They’ve gone way overboard with Sami. And I don’t believe two people could listen to that rant and respond as calmly and meekly as Marlena and John did. I would expect a mother to tell her, "Now just a minute young lady, that is enough."
I hope they find Johnny fast because I just can’t take much more Sami. She needs a doctor all right but not a psychiatrist, she needs one to give her some sedation. Which certainly wouldn’t be out of line considering the circumstances and her actions.
November 16, 2011 at 8:27 pm #28802lynnekarenParticipantBonbon, that’s what I said in another post. Most parents are sedated during something like this, she needs it. I can’t stand her character!!! I don’t even feel sorry for her and I should, that’s how much the show has turned me off of her.
November 16, 2011 at 9:31 pm #28811PattiParticipantshe was going to make the two of them wish that she (Sami) was never born ……… uhhhh, I think they probably already do ….. I know I do, and I have always defended Sami, but she has become unwatchable, even for me.
November 16, 2011 at 10:50 pm #28813caseyParticipantthe brass at Days will never mature Sami because they believe these outbursts provide such uber drama. Well, if they believe this is what the fans want, they are sorely mistaken.
Yes, Sami probably had some valid points about Marlena’s defense of John, but the way she said it was truly nasty.
Sami is supposed to be a spitfire, wear her heart on her sleeve character who screws up but we inevitably forgive. Don’t know about this time. She is really wearing on me.November 17, 2011 at 2:16 am #28815dvalParticipantYou and I usually defend Sami but this is just over the top. I get feeling like you want to blame somebody but most people don’t do it that nastily, in frustration yes but normally break down after doing so because it is just venting. I so was beginning to see daylight for Sami, out of the terrible teens and FINALLY into adulthood. But nope, TPTB just won’t allow it and personally Ali/Sami is way too old to be so immature. Will is more of an adult than she is. and just as an aside, I can’t stand that pouty face AS makes sometimes. Although it does fit her 15 year old behavior.
November 17, 2011 at 11:54 am #28816PattiParticipantherself in the aftermath, when the truth all comes out, and I do mean ALL. I don’t know, sometimes I get the impression that AS could care less whether she remains on DOOL or not. It seems to be the one job of hers that she is the least interested in how she is displayed in the audience’s eye. She should be worried, especially about the fans she does have, and should return to reading the boards, which was always one of her priorities. I can understand if an actor takes this kind of role in a movie or a television show, but these people are in our lives day after day after day for years and years now. At some point they must care about how they are portrayed. It’s not all about a paycheck for someone like AS, who has been with this show for the past 18 years or more. And it’s going to get worse …. a lot worse. I can’t say much more than that, because this is not a spoiler board, but you simply will not believe some of the atrocious behavior coming from Samantha Gene, and all because she jumped the gun, putting the horse before the cart, as usual. I just hope for my own satisfaction that it all works out, because I do think Sami is an integral part of this show, but she is losing ground practically overnight with this story line and with her OTT acting as well.
November 17, 2011 at 12:00 pm #28819BonbonParticipantearly in our marriage and one thing that was brought up is when you are fighting (not disagreeing, not discussing, but fighting), you should always keep in mind that there are some things you never say because they may cut too deeply and never be fogotten by the other person. Even if you feel them at the time, you don’t say them.
I believe Sami made that mistake yesterday in her rant against both Marlena and John. Once this is all over, the only choice she will have is to say she is sorry and I don’t believe that will be sufficient to cancel those words. (Remember how Marlena said she DID mean what she said?) Even her grief did not give her license to say what she did…ESPECIALLY to her parents whom you only get one set of.
November 17, 2011 at 1:52 pm #28822caseyParticipantto start with the writing. Sami is getting too big for her britches, first and foremost due to the script. I read even the actress is not fond of her recent portrayal. I don’t know also how much of her shrieking is due to direction or her own take on it. Afterall, Sami has always been hysterical. Given hi-charged lines like “if Johnny doesn’t come home I’ll make you wish you were never born!” I don’t know how less intensely she could recite them.
So what I’m saying is I’m not sure to what extent Alison can be held accountable for the out of control direction Days has provided. Sami is a runaway train right now that could derail the “feel good” foundation Days has laid. They simply refuse to change her “enfant terrible” personality.November 17, 2011 at 2:01 pm #28825KseeParticipantI sadly have stopped watching for this reason, I just read "Days Cafe" to keep up to date,
November 17, 2011 at 5:41 pm #2883953tdogsParticipantline in your post!
November 18, 2011 at 12:31 pm #28861BonbonParticipantsetting aside the horrible writing for her and probably her direction also, i.e. the ranting, Ali is doing an amazing job in this portrayal. She actually brought tears to my eyes yesterday (as did Rafe). When she was sitting there in the chair with her eyes closed, you could feel her pain.
It’s really a shame because Ali IS a very good actress but to have her have to portray this crap is uncalled for.
And three cheers for Will for trying to talk some sense into her. Many times I’ve felt he is much more the adult in the family, well, until Rafe came along anyway. He’s still much more mature and has more common sense than his mother.
November 18, 2011 at 3:26 pm #28873PattiParticipantwhen her and Rafe were alone, after Bo and Hope left and Will and Gabbi left, and everything began to sink in, all I could see was a mother in horrific pain thinking the worst possible scenario for her missing child, and I thought she was finally convincing in her portrayal. I’m sure I’ll quickly change my mind once she goes on her next rampage.
November 18, 2011 at 5:17 pm #28881caseyParticipanta bravura performance by AS yesterday.
November 18, 2011 at 6:39 pm #28883MKParticipantI loved all the performances yesterday. They were especially powerful, including Sami’s. LOVED Will’s portrayal. His really stood out to me. His eyes were all red even when he wasn’t crying. You could really feel everyone’s sadness. I thought Stefano was fantastic and seeing Bo and Hope re-living the whole Zach tragedy was extremely touching. I don’t think I fast forwarded at all yesterday.
November 18, 2011 at 8:06 pm #2889853tdogsParticipantWill did an excellent job and as a young man to go over and apologize to his grandparents took big cahoonas to do that in such an adult manner, you will never see his mother apologizing for her ridiculous and crazy attacking outbursts.
I hope Bo and Hope also relived Cierra’s kidnapping as that would be closer to home, Johnny hasn’t died, and until they have proof as cops they should keep the faith – I can see them thinking of Zack’s death at a time like this and fearing the worst, but (and like I said I’m seeing a day behind), they should also be thinking of what they went through with Cierra at that time (and I’m not speaking of the odds that they were at with each other, but what they felt with a child who was actually kidnapped).
EJ should be twisting in agony and mind/heart numbing guilt and remorse as he caused people to feel like what he is feeling now.
