What did everyone make of Stef’s last line in his conversation w/EJ today – about letting his son go his own way?
Am I supposed to read into this a passing of the torch? Will Stef be as involved as in the past?September 23, 2011 at 9:53 pm #26736BonbonParticipantIn fact, I’m wondering if EJ isn’t going to become the new patriarch of the show. They sure seemed to be trying to tell us something, holding up that king like they did. Heck, I’d be happy if they made EJ and Nicole the main characters going forth. They certainly have the talent.
I also wondered if this was a foretelling of Stefano leaving the show. Has anybody heard anything? Although nobody ever seems to leave this show (except for Mickey) willingly.
September 24, 2011 at 2:18 pm #26745PattiParticipantin another thread, but I’ll repeat it here. Yes, that’s exactly what it appeared to be. I think we will be seeing less and less of Joe M. over the next few months. I don’t know if he will be leaving, but I know they are planning to send Kate in another direction in business where her focus and attention will be on working and not pacifying Stephano as if he were a disabled child. I got the distinct impression that Stefano was handing over the reins to E.J.
September 24, 2011 at 4:21 pm #26751luckeyParticipantAnnex Board, but did anyone pick up on the little snippet we saw the other day of EJ searching for and then finding that American flag pin for his lapel? And then notice that Abe is wearing the same type of pin on his lapel? Just sayin…..
September 24, 2011 at 8:40 pm #26753AnotherMrs.HParticipantThat little snippet of EJ looking in the desk at his home was oddly placed. They were in the middle of the hostage situation with Gus and Nicole at the cop shop and after the commercial break that quick scene with EJ and the pin was shown, but then it reverted back to the conclusion of the hostage scene. He obviously did not leave the station during the middle of that scene to go home for the pin. It was weird!
September 24, 2011 at 9:11 pm #26754justwonderingParticipantThis is one of the "previews" of things to come that have been showing at about the half way part of show.
September 24, 2011 at 11:34 pm #26756caseyParticipanttwo and two together and add that up to the “bombshell” EJ is supposed to announce? No need to be a genius to figure this one.
September 24, 2011 at 11:54 pm #26757bluebonnetParticipanta couple of weeks ago showed EJ getting something out of the safe behind Stefano’s portrait. Wonder what that was all about.
September 25, 2011 at 11:41 am #26762BonbonParticipanthe intends to run for Mayor and then they act during the show like there is some big secret coming up. I don’t get it.
The same thing with Bo and Hope’s big secret party. We all know it’s the opening of the new Town Square (or whatever they are calling it.)
Both of these are major "duh" factors if you ask me.
September 25, 2011 at 12:31 pm #26763SWParticipantdoes a quick errand or FFed through? Hmmm, I suspect that showing spoilers then is more of advertising ploy!
September 26, 2011 at 4:50 pm #26784IzzyBParticipantI’m confused about what you are saying. I am not sure how you think the characters should act for these two points.
The characters themselves would not know what EJ is planning, so it would be dumb for the show to act like they do.
Everyone knows the town square is opening, but they don’t know what is going to happen at the party. They know nothing about the food or the special guests. So that is what everyone is buzzing about on the show.
I personally like what is going on. They did a good on wrapping up all the outstanding SLs and showing us hints at the new SLs to come. But nothing has officially started until Friday and today. I liked the snippets, both the flashbacks and the current/future clips. Gets everyone interested in who is coming back, but also interested in the SLs to come since everything is being wrapped up nicely now. I also love the references some of the characters are making. Like EJ saying he knows he has been back and forth and it has made no sense but as of today he is taking his birthright place as a DiMira. It is basically a nod to us fans who think he has not been acting like he should and has been all over the place. Or Sami talking about money (something we have questioned in the past), or Rafe talking about them never dating when they were at the resteraunt (another complaint of them not being happy). There has been so many lines like this that I see it as a nod to the fans. I just don’t understand the complaining about how the wrapped things up. They have 3 weeks to basically wrap up every SL, get the fired characters off the show and start everything over. With that task in mind I think they did an awesome job and in addition they have given us nods of our complaints and got us interested in SLs to come. I like these new writers and I am having a clean slate myself today when I watch the show. I am giving them a month or two to settle in before I start complaining, if there is even a reason to complain.
September 26, 2011 at 5:33 pm #26788BonbonParticipantthe viewers, not the characters. They are writing the show like we have no idea what’s coming up but yet they’ve been showing us what’s going to happen for weeks now. I don’t understand that logic.
September 26, 2011 at 7:05 pm #26794IzzyBParticipantThe promos (which I have not seen) may show what is coming up, but that is always the case. I fast foward through most shows commercials and I don’t watch NBC on a regular basis. So I normally don’t see Days promos. But that could be the case all the time.
The snippets have not really told us much. We saw EJ putting a pin on, or Marlena and John talking about coming back, Carrie & Austin, etc. I think you would have to be in a hole to not know that stuff. But the show can’t skip all the build up just because we know who is coming back. We normally always know who is going to be coming on the show. As for EJ’s surprise that has not been told in the snippets and if it were not for here, I would not know. So I imagine there are a lot of people that do not know what he is planning. I am still confused, not sure how else the writers can tell a SL without a beginning. Even if we know what is coming.
September 26, 2011 at 10:24 pm #26801BonbonParticipantwhere EJ is standing at the podium announcing his candicacy for mayor. I don’t believe that can be considered a spoiler when it has been aired on TV. That was basically what I was referring to.
September 27, 2011 at 4:46 am #26807IzzyBParticipantI think you would be surprised how many people miss promos. I was on the Days facebook page and some people have no clue J&M were coming back. I imagine that had to be on promos too and it was on the snippets. So I think unless it is aired during the show you can’t assume people have watched it and know what is coming up.
