I really cannot bear to watch EJ anymore. He has descended straight into sleazy hell. After all his talk about how Stefano didn’t realize what children need and that’s what happened to him and Tony here he is putting his son through the same or worse. Yuckkk….I’m at the point where I wish the character would go. I see now way to redemption for him.
His condescending tone with everyone to whom he speaks just has gotten to be too much. He even talks to the kids that way. Awful, awful character and I want him gone.
But that little Johnny, wow what an actor. He has great expressions and his emotions seem so real.
December 13, 2010 at 8:43 pm #18943NoraParticipantI completely agree with you. he is absolutely completely repulsive. I want to put my hands around his neck and squeeze REALLY hard. and i’m a weakling. he’s become the new Kate, at least Kate has become a tolerable almost likeable character now, before you just hated her. There is nothing about EJ that is likeable. After this he isnt even attractive.
And how adorable was Phillip in that flashback!!! OMG! I have a feeling they are setting us up for a Phillip/Chloe pairing. which I dont mind one bit. if she doesnt end up with Dan let her be with Phil!
December 13, 2010 at 8:46 pm #18944majencoParticipantHe is irredeemable now. This business with telling Johnny his mother doesn’t love him! He obviously doesn’t love his kids one bit. As for Chloe and Phil, I am all for it.
December 13, 2010 at 10:01 pm #18954PattiParticipanta prelude to a death sentence for E.J. DiMera. I simply cannot stand to even hear him open his mouth any longer. It’s one thing for him and Sami to go back and forth with the snarky attitudes, finger-pointing and threatening accusations; it’s entirely another to subject this child to submit to being the little puppet his father expects him to be. I could have kissed that kid, both yesterday and today, first when he told E.J. "I hate you," and then called E.J. "stupid." At least Sami doesn’t tell him that his father hates him. She has always told him and Sydney that their daddy loves them very much, no matter how much her heart was breaking to say it. I feel so bad for Johnny and Sydney being raised by that pig. I’m going to cross my fingers and hope to die, and even wish upon a star, that these writers have the good sense to write this character off. There is no redemption in this pig….none that I would accept anyway.
December 13, 2010 at 10:50 pm #18963caseyParticipantEJ quizzically looked at Johnny when he told him he was okay. I just love watching that kid!
December 14, 2010 at 1:30 am #18969luckeyParticipanttheir beloved EJ. I thought his rape of Sami was despicable and made him totally irredeemable in my eyes. What he’s pulling now is beyond anything I’ve ever seen in any soap I’ve watched over the last 50 years. I was 10 when I started watching "General Hospital" with my Mom, so I’ve been around awhile and watched quite a few. This guy is pure evil. I also have a hard time watching this character because I’m so sure that he will never get any worthwhile payback. That’s part of the love-to-hate feeling that a viewer has for a character…knowing that at some point the villain will get back equally what he/she dished out, which keeps us watching. That just doesn’t seem to happen to EJ.
December 14, 2010 at 2:32 am #1897053tdogsParticipantcorrect Luckey. He is a monster. Vivian in the casket all those weeks, Kate gutting fish on the trawler for years, Sami suffering by having her kids taken, Nicole loosing her baby, Hope doing some time in jail, Lexie put in the cave, etc., all have had their just desserts at one time or another for their evil deeds. For the life of me though, I can’t think of anything that Victor or Stefano had in retribution for their misdeeds but then EJ does make them both look like church mice with his "sins of the father".
December 14, 2010 at 10:21 am #18979SWParticipantit’s obvious that when Stefano took him away from Susan (never explained that one) that he should have known how Johnny would feel having his mother gone. He’s becoming just like his father – my way is the only way! He’s even worse than his father in some ways as Stefano just hired his dirty worker help, EJ does it himself! I loved seeing Rafe go to Victor and asking his help! Loved the "What do I get out of it?" from Victor and Rafe says, "You get to tell Stefano when I bring his son down." or something like that. Victor got such a kick out of that comment! lol I want to see EJ go down and I want to see Rafe do it. Sadly, if history continues this way though, Rafe will be the new Fauxman, constantly chasing the Dimera but never getting the evidence on him to jail him. Maybe Marlena needs to return and poison the son like she did the father? Oh wait, her daughter did try to get rid of him in a different way. Ah, history repeats itself again.
December 14, 2010 at 12:33 pm #18983BonbonParticipantYou realize, don’t you, that the more you profess your hatred for EJ, the better TPTB like him? You say you hate the character but like the actor so why would you want him written out???
While I agree his character is unredeamable (unless they can think of something way far out there to cause him to be this way), I can’t imagine the show without him. I’m like Pammy, no matter what he does, he still holds a certain likabilty to me. (Okay, you can start throwing stones now.) I think the show would become very boring without his actions.
I can remember feeling that way about Angelica Devereaux. She made the Wicked Witch of the West look like Shirley Temple but she added so much to the show I was sad to see her leave.
