I know this is the Christmas tradition but I find it strange. First off the kids with the bandages. The kids are in the hospital, we get it, they don’t all need bandages. Plus where are their parents? These kids are alone in the hospital on Christmas? Then the story itself. I get it’s from the bible but kids that young don’t know what a census is or understand decrees from Ceasar Augustus. I find it hard to believe kids that age would sit still for this type of story.
at the depiction of these “sick” kids. And yes, the straight gospel Christmas story is pretty bland and over the head for youngsters but I believe it’s good to expose them to a tradition early on, and they will pick up understanding as they age.
Well I was raised Catholic where you were exposed to lots of biblical passages that you had little capacity to understand but that was in church, not in the hospital. Also they might not all be religious so they are probably just waiting for Santa!
are on every kid’s mind. But regardless of religion, simply from a historical standpoint kids should at least realize why they are celebrating the day. It’s been a Days tradition at the hospital since way back when.
No matter your religion, Christmas is most connected with Christianity. Yes, there are other celebrations in December, but by far it is about the birth of the savior. Most of those children are old enough to know that story. Besides, most of them are cast members’ or staffs’ children, so they know how to behave.
I always like that DAYS has some religion in the story.
