I am now thinking this lack of dialog between Stef and anyone is not simply scene-driven. The last few exchanges among Stef and Andre/Chad had Stef barely saying anything, hardly typical. And before this I am sure Joe was cuecard/promter reading. So just wonder how long JM can retain his Days status.
October 7, 2015 at 7:22 pm #48853PattiParticipantis being written out due to 1) real health problems, or 2) storyline dictated, since, according to Joe, he has made it very clear that he is only interested in working about 2 days a week and no more than that. I think this was the real reason Thaao was brought back. It would not surprise me to see the death of Stefano DiMera during this 9-month arch for the 50th, and Andre taking over DiMera Enterprises as well as becoming the DiMera patriarch. Guess it will depends on how long Thaao has signed on for as well. Once Chad gets out of the mess he is in and the real killer is revealed and either killed or captured, that should be the end of Robert Wilson’s character, Ben Weston. In any case, I think Chad and Abbey will definitely be end game, and I just can’t see Chad and Abbey wanting any part of living at the Mansion or Chad taking control of DiMera Enterprises. Of course, I could be totally wrong in my thinking and Chad will want to continue his father’s legacy, but I just don’t see Abbey being okay with that, so I don’t see him doing that if/when they eventually reveal that Chad and not Ben is Abbey’s baby daddy. Whether or not I’m thinking correctly remains to be seen. In any case, I still believe that the great villain we know as Stefano DiMera is being slowly written out.
October 8, 2015 at 3:39 am #48856TFlo1018ParticipantThat’s why it kills me that EJAMI is out of the picture. With Stefano gone at some point how great would it have been to have EJ be head of the family with Sami by his side – wrecking her own havoc on some Salem citizens.
Chad and Abby are cute and I like them together – but they are NO EJ & Sami in any sense of the word.
It will be sad to see Joe go but it’s certainly time. Even w/o his health issues Stefano has been a bit of a joke for some time now. I’m okay with his departure but I want a good, final, ULTIMATE death for him. Something fitting the Phoenix. But closure for us viewers.
October 8, 2015 at 11:47 am #48860PattiParticipantregarding EJ and Sami. Andre seems a bit of a joke to me at times as well. E.J. and Sami would have been great at ruling the roost as the new DiMera heads of household. However, I’m quite sure you and I would be their only two advocates (and perhaps Bon Bon). LOL! Damn you, James, for refusing to return for the 50th. I haven’t seen a premier for "Wrecked" yet — still no date for a release. Has it hit the cutting room floor already??? I know you are still a newlywed, but damn you should be back here for the 50th at least. Wait, maybe that’s the real reason behind Andre’s return — to return E.J. by continuing what Stefano and Kristin started …. the rebirth of E.J. Dimera and returning him to the fold. Oh, well, wishful thinking, but I know you and I would love to see it happen.
October 8, 2015 at 12:48 pm #48863caseyParticipantwith Andre taking over as DiMera “godfther.” The thing about Stef was he had humor and likability factor to go along with the treachery. Andre leaves me cold. I wish Tony were resurrected (Ala the new Phoenix )and I would say bravo to that.
Although I wasn’t any kind of rabi Ejami fan I would prefer them way over Andre.October 8, 2015 at 1:37 pm #48866BonbonParticipantas the new head of the Dimera empire. Why? Because Thaao has repeatedly said in interviews that he cannot stay interested in the show for any long term. I would think TPTB wouldn’t even contemplate writing him into such an important place if they couldn’t depend on him 100% to stay around.
I’d rather see Chad take over than Andre. And like TFlo and Patti, I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to have EJami come back to fill that position. I don’t think they could do any better that…well, except for maybe Nicole instead of Sami but then we’d lose the kids which I think would be a big loss for the future.
October 8, 2015 at 2:48 pm #48870justwonderingParticipantI am torn because I always enjoyed Stefano. However, it seems that Joe’ s health is failing and I could see that he might be too ill to continue. I also loved Tony and I would rather have "Tony" than Andre. Of course, Andre could become more like the Tony character!! If so, Id be ok with him being the new DON!!
I have no desire to see EJ return, since it was James’s choice to leave (and left the show without giving much notice and leaving during a major SL). Whatever his reason, it is his choice. Perhaps he feels this is his chance to become a bigger star than daytime!
As for who can take over if Stef leaves, I think Chad might be up to the challenge. It would cause friction with Abby but that’s ok cause no couple is ever happy in soap land!!
October 15, 2015 at 10:48 pm #49040caseyParticipantJoe’s use of Oxygen is more than just for the role.
October 16, 2015 at 1:19 pm #49047PattiParticipantas well as the wheelchair. I don’t think JM has the strength to walk around or even stand for too long a period of time. I did have to laugh out loud yesterday, though, when Sami went at him and JM made a fist like he was going to haul off and nail her if she got any closer., and then her threatening to kill Chad and him herself. I can’t wait for her scenes with Andre next week.
October 17, 2015 at 2:15 pm #49066BonbonParticipantHim needing oxygen after having a heart attack just doesn’t ring true. You only need that for respiratory problems. I wonder if maybe he has COPD.
October 17, 2015 at 4:24 pm #49074justwonderingParticipanton Friday’s show. Don’t know if part of story or need based. Joe does look thinner and frail.

October 18, 2015 at 2:01 pm #49082BonbonParticipantway back when if Joe was a smoker. I know Hope was a heavy smoker and it took her a long time to quit but I don’t remember any others. I’m sure some of them did because smoking in the shows was very common place. In fact, thinking now about places it was okay to smoke, I am mortified. Theaters, restaurants, grocery stores, airplanes, office buildings, museums, hospitals, courtrooms, And, yes, I was one of them.
I remember once I was in the hospital with a collapsed lung and not supposed to smoke but one of the nuns (Catholic hospital) walked past and saw me and took them away so I bummed them from the women in the bed next to me. Horrible, absolutely horrible!
Sorry, I guess this really should have gone in the other room, but at least it started out on topic.
October 18, 2015 at 3:42 pm #49087TopazParticipantI recently watched a movie from the 1950s and a doctor offered a cigarette to another character. How times have changed.
October 18, 2015 at 3:51 pm #49088PattiParticipantfrom my vocal cords years ago, my doctor asked me how much I smoked. I told him about half a pack a day, and he looked me astonishingly and said, "hell, I smoke more than that!" Never forget it!!
