Other than the fact she’s not wearing any false eyelashes or much mascara, I’m wondering if they are intentionally putting the darkness under her eyes or is it something Ali has that is usually covered with her make-up. I would think that since she DOES wear make-up when in court, they would have her wearing what she normally does. I’m not sure if it’s just for dramatic effect or what. Whatever, she sure does look tired and stressed. And, if it’s make-up, it’s really a good job.
A note about Brady saying to Eric that because the trial is closed, they couldn’t attend, I’m not positive but I don’t that that precludes family from being present.
I laughed when Rafe couldn’t put his hand on the Bible. Why didn’t that stupid bailiff just place the book under his hand instead? Dumb, dumb, dumb. Also, I was under the impression “so help me God” had been removed from the oath.
Also, the bailiff said outside the courtroom the witnesses (Kate and Rafe was it?) were not allowed to talk to each other. WTH? What do they do when they leave the courthouse? Ignore each other? Especially Will and Sonny. “Oh, sorry hon, I can’t talk to you until the trial is over.” GMAB!

And, I thought the same as you did about the bailiff’s comment to the witnesses not talking to each other. Give me a break! The other witnesses (Will and Sonny) were talking to each other all over the place. Not only talking, but kissing and hugging, too.
September 11, 2013 at 2:34 pm #41063PattiParticipantand that Ali is not cursed with dark circles under her eyes. I think the show is doing a great hair/make-up job with Ali showing the physical wear and tear she’s enduring during this prison storyline. Good job, DOOL!
I personally think it was a mistake to do a closed trial. Sort of makes the trial a little underwhelming for me. A packed courtroom with family and close friends on both sides would have been far more dramatic AFAIC.
I liked the effect of Rafe not being able to raise his hand to place on the Bible, but I agree that his presence in person will no doubt be more effective than watching him testify on video. The looks between Rafe and Sami showed me how sorry they both were for one another’s pain. Not that they were still in love, but deeply cared about and respected. Unfortunately, I don’t see Rafe’s or Kate’s testimony helping Sami.
I’m wondering why Kate didn’t bring up the fact that Sami shot E.J. in the head when she was asked by Trask if she knew of any other incidents where Sami had a gun. Maybe because Justin might have blamed her for Sami shooting E.J., because, after all, it was Kate who called Sami and told her that E.J. intended on leaving Salem with the children, and it might have looked like Kate was setting Sami up.
I know they instruct the jury not to discuss the trial among themselves, but the witnesses was, well, either a mistake on the writers, or a drama plot, knowing full well that both Sonny and Will are going to discuss the trial, as are Kate and Rafe. Kinda’ stupid on their part on that point.
Last I heard, the words “so help me God” have been removed from the swearing in of a witness in court, just as the words “under God” have been removed from the Pledge of Allegiance. Pitiful, IMO!

October 2, 2013 at 3:03 am #41237DeeLanParticipantwhen Sami was on death row. Of course that was the time she lost a lot of weight.
