After taking a good look at that tree, I’m sorry, but to me it’s downright pathetic. All it has are the lights and name balls. No tinsel, garland, ribbon, or anything else sparkly. I think it’s pretty ugly.
And the same thing for the one in the Town Square. I’ve seen other trees they’ve done, like in the Dimera and Kiriakis mansions and even Mar and John’s place that have been beautiful. Do they think other decorations take away from the balls? I don’t know but I sure want to get my hands on those trees and "finish" them.
But then, I’m so "in the spirit" this year that I put up two trees, small but two nevertheless. And I’ve taken out decorations I haven’t used in over six years. But, let me add this…I DETEST the lights. It seems every year one, two, or several strings just want to give me problems. This year I’ve got four strings that are only half lit and I can’t figure out why. I have a large moose who’s head moves back and forth and the only lights that are working are his antlers. Grrrrr…

December 18, 2011 at 10:59 am #29694BonbonParticipantone of those. I bet that’s beautiful. But it’s still electric and something would happen to it for me. I have about 12, I think, little gadgets that you slip onto each light bulb that has a "spray" of fiber optics sticking out of each one but it didn’t really have the effect I was hoping for. I put them on my outside lights.
I had a very nice artifical tree for so many years that the last time I put it up, it was losing as many needles as a real tree at the end of it’s life so I finally tossed it. Now, I just have a small "table top" tree that I put in the middle of my coffee table. It’s pre-wired (with about 10-15 lights now out!) and takes me about 10 minutes to decorate. I’m not usually home for Christmas anyway so don’t put it up often. I think at my age, that’ll be it for me.
December 18, 2011 at 3:09 pm #29701NoraParticipantWe always had a real tree growing up. but as we got older and werent home alot on Christmas mom decided, to throw out the real tree and buy one of those little half trees that just hang right on the wall. (not the upside down ones!) we put ours in the front window. but it’s really pretty and none of the hassell of the real tree. we still decorate the house for Christmas too so it’s not like we’re missing out.
