I don’t think it is revenge as much as her trying to take control over the situation. Many people get frustrated when faced with events that they cannot control, so they attempt to gain control by doing something. Her attacking Chad was her was of gaining control over the worst situation in her life. After all, she has lost alot during the last few years, Grace, EJ and now her first born, Will.

Sami has always been impulsive, leaps before she looks, throws blame at everyone around her, and tries to take control before she knows the facts. That’s Sami Brady; always has been her M.O., so any other way for her to have come to calmly try and deal with her son’s murder would be unbelievable to me. I can even understand her using E.J.’s letter as a way to cover, or I should say distract her from, her feelings of pain and sorrow and somewhat stoic at first portrayal of a mother who has lost one baby, then her husband, and now her first-born son all in the last few years. I expect her to calm down at the funeral and hopefully put everything else on hold and concentrate on her matter at hand…Will’s funeral, and I really expect that’s what we will see. She will take off and search for E.J., of that I’m sure, but I just would not understand Sami acting any other way with all that she has had to face.

Sami is Sami – writing her managing this ANY OTHER WAY would be a disservice to the character.
Let’s not forget too Bon (and don’t attack me – i’m not being critical) that most people don’t experience in real life what a soap character does LOL.
Safe to say there aren’t a lot of people who lose a kid who wasn’t theirs, almost get executed for a crime you didn’t commit, sell your sister on the black market etc.
I do agree that soaps sometimes need realism – but let’s face it, Wills death was done for shock value and no other reason. Writing the reactions to be real wouldn’t line up.
October 18, 2015 at 7:21 pm #49091bradysgmaParticipantI didn’t get the reference about we will keep the tigers away. What did it refer to?
October 19, 2015 at 1:33 am #49099powerpaw2ParticipantKind of like saying they’d keep the boogey man or monsters away.
October 19, 2015 at 2:35 pm #49103BonbonParticipantSami that way, just how unrealistic her actions would have been in the real world. I thought that was interesting reading what people go through in circumstances like that. No, true, it wouldn’t have been Sami if she had acted like a normal (typical?) person would.
October 19, 2015 at 4:34 pm #49107PattiParticipant(maybe around 2004 or 2005) with Will Gerse playing the part of Will Horton. There was a circus that was put on with most of the cast as performers, and Sami, Lucas and went together with Will. Sami was part of the circus acts, I think a knife-thrower (LOL) who was after Kate; Tony/Andre was the ringmaster, and much of the cast at that time. The reference to keeping the tigers away referred to that sl, because there was another serial killer back then, and they let the tiger (named Horton) out of its cage, where it attacked and killed Tony/Andre, and then proceeded to be loose and on the prowl. Everyone ran, but Sami and Lucas and Will got separated. Will went up the ladder onto the catwalk and Sami and Lucas ran for the clown car. Will was petrified for his parents safety while watching from atop the catwalk as the tiger came seeking more prey. Long story short, they managed to escape, but Will got nightmares afterward and Lucas would hear him screaming. Lucas decided to move into Sami’s and slept on the couch to be near Will, because of his nightmares, and while he was there they taught Will how to slow dance. The tiger escaped the big top, but showed up a few weeks later in a cave where again LUMI were on a school camping trip with Will. Sami ran and fell into a pit and Lucas scared away the tiger, all while Will was screaming to anyone who would listen not to leave his parents. I don’t think they ever caught that damn tiger. The sl itself wasn’t that long, but it was just one of the many times LUMI were revived as a couple with their son. The line about keeping the tigers away was a nice way of rebooting the history of how many times LUMI disappointed their son, and why they felt they were not good parents and had so little happy memories of his childhood, but would always be there for their son, and especially it was meant to explain why he was so afraid of tigers. Excellent reference to DOOL history.
