Finally, it’s warmed up again. Yesterday morning it was 43° when I got up. Right now it’s 76° and I’ve got the doors and windows open again. Yay!!!
So that means, Patti, your snow should be all gone…right?
February 20, 2010 at 11:15 pm #1069753tdogsParticipantWe’re due for a week of rain-rain-rain here in the west…our weather becomes your weather once it passes over the Rockies…I don’t think winter is over just yet…Keep your snow shovels handy just in case!
February 21, 2010 at 12:03 am #10698BonbonParticipantTHAT DAMNED GROUND HOG!
February 21, 2010 at 12:54 am #1069953tdogsParticipanttooooooooooo funny! Good thing that these kinds of winters are more rarified now-a-days…I remember rain-Rain-RAIN from Oct. 15th to March 30th growing up in California…for awhile there (since 1998 until this winter) it’s been a bit milder…with a few droughts…You are in Florida – right? I was born in Pensacola…never did we ever, never, ever wear anything warmer than suntan lotion in the winter…this year they had frost! Looks like my OJ bill will go up!
February 21, 2010 at 1:02 pm #10712SWParticipantHow would you like to be sleeping away the winter only to have millions of people all of a sudden wake you up from your nice warm sleep, drag you outside in the cold to face a bunch of cameras and lights, and then complain because they say you saw your shadow? How could you not see your shadow with all those TV camera lights on you! Poor groundhog. They should just leave them alone to come out when they are really ready to!
February 21, 2010 at 1:09 pm #10713BonbonParticipantI went from California to Florida. (I’m NW of Ft. Lauderdale…Coral Springs.) But, not knowing how old you are, do you remember the seven-year drought we had, I think it was the late 70s? Boy, talk about water rationing. No water in fountains, no watering lawns (at ALL!), no washing cars (except on a lawn). People were saving gray water to use on their plants and the popular slogan was, "Save water, shower with a friend." Another was, "If it’s yellow, let it mellow, if it’s brown, flush it down.)
They said the other day this has been the coldest winter in 30+ years. I believe it. I went to a fancy anniversary party the other night, wearing a sleeveless dress and didn’t have a coat to wear! Not even any kind of wrap. I ended up wearing a velveteen jacket that I usually wear with jeans. Nobody laughed at me so I guess it passed for velvet. It’s supposed to be back up in the low 80s today. YAY! ! ! ! !
February 21, 2010 at 7:56 pm #10715PattiParticipantbut unfortunately it’s not. My street didn’t even see a snow plow until last week, and my lawn is still completely covered. It has been very cold here, but the last few days it has warmed up into the high 30-s to mid 40’s, so we are getting some slow melting. HOWEVER, guess what’s predicted for next week??? You guessed it……more snow. It’s like the gift that keeps on giving, and frankly I wish the snow gods would take it back.
