I’ve been a fan of this show from the beginning, but this year’s "Young Against The Old" has me a little more than simply disliking this "younger" tribe. I so want to see the older tribe kick their young butts (which they physically may be unable to do), but if it’s one thing in a competition that I cannot stand, it’s a bunch of bragging, overly confident, disrespectful competitors. If there ever was a time when I want brains and longevity to overcome braun and youth, it’s with this new season of Survivor. I’m counting on your life experience, seniors, to give me more than I saw last night, or these youngsters will simply pick you off one by one. GO SENIORS!
September 16, 2010 at 1:37 pm #16315BonbonParticipantMaybe it just because we’re in the "older" set that we’ll be rooting for them but I’m willing to bet we’ll see a lot of dissention in the younger group’s camp where the seniors, being more mature, will be able to get along better, which, in the long run, will be to their definite advantage. I believe they’ll be able to work together much better and won’t spend all their time strutting around, showing off hard bodies and shapely bikinied curves.
I too have watched the show from the beginning and love how ever year Mark Burnette adds some kind of different twist to it to keep it fresh.
On another note, I don’t think I’ll be watching Apprentice this year. I got to used to the Celebrity Apprentice and don’t want to go back to unknowns now. Maybe I’ll just watch the first episode to see how it goes.
September 16, 2010 at 2:55 pm #16319luckeyParticipantJimmy Johnson is on. When I watched Fox NFL on Sunday, I was amazed at how much weight he had lost and decided to see how long he lasted on "Survivor". To be honest, I wasn’t impressed with the show (JMHO) and it might have been mostly because they grouped them by age. I’m hoping at some point they mix them up. I’m not sure if that’s ever been done on the show. This alliance business is something I encountered for the first time on the "Bachelor Pad" and didn’t quite get it. But, now I see where they probably got the idea was from "Survivor". I’m not sure if I’ll watch every week as it just didn’t seem to be set up fairly.
September 16, 2010 at 8:22 pm #16328BonbonParticipantOnce is was men vs. women. Last year is was villians vs. heros. They’ve had fans vs. veterans. And, yes, eventually they all get thrown together into one tribe. That’s known as the merger and the team that is behind is always glad to see that happen. I’m anxious to see how the young vs. old works out.
I have a hard time keeping up with the alliances because you never know who is being truthful or who is lying their heads off. One guy once said that his g.mother had died while he was on the island just to get sympathy. That was really low.
September 18, 2010 at 12:29 pm #16375caseyParticipantthe challenges would need to be split from the purely physical to mental ones. I thought the “seniors” might have an advantage with the first one, but they didn’t. However, the power medallion might help them out down the line.
As for Wendy, the first eliminated, what a dork. She admitted earlier on that motor mouths don’t last long. So she holds her tongue the entire time til tribal counsel and then goes off on some inane, self-serving ramble which did her in.
I do think the older group can recover if they hold together. If not, this latest installment of Survivor might be worth watching.September 24, 2010 at 10:04 pm #16531PattiParticipantSmart move to take advantage of the young players by only having to use three balls instead of four in the immunity challenge. Can’t believe how they all dove down and dirty into that mud. Jimmy Johnson is the greatest motivator, and I would love to see him in the finals, but he made some remark about believing they would never give him the million, and I can see why. The guy probably doesn’t need a cent for the rest of his life, but it would still be great to see him stay in the competition and show those kids how it’s done. The young man who was kicked off this week, Shannon, was a real piece of work. What a flip-flopping crybaby. Got what he deserved, IMO. Keep running your big mouths, kiddies, as you are all going through a ton of dissension right now. They’re not playing as a team and that could and probably will be their downfall. Instead of fighting to beat the old timers, they’re fighting each other. Hahaha. Serves you know-it-alls right for bragging how badly you were going to beat the old timers. Let that be a lesson to you … mature wisdom beats youthful stupidity every time! LOL.
September 25, 2010 at 12:28 am #1653853tdogsParticipantsince the first season) and a dear Day’s and good friend highly recommended to me. Man-o-man are these people cut throat, I’d be voted off the first day – I’d rather be thrown into a pit with real vipers and try and survive.
September 25, 2010 at 11:49 am #16542BonbonParticipantthe first episode. It’s because it didn’t have "Nicaragua" in the name.
Anyway, I got the second one and can’t believe all the dissention in the young tribe. If they’re going to get anywhere, they’re going to have to put all their petty problems behind them and start pulling together. I’m so all for the olders, and not just because I’m one of them, but because they are acting like adults.
But what’s with that woman that stole the guy’s shoes and "sunk" them? What was that all about? And then to come clean and confess! That certainly didn’t win her any points. Is she somehow mentally deficient?
I couldn’t make it on there because I can’t keep up with all the alliances they form and all the deceit and subterfuge that goes on. I never know who’s alligned with whom and it makes it very difficult to know who to truly root for.
September 25, 2010 at 10:52 pm #16555luckeyParticipantevery week.
September 29, 2010 at 12:43 pm #16629caseyParticipantWhat’s with that Nay person? Talk about any little thing setting her off! She won’t last long if she keeps up the “tude.” I think these head butting personalities will continue to splinter their team and if they don’t figure this out quick, they will fall apart.
They obviously have youth and strength on their side and if united should win most of the challenges. But these childish fools need to smarten up.September 29, 2010 at 1:25 pm #16630BonbonParticipantSurvivor throws in enough challenges that don’t take youth or strength to win. They have a lot that takes common sense and brain power and I think the oldsters lead in that area. I don’t believe they will end up with all the dissention the "kids" have in their tribe. THAT is going to be their downfall.
And watch, after they lose most of their members and they come to the merge, they will then gang up on the oldsters and start voting them off, one by one. I just hope they get their come-uppance before that happens.
September 29, 2010 at 5:34 pm #1663853tdogsParticipantBut then, I ‘are’ one… Brains and common sense over muscles and beauty any day!
September 29, 2010 at 10:07 pm #16653caseyParticipantsome of the team members might be switched even before the merger. That would certainly throw a monkey wrench into the proceedings.
September 30, 2010 at 2:45 pm #16672PattiParticipantbig mistake IMHO, but I think he did hisself in on his final comment right before voting when he was the ONLY one to admit that he might not be in shape to compete. Actually, the challenge came down to accuracy on landing those weighted balls on top of the kegs, and his instructions to let someone else take over when the one throwing started missing the kegs that were further away. They were ahead and Jimmy kept telling him to take a break and let someone else throw, but by the time the one throwing gave someone else (Jimmy T.) a chance, the youngsters caught up and overtook the oldtimers to win. Jimmy J. went out with dignity and wished everyone on his tribe good luck in winning the million. Still think they made a mistake voting him off, though.
October 1, 2010 at 1:28 pm #16714luckeyParticipantabout the group having voted off the best leader they’ll ever see. I agree that they made a huge tactical error in removing a proven strategist and motivator.
