for me anyway. I’m not expecting fireworks every day but a lot of lagging scenes and dialog. And Chad of late has become grouchy and annoying. And Gabi – why is she on this show? I find her very blah.
September 5, 2012 at 12:56 pm #35394PattiParticipantThere’s a slow building of the story lines right now, but I find that’s much better than just jumping into something too quickly and then scratching my head and saying to myself, ‘huh? how/when/where did that happen?" I especially like Nick’s story, but I totally agree about Gabi and Chad. I think both of these actors are boring and their talent just seemed to fly out the window, or , as I more than likely suspect, never was there to begin with. I wish they would get into a build-up for Bo’s exit, though; they (the show) certainly owe this actor a more respectful exit story line than they gave a long-time vet like Matt Ashford. Hmmm, I just don’t know Bryan D. Have you started cleaning out your dressing room yet? I can’t see much in your future right about now. (Just speculating this — no spoiler intended).
September 5, 2012 at 6:47 pm #35400luckeyParticipantscenes like today (9-5). He’s a really good actor and shows it so well when he’s not being written like a raving lunatic. When he’s calm and deliberate in a serious scene like he was today with EJ at Sami’s, he’s my favorite! I hate it when he’s in a scene with EJ and he’s portrayed as a sniveling, whining adolescent while EJ sneers at and condescends to him.
Just like you say, Patti, what are they going to do with him? I so wish he could be written as the mature male that he can be in some type of business setting; but, I just don’t see that happening. Because we so seldom see Ally anymore, I wonder if he will win full custody and move away…again…from Salem.
September 5, 2012 at 8:49 pm #35403BonbonParticipantIt is very slow. Could they have drug out that hearing any longer? I was yelling at them, "Get on with it, would you?" They were trying to make it so dramatic and, to me, it just came off as B-O-R-I-N-G!
And why didn’t they show us what Melanie had to say. With all her waffling I’d have liked to hear what she finally decided to say. We don’t know if she spoke for Nick or against him.
September 5, 2012 at 9:27 pm #35405justwonderingParticipantI also loved Lucas today. He really did a great job telling EJ the facts of Sami. I wish that they find a way to keep Bryan cause he is a good actor. To TPIB: pleave give Lucas a story that will showcase his talents!!!.
I like the pace of the stories. It is better than going so fast that you miss the point of the story.
One think that really bugged me was Sami’s dress. I really liked the front, but hated that off color zipper.
September 5, 2012 at 10:45 pm #35407PattiParticipantand if they would just keep writing Bryan like that, I would love it. He had E.J. really thinking about what he said today, and although E.J. was trying to brush Lucas’ warnings out of his face, he couldn’t help but admit to his self that Lucas knows Sami better than any man, and although E.J. may have tried not to show it, he’s worried. That’s why he quickly concocted that little mind game with Sami trying to make her think that he now believes Rafe is Nicole’s baby daddy when he knows darn well that Nicole’s baby is his (EJ’s) child. OR, maybe Lucas was the crafty one here, by giving both E.J. and Rafe enough rope to hang themselves, with Lucas planning that Sami will see that he is best for her after all. He as much told E.J. what he had to do to keep Sami in his life, so was it a trick? If so it was brilliant on Lucas’ part, although I still like them better together as best friends and not as lovers. Lucas gets as possessive as E.J. when he’s with Sami and that’s when he gets on my nerves. Nicole had her smart cap on today today when she saw right through Rafe’s feelings for Sami. The new writers must give it a rest with Sami, stop her merry-go-round of men, and let her step off. Pick a man for her, any one of them, and build on it or on why they should be together. I still predict they’ll put her back with Rafe, and that’s when we will see the real E.J. DiMera return.
September 5, 2012 at 11:27 pm #35409cjwestParticipantI thought the "slow scenes" were great. I feel that Nick is being looked at differently than say Hope who was going to burn Bo alive while on pills. Nick not only took a bullet for Melanie but he also gave her a formula that could have been worth a fortune if she hadn’t let it slip through her hands.
Brian was excellent. He is overlooked as an actor. He did have some attitude problems on his last contract but he seems to be a team player now. They will have to find a love interest for him or his stay may be over . Kate does need a child to argue with and with Billie going Lucas will be the only one on screen unless Parker’s father follows Chloe back to Salem.
September 6, 2012 at 12:15 am #35412caseyParticipanttoday’s episode was better. Chloe returning? Is this speculation or a spoiler?
September 6, 2012 at 2:39 am #35414justwonderingParticipantyes Chloe is coming back. but Billie isn’t leaving, just being recast.
September 6, 2012 at 9:32 am #35416BonbonParticipantyou are giving the writers way more credit regarding Lucas’ motives than they could possibly come up with. I don’t think they can be that deep. But I did think Lucas had some great lines there and delivered them very well.
And I’m not so sure EJ was using a ploy on Sami when he said he was beginning to believe Nicole’s baby was Rafe’s. Again, I don’t think the writers would use that…mainly because they don’t think WE’D get it if they did. Don’t forget, they believe we are all a bunch of turnips on a truck.
I’ve never been a big fan of Lucas one way or the other but if they continue to give him material like that, he would well earn his keep on the show, IMO, of course. I thought he actually/finally did get to EJ and make him take pause regarding Sami.
September 6, 2012 at 3:20 pm #35421justwonderingParticipantPeople complain that Sami never grows up and never changes. I do see some changes in her, and I hope they continue. I really hope that the writers finally help Sami to rid herself of EJ. That relationship is not good for her.
EJ, on the other hand, has never changed. He is a master manipulator and distancing himself from Nicole is his was of getting Sami back (IMO). He can deal with Nicole after he has regained his position in Sami’s life. Does he love her? I don’t think that EJ knows what love is. It is all about winning. I really dislike EJ!!
September 6, 2012 at 4:55 pm #35423BonbonParticipantI think EJ really loved (maybe still does) Nicole. I think Sami is just a possession/obsession kind of thing. Sort of like her, he wants what he can’t have.
September 6, 2012 at 9:43 pm #35431caseyParticipantis a nice surprise for me. I always said keep the feisty headstrong character but mature her beyond the musical chairs beaus and juvenile eruptions.
With Kate challenging to take her down this could be a golden opportunity to see a grownup Sami go toe to toe with Kate – without the childish melodrama.
But I’ve seen an improved Sami that lasts five minutes, so I’m not holding my breath. -
