brings back 10 favorites, and can you believe it, that psycho Phillip is one of them, and he’s still wearing those damn pink drawers! UGH!! At least they brought back that cutie I was rooting for last year, Malcolm. Phillip is still the same raving lunatic as he was last year. LOL!
February 16, 2013 at 1:46 pm #37912caseyParticipantin the beginning so I only watched a few minutes. I like Survivor but like a lot of these reality shows of late, the next installment comes right after the previous one and they may burn out that way. The ratings will tell.
I like to see how Cochran operates.February 16, 2013 at 4:41 pm #37915daysfanParticipantWho decides that these are the favorites? I assume there was some kind of online poll to choose although I never saw one. But I really didn’t want to see Philip again or Brandon. But I guess I should be happy that at least they didn’t bring Russell back. I know he has said he’s done but you never know what might intice him back. And there are some ‘favorites’ that I don’t remember even though I’ve watched all the seasons! But then, that maybe speaks more to my memory!
February 16, 2013 at 5:30 pm #37916PattiParticipantbut they brought his nephew back. I like Cochran a lot, too. He’s a very intelligent young man, sorta’ nerdy but can read people like a book. I like Survivor, but it sure seems like a lot of the challenges are repeated from season to season. I don’t know how they decided to bring these particular 10 favorites back. I just know I wish one of them had NOT been Phillip.
February 16, 2013 at 6:08 pm #37918BonbonParticipantthey probably select people that got a lot of "chatter" in the social media while they appeared. You’ve got to admit, most of them were very popular, whether good or bad. So, favorites of the TPTB?
I thought I already posted this but don’t see it so, I’ll say it again. I kind of liked Phillip but was horrified to see him in the pink tighties again. My eyes don’t need that. I think it’s all an act because someone who was a special agent certainly couldn’t be that crazy. I don’t think he’s going to last long because Jeff Probst was on OMG Insider and said about him, "He doesn’t stand a chance of winning." (BTW, I absolutely LOVE Jeff!)
I don’t think we’ll ever see Russell again. He had his own show for awhile on some cable channel (DIY?) where he and his brother would buy a house and renovate it. He was just as obnoxious as he was on the island. They were always fighting with each other.
I can’t believe they didn’t provide Cochran (seeing his red hair and fair skin) with some sun protection. That is awful plus dangerous. He’s got to be in some serious pain.
February 21, 2013 at 3:46 pm #38023caseyParticipantWhy was this woman even on the Favorites? I could think of many other more interesting players to invite. Glad she’s gone first on this team, as she was last time around.
February 21, 2013 at 4:28 pm #38028PattiParticipantbecause he’s appointing himself this spy club leader, even giving who he believes to be his allies their own secret names and planning their every move; but, all the while, everyone is laughing their a$$es off behind his back, willing to let him make a complete fool of his self for now. Him walking around that camp spouting orders to his alliance while still in those rank pink briefs just cracks me up. There’s definitely something wrong with this man; I just can’t decide which abnormality suits him best.
The one they all better look out for is Brandon (Russell’s nephew), who really is a dangerous psycho at heart. In the previews for next week he threatened to pee in the rice if anyone crossed him, and he was serious. Now that’s someone they better pay a whole lot more attention to.
February 28, 2013 at 5:33 pm #38187PattiParticipantthey are so out to get Shamar thrown off, but their game keeps backfiring. Last night they lost Eddy’s hook-up, and the week before, Reynolds eye candy got sent home. These boys better learn to keep their hatred of Shamar to themselves before they’re both on the outside looking at the game from their TVs. Cochran is extremely quiet this time around. Would love to hear what’s rattling around in his highly intelligent brain. Phillip is still pumping his self up on a weekly basis, trying to convince the audience how wonderfully smart and "in shape" he is, but he seems to be playing a team game much better this time around.
February 28, 2013 at 6:12 pm #38191BonbonParticipantHe’s got a terrible attitude and sits around on his butt without helping out at all. I think he’s this year’s Russell and he’ll continue to be obnoxious but they’ll keep him on for a long time. And, yes, I think the decisions are made by the producers, not the participants.