December 14, 2010 at 2:00 pm #18989PattiParticipantever hating a soap character this much. I’m even starting to genuinely dislike James as well, mainly because of the way he looks, and some of the things he’s said in recent interviews. Plus, I hate his haircut. Seems like it’s taking forever to grow out, and I don’t see one thing attractive about it. Guess I’m doing the "wishing in one hand" that you’re reminding us all to do every now and then; but, honestly, I sincerely hope that Chad’s entrance as a DiMera is the beginning of E.J.’s exit story. Hey, can’t blame a gal for trying. As for what these writers will do with those who hate a character, I won’t buy that one. They have their favorite actors that they adore writing for. What other reason would Alison Sweeney be on for so long? It’s certainly isn’t due to her talent as an actress, but KC has always adored her, and James is in that same category, IMHO. They are both fair actors, but when it comes to drama, they are both waaaayyyyyyy over-the-top as far as I’m concerned.
December 14, 2010 at 3:18 pm #18993annieoParticipantYour comments, as always, are spot on! Or let’s say, I, at least agree with you. I will have to say that the Johnny character is getting better, or maybe that one twin is a better actor than the other. I definitely agree with your assessment about James Scott. I said that in another post somewhere that I wish his hair would grow out soon. Don’t know if you are a Desperate Housewives fan, but the actor who plays Paul Young makes that character truly despicable and I believe he’s going to get what he deserves very soon. Wish I could say the same about the EJ character. Ali & James are both just overly dramatic. We need a break. By the way, would an eye issue be identified by a teen from just looking at a photo? I have many photos in which the eyes are red, white, glaring, etc. A lot has to do with the camera, angle and photographer.
December 14, 2010 at 4:26 pm #18998dvalParticipantThere are characters you LOVE to hate and I think mostly that is because there is some form of humanity and even a little humor shown by their portrayers. EJ I just plain HATE, cannot think of one thing I even remotely like about this character. Even though Sami has done some horrible things I can still feel some form of compassion for her character because I think Ali portrays her well as someone who doesn’t think she can rely on other people, only on herself. The never learning part is tiring but that is the writers, not the actor. Hopefully now Rafe will help her understand that she doesn’t have to do everything on her own. Somebody loves her and is there for her. And I want to see EJ get kicked to the curb like the dog he is. I don’t think he adds anything to the show at this point. I don’t even like to watch when he’s on, usually go do a load of laundry and wait for his scenes to be over.
December 14, 2010 at 5:58 pm #19001maxineParticipantI have never really like EJ, but I do think he is a Great actor, and a cutie.. one way to get EJ redeemed is to have his being shot has done something to his brain, and he is not really himself. LOL..… One thing that we can all agree on is that EJ did or does LOVE his Children, ..I know what he did with he and Sami’s daughter, but she was to young to know what was going on , but with Johnny being of age to know whats going on, EJ is a bad,bad man now but I do feel that he loves his children, so I will say when Sami shot him something else happen to his brain. what do you guys think ???. I think tptb is pulling our leg. at least I hope so..I hate the way he is acting now.
December 14, 2010 at 6:11 pm #19002DeeLanParticipantI don’t think EJ loves or loved his children, they’re just possessions to him. If he really loved Sydney he wouldn’t have thrown her out with Nicole as soon as he thought she wasn’t his. You can’t just turn love on and off with a switch. When he found out Sydney was his he wouldn’t have put her with someone she didnt’ really know, I mean how long had Anna been gone and out of Sydney’s life. Yes she was still young but at that age children do know their mother and father or at least the person that’s been playing that role and will cry for them. His spending a few minutes or an hour with her once in a while doesn’t make it OK. If he loved Johnny now he wouldn’t be tormenting him by telling him his mother doesn’t love him or want him. That honestly sounds like something Stefano would do and maybe he’s done that to EJ, telling him Susan doesn’t love him.
To EJ revenge is the only thing he knows and his children right now are the possessions he has that will help him get that revenge. He knows how much Sami loves her children and he’s doing the one thing that will hurt Sami the most.
I know everyone says Sami is an unfit mother but the one thing she does have going for her is her love for her children. Look at Grace. She thought she was her child and even after she found out she wasn’t her’s biologically she still loves and mourns her. If Grace was still alive I’m sure Sami would have faught to keep her and wouldn’t have turned her away. Even though Sami loves her children that really isn’t enough either, she lacks the common sense to do what’s right for her children which is to start acting like the adult and not expecting her children to play the parent role.
December 14, 2010 at 8:03 pm #19007shadowParticipantSami has proved that she really doesn’t love Johnny as much as she pretends. The minute she was told Rafe would be in big trouble with Abe and Bo if they found out he was an accomplice in E.J.s attempted murder, she called E.J. and told him she would make a deal with him. Poor Johnny, thrown under the bus so self centered "mommy" could get what she wanted(to keep a man in her life).
I want to watch Biggest Loser tonight because a man in our town is going to be on the finals, but I don’t think I can stomach Ali Sweeney through the whole show. As someone said, you can get too much publicity and people get tired of seeing your face.
