My dad was severely burned in an accident. Medical bills are mounting. He will be out of work for at least 2 months. If you can help by donating, please go to the website my niece and her fiance set up.

Thanks for your help. Prayers are welcome too.

Thanks. Prayers and best wishes to your father. I know burns are very painful.
August 10, 2012 at 5:45 pm #34881rfsextonParticipantMy dad was working on his lawn mower. It "backfired" and caught fire. My dad was severly burned on the right side of his body. Thank God he had the wits to do "stop, drop, and roll."
He has medicare, but it will not cover all the medical bills. He still works part time to make ends meet. He will be unable to work for at least 2 months. My mom is not able to work at all. My niece and her children live with them. My niece works, but her company refuses to make her full time. Her children are 8 and 10. She gets no child support from her ex.
Needless to say, without my dad’s extra income, they are really struggling.
Thanks for the help.

August 11, 2012 at 11:20 am #34886BonbonParticipantThat is certainly tragic and I know all of us send him our prayers and best wishes for a speedy (and painless) recovery.
It just goes to show, you never know what something tragic can strike.
Yes, Medicare is not what a lot of people think. They only cover 80% of your costs unless you have supplimentary insurance. And they only cover so many days in the hospital (don’t remember just how many now) so if you have to stay a while, you foot the whole bill.
Good luck to him and his family.
August 11, 2012 at 5:18 pm #34891NoraParticipantI am praying for you and your dad. I hope he is ok. I think that would be the scariest thing, being caught on fire! Prayers are on the way!
August 11, 2012 at 10:22 pm #34895BonbonParticipantI’ve always imagined that burning or drowning has got to be the most horrible things that could happen to you.
August 11, 2012 at 11:40 pm #34896rfsextonParticipantThis has been incredibly hard on the family. I had to turn down a job offer because there was way I could move 200 to 300 miles away under current conditions. I’d have to be there in less than a week.Plus the pay was way lower than I was oringally told. No way would I be able to do it time wise, logistics wise, or money wise. Besides, as my niece’s ex said when he dropped off the kids…my parents need me. God will provide
August 19, 2012 at 12:29 pm #35063rfsextonParticipantMy Dad is about to have the next round of skin grafts.
August 19, 2012 at 7:39 pm #35068maxineParticipantI am sure that is painfull, Prayers for your father and for you also. God Bless.

August 23, 2012 at 10:55 pm #35181GoodyParticipantBurns are so very painful; hope he is improving nicely.
