suggestion – taken from Bonbon’s remark about having to write day-in-day-out/year-after-year-after year-decade after decade – I do understand that even Shakespeare or Capote or any other writer for that matter could not keep it fresh. So why not do reruns? I would love to see the first 40ish years (even in B&W) and if they don’t exsist – some early "Day" must exsist some where in a dark vault (look under DeMansion) or some where.
Pay the actors, and anyone (and the lawyers – there are always lawyers) else involved the royalties…That has got to be cheaper than lights/cameras/sets/what the pay scale is of actors now. If they just wrote for 23 weeks a year…then they (writers and Corday) would have no excuses – I think (just speaking for myself) would be very happy for a very good SL instead of rinse and repeat for six months out of the year anyway. It could save our show!
Think about this – How much fun would it be to see Alice and Tom again? Stefano at his baddest? Phillips face-transplant, Jan holding Shawn hostage, the space twins – (well, maybe not those last few)…I’ve only got 20 years and CRS anymore – So for me, even going back to the day where Marlena was on the dock and John saw her again – I would LOVE that! I’m sure there would be others of you all who would as well – am I wrong folks? I still love Days always will – but it’s like that joke about what rooms in the house you use for you know what when you are in different stages of being married Honeymoon, Hallway and you will have to look up the punch line on your own.
July 15, 2012 at 12:12 am #34280NoraParticipantPatti will you meet me over on the annex board and tell me what’s coming???? Please? I will give the new writers the benefit of the doubt, and give them a chance, I hope they don’t disappoint us as fast as the current writers did. Remember? they promised big SLs and interesting ones, and that fizzled out fast. I watch the show live and in person too bonbon, so I never FF either, although I have switched channels a couple times I do admit. I still get excited when one o’clock rolls around and when it’s not on for some reason I get disappointed, like with wimbeldon, and now a whole freaking month with the Olympics!

July 15, 2012 at 1:29 am #34282PattiParticipantregarding the cliffhanger. See you on the Annex Board in a little while.
July 15, 2012 at 6:48 am #34283BrandyRoseParticipantI guess a lot of us have our favorite actors to watch on the show.
To me, it seems one of the reasons for strange shifts in DOOL storylines could be the result of problematic contract negotiations; or an actor deciding to leave, which is going on right now.
Sometimes I think I, or someone on this site, could probably write better material, lol. Even then, I figure not everyone would always like our creations.
Many kudos to you guys for making this site peaceful and for respecting each others’ opinions! It is noticeable to someone new like myself; and it’s good to be able to include my view.

July 15, 2012 at 2:33 pm #34288PattiParticipantthat’s what they are hired for. The only thing that should get the network involved is if the show (any soap) is over-budget or contract negotiations get in the way of a continuing storyline for an actor. Then it’s time for TPTB to get involved; otherwise, they should stay out of the writing of the stories. The old writers, the ones who claim they were "hog-tied" by NBC …. bah …. sour grapes AFAIC; I don’t believe that for a minute. If the show is well written, the stories exciting, the contract negotiations intact, and the spending is within budget ….. there’s not a writer in the world who can tell me they were "hog-tied" by the network, or by the production company for that matter. I’m sorry, I simply don’t believe it. Why would any network even do that.? I’ll tell you why I doubt it …… THEY DON’T! The old writers had little to no experience in the head-writing department and a great deal of their writing consisted of dropped story lines, ludicrous character reversal, and outrageous ignorance of the character’s history with one another. Adding to that we suddenly got a town filled with revolving bedroom doors and veterans who returned and practically immediately back-burnered. The old writers just ran out of ideas and the show reached the point where it was obvious that they didn’t know what they were doing any longer. Meanwhile, the powers looked the other way believing the writers could fix it, and when they realized it was way too late, MAR/DAR were fired. Gary Tomlin and Chris Whitesell do know what they’re doing. They know this show’s history like the back of their hands, especially GT, who was the executive producer at one time. Chris Whitesell also has more writing experience in his pinky finger than MAR/DAR had between both of them. So, that being said, I once again find myself more than willing to give them the chance to prove it if it means it will save my favorite daytime show.

July 15, 2012 at 10:59 pm #34301majencoParticipantI would love to see them do specials on all the couples. Like let’s see Bo and Hope, John and Marlena and Patch and Kayla from the beginning of their relationships to the present. I would love to see Patch and Kayla’s wedding again or Bo rescuing Hope from Harry. I would even rewatch the posession storyline and all the Kristan/Susan stuff.
July 15, 2012 at 11:24 pm #3430253tdogsParticipantget a chance to watch all the Kristan/Susan stuff again… LOL! I actually miss that stuff now-a-DAYS…
