Did anyone else notice the sly smile on Stephanie’s face after she heard tha Nathan and Melonie were through.
Nathan is upset after finding Melanie and Philip about to kiss.
Melanie is conflicted and tried to be honest about her feelings.
Philip is pleased as can be. He and Stephanie both have ‘Cheshire Cat’ looks. Who all will be hurt in the foursome?

December 4, 2009 at 9:59 am #8073SWParticipanta boring character and Philip, it seems, the writers can’t decide his age. He now he seems to be going after the young women just like they have Brady doing. I guess with so few characters and so many of them that are related, it’s hard to find matches that wouldn’t make the audience go, "ick."
December 4, 2009 at 1:58 pm #8080caseyParticipantI have never liked this character. I thought maybe the writers were molding her into someone interesting when she initially displayed some integrity in her relationship w/Phil. But since then what a joke – even her so-called being straight w/Nathan on her feelings for him was all part of weaving her web. This girl certainly has fallen far from the tree of Patch and Kayla.
But the real problem here is making her such a bland character.December 4, 2009 at 3:15 pm #8084PattiParticipantwhat the writers are doing to Stephanie as well as to Philip makes me think that somebody up there is trying really really hard to ruin these two characters completely, and they are succeeding. They have turned Stephanie Johnson into a bore, and have now decided that she should become a ‘manipulative’ boyfriend stealing bore. This is pitiful. She is half Kayla…half Patch. My goodness, write her that way. Give her some spunk. That whole scene with the sprained ankle and her leg in Nathan’s lap made me want to hit something…hard! I cannot stand the character the way she is now. She has no chemistry with anyone right now, so if the writers are going to continue to make her this wishy-washy, I can do without her altogether. As for Phillip, I can’t understand his attempts to keep Melanie confused as to who she wants to be with. Phillip doesn’t want Mel; he just wants to prove that he can take her away from Nathan. I don’t believe for a minute that he will stay true to her. Go butt heads with your two mommies and leave Mel and Nathan alone. Speaking of whom, now we have Melanie, who is also supposed to be this strong, independent young woman, master manipulator of men, who has for reasons unknown been turned into this indecisive, whimpering teenager, falling for Nathan, but unable to stay away from her 30-something, on again/off again lover, who has done nothing but prove he is only with her when it suits his purpose. Don’t like Phillip very much right about now either. I know, the soapier the better for some, but honestly, whichever writer(s) take responsibility for these characters and yet another unnecessary, boring triangle/rectangle needs a good swift kick in his/her a$$ right now.
December 4, 2009 at 4:33 pm #8088caseyParticipantYou’ve really made some good points about these characters. Nathan is certainly right IMO for dumping Mel. (of course, who knows what today will bring?)
And yes, it’s a step forward for Mel to be honest, but to what end if she can’t even resist a kiss in public? Now this could work if we indeed see Melanie moving ahead and making an effort to mature and decide who she really wants, if either of these guys. We do have to remember she is only 18.
I would love to see Phillip with a new character more his age and match who can stand up to him. Neither Steph nor Melanie fit the bill for me.December 4, 2009 at 7:01 pm #8092Ms. JakeParticipantEver since Stephanie tried to convince Phillip to change his ways and be thruthful, and go legitimate….the viewers on alot of the websites were up in arms. I must say to my surprise….If she was my daughter, I’d hope she’d want to encourage a guy like "Phillip"to change for the better! But, whatever…that being said, many were upset with "Stephanie’s" character, for trying to change him and not except him for "what" is was. Then the fans grew in favor of Melanie and maybe the writters picked up on that! It seems to make sense to me…I think it’s a mistake, she’s 18! and even Nathan is a bit old for her….but far better then Phillip! Maybe I’m wrong, but I liked the pairing of Stephanie with Phillip, it kind of was (to me) like how Victor and Caroline would have been, with her, he may have been legitimate today….and the shooting and kidnapping lifestyle could have been avoided. Now the writters don’t seem to know what to do with Stephanie’s character…It’s almost like they switched Stephanie’s character with Melanie’s????
