (I refused to call her a girl, even though she is a girl mentally), blows which ever way the wind carries her – She reminds me of the analogy of the feather blowing around in the movie "Forrest Gump". I know she was mad as hell at EJ and she had every right to be, however, Sami, given her frenetic ADHD ways in her normal and "sane" moments is always off-the-wall, unstable and unsure of her actions.
October 14, 2010 at 7:29 pm #16980bradysgmaParticipantIf she had her wits about her, she should have let the gun be in EJ’s hand and made it look like he tried to commit suicide and not leave her fingerprints on the gun. After all, EJ recalled to Stefano the he thought he shot himself while he was drunk.
October 14, 2010 at 9:55 pm #16987caseyParticipantThe way Rafe was talking, he was almost cheering that Sami nearly killed him and their conversation didn’t offer anything that Sami wasn’t in her right mind. But like posters have said, what kind of mind does Sami have to begin with? With her history I admit her behavior/actions are tough to pin down.
October 15, 2010 at 1:55 pm #17000BonbonParticipantthat Sami could pull off the ‘legal’ definition of temporary insanity. The very first thing you have to prove is that the person didn’t know right from wrong. If that was the case, why did she take the gun with her and dispose of it? She absolutely knew what she just did was wrong.
If they use this to get her off, I’m for sure going to put my foot through the screen.
