Summers in the past used to have only reruns of shows but now it seems my DVR is working overtime recording so many shows! Right now, besides Days, I am recording The Closer (I still haven’t seen Monday’s episode yet), Rizzoli & Isles (didn’t watch yet), Big Brother (stopped watching it a couple seasons ago but started again), Hoarders on A&E, Hoarding: Buried Alive on TLC, Intervention, House Hunters on Vacation, House Hunters International, Masterpiece Mystery, and Project Runway which I am so excited for as I just saw the promo for it the other day. I think it starts July 28.
What shows are you guys watching this summer?
July 13, 2011 at 4:21 pm #25154BonbonParticipantbecause practically everything I’m watching is on a cable channel.
Burn Notice (#1), CHAOS, Little Couple, Pawn Stars, American Restoration, America’s Got Talent, Toddlers and Tierras (I can’t believe some of those kids and their behavior!), Rizzoli and Isles. I will be watching Project Runway and just hope it doesn’t interfere with so many other shows this year. Last year I had to DVR it in the middle of the night on a regular (not HDTV) channel and it was like four days later.
July 13, 2011 at 6:56 pm #2516653tdogsParticipantSunday nights is a good night, 11 shows to tape! I’ve even started taping "DOOL" again this week. I watch a ton of History and History International channels, TLC, Discovery channel, HGTV, FNC, Cooking channel, always like to learn stuff. And they present it in such an interesting concept. Heck, I even watch CSPAN when there’s something going on, although, you cannot DVR CSPAN, those congress people are too bloviating and jabberwocky. LOL!
TNT, FX, USA, etc., is great for dramas, as well as Hallmark channel for nice, family movies. BIO, National Geo., and Animal Planet of course! HBO – I watch rarely as I don’t care for most of it, but it’s free for another six months and once in a while they have a "new" movie on worth watching if I can find two hours to sit and watch. TMC and AMC is great for my old Cary Grant and Hitchcock movies. TBN, HALO, EWTN for my church programs. FoxNews and Fox Business for news I haven’t watched the local news in years. NBC, CBS, and ABC, once in a while for one or two of their shows…
Oh my gosh, after reading all that I watch, I think I need a second DVR!!! And really, truly I do limit T.V. watching to only about two hours spread out through out the day…which is why my DVR is always full…
July 13, 2011 at 9:42 pm #25167caseyParticipantwhich is among my favs, plus I like Hell’s Kitchen. I also am “hooked” on Celebrity Rehab.
July 14, 2011 at 4:02 am #25175DeeLanParticipantHistory Detectives on PBS started a few weeks ago and we have to watch Royal Pains, Eureka, Warehouse 13. The there’s Chaos which should be ending for the season sometime soon. Finishing up with 2 episodes to go of Gene Simmons: Family Jewels (think they’re leading up to a marriage proposal on the last show).
I know there are probably other shows but for the life of me can’t remember any of them right now.
July 14, 2011 at 11:55 am #25180NoraParticipantI am watching Franklin and Bash on TNT, of course all foodnetwork shows some new ones some repeats, Hell’s Kitchen starts the day after my birthday!! Drop Dead Diva on Lifetime. and Rizzoli and Isles on TNT.
July 14, 2011 at 6:56 pm #2519253tdogsParticipantthey have been going through in the last six months turns out happy for them…poor Jennifer, I can relate in her situation, but with her medical problems, it’s going to be doubly difficult. They just seem so nice – and truly made for each other, not because of the physical but because of the spiritual side of their personalities.
Pawn Stars is a hoot isn’t it? It would be fun to go in and check out all their stuff!
FYI, does anyone know (I’ve never checked this out) but can one go down to Wallymart or Target or Sears and purchase a DVR out right instead of renting one from the cable or dish service or do they hold exclusive rights on DVR’s? And if you can go to a box store or Amazon, will it work with cable or dish service? Just figure that will save me $10 bucks a month or so after initial payment of DVR equipment, especially since my cable bill just went up $10 bucks a month.
July 14, 2011 at 7:43 pm #25193NoraParticipantwe’ll have to discuss Hell’s kitchen Casey!! I LOVE that show! do you watch Master Chef too? He’s not as much Mr. Potty mouth on MasterChef. LOL
July 14, 2011 at 7:55 pm #2519453tdogsParticipantI may (key word being "may" ) watch HK this Monday, as you’ve recommended it to me before…
July 15, 2011 at 12:54 am #25200NoraParticipantYAY! LOL. you wont be disappointed! haha. even though he cusses twice as much on HK than on masterchef! but it’s so fun to watch! think of it as a rated R version of next foodnetwork star. LMAO!
July 15, 2011 at 12:12 pm #25209BonbonParticipantwanting a baby so badly and having such difficulty are going without while others just dump their kids off in a swamp somewhere because they just don’t want them anymore. Or all the drug addicts who should no way in the world bring a child into this world. Too bad there’s not some way to even this out.
I think it’s great how we are able to see the struggles they go through in everyday life because of them being little people. I watch Pitt Boss too (also LP) and really get a charge out of Shorty who is so coarse and gruff but has such a soft heart for his doggies.
As to your other question, I think you can buy a TIVO independently from a cable company but I’m pretty sure there’s still a monthly subscription fee. I think they have us over their knees on this one. And you pay $10/mo.? I only pay $5 for mine. Of course they charge an arm and a leg for everything else.
July 15, 2011 at 12:42 pm #25212caseyParticipantof it is for camera drama, but these contestants behave like such dufuses you wonder how they got to be in such high positions (some are executive chefs). I swear every season no one looks worthy of the title until the very end. For me it works and I get hooked.
July 15, 2011 at 3:06 pm #2521653tdogsParticipantand saw Tivo’s, dish and cable dvr’s for sale, but they were attached to the companies, guess it’s a proprietary device, which is a bummer. I’m in California, if you live in California, every thing is priced at a premium and goes up-Up-UP every year…I think that’s why they always asked for a zip code when I purchase a national product, the first thing they asked for is zip code, and when they find out it’s starts with a 9 number KaaaaaaaaaChing! More money!
July 15, 2011 at 4:45 pm #25220PattiParticipantmost of it is ‘put on’ for the cameras.
July 15, 2011 at 10:28 pm #25228NoraParticipantOH yeah I’m also watching that show with Betty White, Hot in Cleveland I think it’s called, and i think it’s on TvLand. I know it’s on at 10pm but not sure what day. Sorry I’m not much help! LOL.
