Did anyone see this show? I almost never watch tv series but the concept of an autistic surgical resident made me curious. I was soooo impressed! This character Shawn is more of what I had hoped from Theo. The writing and portrayal was fascinating and very moving. I’ve never seen this kind of depiction and the actor is playing him brilliantly. I highly recommend you tune in.

and this was one of them.  I taped it mainly because of Freddie Highmore, a fast-rising young actor, who played this type of role several times, i.e., a brilliant but tormented young man.  He is probably remembered most as the son in the "Psycho"spin-off, "Bates Motel".

the initial episodes I am loving the title character, but not so much the surrounding cast. I find the portrayals rather stereotypical and it is really outlandish how the head of Shaun’s surgical team is not allowing him to do anything beyond suction. Are you kidding? This is a teaching situation and residents must learn a protocol of skills – this is surgery!!
Whenever Shaun is on camera I love it; otherwise not so much. I want to see this character fleshed out and truly tested, especially emotionally.

portraying autism, IMO.  I don’t have anyone in my family who is autistic, but I know people who do, and they relate more like Freddie as Dr. Shaun Murphy than anyone, especially the young man who portrays Theo on DOOL!

Now you’re talking! A superb show that not only explored Shaun’s life outside the hospital but gave us more insight into his history and challenges. Also, the cases were unique and well done. Those who aren’t watching are missing the most intriguing character on tv.
