That was a great fight between Sami and Carrie yesterday. VERY well done and a lot of truth on both sides although Sami did a lot of spinning of her version. I was glad to see Carrie finally stand up for herself and start "pushing" back. I would not have taken that much from Sami before I pulled off the gloves.
I don’t see any way this rift between the sisters can ever be repaired. It’s going to give some really good fuel for returning to Switzerland. I wonder if that’s what this is fortelling. Anybody know if Carrie and Austin are leaving the show soon? I hope not.
But I still can’t understand how Sami can be this irate after what she did with EJ. I would think she knows that some day if the truth ever comes out, she comes across as a total hippocrite and the pot calling the kettle black. I’m feel like Will, what she did was much worse than what Rafe did. It’ll be interesting to see how this proceeds.
February 15, 2012 at 1:51 pm #31053caseyParticipanta totally abhorrent character at present. Previously I could always find some empathy for her, but lately she’s just been point blank nasty and snarky with no redeeming qualities.
February 15, 2012 at 2:15 pm #31056PattiParticipantbut deep down I do feel like for years and years, Carrie was the ‘Golden Child’ and Sami got the ‘left-overs’ in the parent/child love department. I know not many will agree with me, but that’s fine — Sami is a core character and didn’t Ken Corday say that the storylines would be revolving around the core families, specifically mentioning the Hortons, Bradys, DiMeras and Kiriakises, with a sprinkle of new characters who will be involved in their lives. So far, that is what I’m seeing, and I do think it’s getting better. I’m actually liking this storyline between Carrie and Sami, and hope they continue to unravel their lives. Sami throwing in that remark about Carrie running off with Mike was a good start to realizing that someone is doing their history homework, and that to me is a good thing. Rewriting characters’ lives and traits is never the way for any writer to go. Sami and Carrie are oil and water, and are a major part of this show’s history. I just hope the writers stay true to their relationship, or at least get to the core of their problems, and to me that will always be the triangle of Roman/Marlena/John.
February 15, 2012 at 3:38 pm #31062dvalParticipantIt always seemed like Carrie was more important to Marlena than Sami was and that is so deep-seated it will never go away, I don’t think. If Sami ever finds out Marlena told Carrie that lip-lock with her brother in law was innocent, she’ll flip. Although I have read some things…left for the spoiler board, LOL. And I have to say that Carrie annoys the heck out of me with her "I’m so much better than you" attitude. She always seems like she is floating above Sami, looking down on her poor little half sister. But I think it was quite telling when Carrie made the remark about why Sami invited Austin in to the loft…maybe Carrie was looking to "get back" at Sami by making out with Rafe.
DARN this was supposed to go under Patti’s post…I never do this right.
February 15, 2012 at 4:24 pm #31065justwonderingParticipantWow, I would love the idea that the kiss was to get back at Sami for inviting Austin. But if that was true, why would Carrie tell Marlena that she has feelings for Rafe?
Carrie had some good shots at Sami. Neither one of them is perfect and their history will never let them be close.
It is ironic that Marlena seems so close to Carrie since she is Roman’s daughter and not Marlena. No wonder that Sami feels strained towards Marlena.
I just can’t believe that Rafe and Austin are being portrayed as some clueless. Usually it is the women who are dumbfounded.
February 15, 2012 at 7:12 pm #31068SWParticipantCarrie toward Mike. Sami did it because she wanted Ausdum. As to Carrie being the Golden Child, I can see two reasons: 1. she was a child who had been used/abused by her own mother when Marlena first met her. 2. Marlena was kidnapped and off screen during 80%+ of Sami’s childhood. Sami has always had a need to be the center of everything – the world revolves around Sami syndrome. I think Marlena and Carrie were closer and may still be because they have more in common than Sami and Marlena. Sami has spent most of her time pushing loved ones away.
jmho
February 15, 2012 at 8:25 pm #31069dvalParticipantbut Marlena, as both a parent and a psychiatrist, should know better than to show favor of one child over another. As far as Marlena being away for 80% of Sami’s childhood, well in fact she has been away for 80% of Sami’s adult crises including being forced to have sex with EJ, being pregnant with twins who had two different fathers, thinking her child died. etc…and Marlena never made any attempts to be there for her. Maybe that’s why Sami can’t have any long term relationships even when they are good..she is always waiting for the other person to leave her .Even when she came back, Marlena has really shown no interest in Sami, only Will. John has shown more interest in Sami’s kids than Marlena has. Now I’m not saying Sami is right. I’m just saying if you are going to make excuses for Carrie, well there are plenty of excuses for Sami floating around out there, LOL. And it just amazes me that Carrie is supposed to be forgiven and let bygones be bygones when nobody wants to do the same for Sami. If Carrie were as mature and stable as she claims to be, she wouldn’t have been trying to suck Rafe’s tonsils out. JMHO of course.
February 15, 2012 at 8:32 pm #31070PattiParticipantyou can "push" (lead) a horse to water, but you can’t make him drink —- just my analogy of that situation. It’s always the same ole’ excuse when the truth of the matter is the one being pushed doesn’t have to act on impulse either; jmho …. also, Marlena’s kidnapping (off screen) during 80% of Sami’s childhood was not Sami’s fault either. That’s why she’s so guilty about why Sami is the way she is now, and that’s understandable to me.
Whoops, meant to post this under SW’s post!
February 15, 2012 at 8:37 pm #31071PattiParticipantbefore I posted, because that was an excellent analogy of Sami and her full-time crisis of not being able to love or be loved, or even stay in love. I totally agree!
February 15, 2012 at 8:41 pm #3107353tdogsParticipantSami has always been this way since she was 15 years old. (With maybe the exception of when Grace passed away).
February 15, 2012 at 8:46 pm #3107453tdogsParticipantself actions, and one cannot blame anyone else for how one turned out, acts or is. Too much namby pamby psych sh_t if Sami is still trying to blame Marlena for the confernence room table scene when she was 15 years old. Get over it, get help and get your life together Sami – I haven’t felt sorry for you since you were 20 years old! And as she is 36 years old now, I’m really tired of saying, "Oh, that Sami..."again and again.
February 15, 2012 at 10:51 pm #31076caseyParticipantmuch as a loving parent involved in her kids’ lives. With the exception of maybe Belle, most of Marlena’s focus was either in her profession or with John. And as for grandkids, forget it. How many scenes does anyone remember of Marlena even holding a grandchild? It’s just this year we’ve seen this close relationship with Will.
As for the Carrie/Rafe thing, I don’t think we’ve seen the end of it. When the Abby/Austin encounter – with Abby not fessing up what really happened – hits the fan, and Rafe finds out about Sami/EJ, I’m betting Carrie and Rafe will be flung together again.February 16, 2012 at 6:44 am #31081majencoParticipantI feel Sami, Carrie and Marlena are all deeply flawed but only Sami seems to be unaware of this fact. She is a big baby and always has been. Get some help honey! Loved her haircut though!
February 16, 2012 at 12:23 pm #31083BonbonParticipantEverybody has had some adversity in their lives growing up. But it’s over and done with and dwelling on it isn’t going to help anything. The best thing Sami could do at this point is get some psychological (or maybe even psychiatric) help. She is in dire need of it. She’s got to stop blaming everybody else for everything and start learning how to live her own life.
As for Carrie being the "golden child," I can understand that because she never gave Marlena the grief Sami did. Now I know you don’t favor one child over the other but when you have one like Sami, it’s pretty difficult to do that. I’m certainly not saying Marlena is blameless, just that I can understand the behaviors all the way around.