Has anybody noticed how many clothes these people have? It used to be the only thing you had were the clothes on your back but now I’ve seen people wearing different things.
I also discovered those scenes that are supposedly filmed at night are actually done during the daytime. They goofed, I think it was two weeks ago, and showed the same scene twice, one in the daylight and the other at night. I read that they film it with the lens wide open and then put a dark filter on it so it looks like infra red filming. Why can’t reality shows actually be real?
February 28, 2013 at 6:15 pm #38192MKParticipantPatti, I have been watching some of this season but I do a lot of TV hopping while it’s on so I don’t pay close attention to what is going on (and I watch the Middle at 8:00). Now I got a different take on things. From what I’ve seen, Shamar comes across as one angry dude. At tribal, people were saying that Shamar lies and that he is angry a lot. And I know that they always show him laying around at camp so I take it that he doesn’t do much but I could be way off base. Again, I don’t see the whole thing so I don’t know exactly what’s going on. Why is Shamar so mad at Reynold?
February 28, 2013 at 10:26 pm #38199PattiParticipantthat’s for sure, but I think it’s because of Reynolds mostly; now, Eddy is a Reynolds puppet, so he goes along with just about anything Reynolds wants. Shemar probably does slack in duties around the camp, but I get the feeling that it’s because he knows people are trying to get rid of him. Seems the blond girl (can’t remember her name) is his only friend, and even she’s using him because she knows how strong he is and how much they need him on challenges. Actually, Eddy lost that challenge for them in my opinion, because he had about 6 chances to hook that last ring and couldn’t do it, and that’s why Brandon won for the faves. I guess I feel bad for Shemar because he just got back from his tour in Iraq, where he admitted to the one friend he has that he was really affected by what he saw over there. Maybe he has PTSD, but the few times he did pitch in, nobody even acknowledged it. His attitude is bad because his team doesn’t want him there and he knows it. He even threatened to quit, but promised his blond friend that he would stay a few more days and see how it goes. I can’t wait for Reynolds and Eddy to both go, but Reynolds has the idol and he let it be known. That’s why he’s so damn cocky at these tribal councils, but so far it hasn’t gone his way the last two times they’ve been there when he’s made it clear he’s determined to get rid of Shemar. I don’t expect Shemar to go to the end, but I hope he beats out these two losers before he does go.
February 28, 2013 at 11:01 pm #38204BonbonParticipantI’m seeing this in a whole different light too. Shamar was a shirker from the minute he got off the boat. He sat on his fat ass and admitted he wasn’t going to do anything while everyone else was trying to make a shelter. He only helped out when they couldn’t get a fire going. I don’t see Reynolds and Eddy as evil at all.
And if Shamar has PTSD, what in the hell is he doing out there? Survivor certainly isn’t a place to try and deal with that.
BTW, I’m rooting for Corrine and Brenda because they’re from my neck of the woods, even though Corrine lives in LA now.
February 28, 2013 at 11:38 pm #38207PattiParticipantit could be something he has and doesn’t even know it. He shirked helping at the beginning, but he’s been better lately, and these assholes make no bones about the fact that they want him gone, so I guess you like who you like and I like who I like, don’t we, which is the way it should be.
March 1, 2013 at 10:34 am #38216BonbonParticipantI said IF he did, and since he said he was receiving councelling he should know if he has it and, if so, he shouldn’t be there.
Making no bones about wanting someone gone is nothing new. How many people have said that about Philip…including yourself. :o) I don’t think that makes someone an asshole. If you think back, that has happened in every season with someone or other. It’s one of the ways they keep the show interesting. You have to have a villian, which is exactly what they are doing with Shamar. I, personally, think he deserves it. I’d pin the "A" word on him long before Reynolds or Eddy.
March 1, 2013 at 2:07 pm #38220MKParticipantShamar really said he wasn’t going to do anything? So Shamar’s laziness is probably why the tribe didn’t like him from the start. That makes sense. Nobody ever likes the ones that contribute nothing around camp.
