new shows. Anybody see anything they’re really crazy about?
I’ve watched Revolution, 666 Park Ave. and Las Vegas and can’t say I’m really crazy about any of them. I’ll try Chicago Fire and Nashville tonight and see if they are any better. I can’t even get into Once Upon a Time yet either. Maybe once I’ve seen half a dozen of the new shows they might grow on me but, right now…meh!
I’m beginning to think all the good dramas are on HBO and I don’t subscribe to it. They sure took home all the Emmys. And the problem with most of them is if you don’t start watching from the beginning, you don’t really know what’s going on.
October 10, 2012 at 4:04 pm #35840MKParticipantI feel the same way, Bonbon, about the new shows. I watched one episode of Revolution and didn’t care for it though I know often times I have to give a show a chance by watching more than one episode but I don’t want to continue watching. I watched Made in Jersey and thought it was just okay but probably won’t watch again. I watched one episode of the comedy The Neighbors but it wasn’t funny at all. I was so excited for 666 Park Avenue and will keep watching but I’m not ga ga over it but it’s the only new show that looks somewhat promising. It’s kind of a relief to me that I’m not watching any new shows except for one since I’m already DVRing my "old" shows like crazy. So I guess to answer your question, there is not one new show I’m crazy about. Can’t wait for Project Runway this week!!
October 11, 2012 at 12:47 am #35849DeeLanParticipantWe were so hoping for some good new shows this season but nope, ain’t happening. We’re still watching our favorites such as Greys Anatomy, Private Practice (I watch, Don doesn’t), Warehouse 13, Blue Bloods, The Mentalist as possibly a couple of others. Don can’t wait until next week when The Walking Dead starts (I go in another room when that’s on). I also watch Restaurant Impossible. Early 2013 Southland starts which Don watches alone. Game of Thrones will be on later next year and hopefully The Network will be back.
October 11, 2012 at 10:07 am #35855BonbonParticipantand it was pretty good storywise and acting but I don’t know that I want to put up with so much bad music. I don’t like C&W at all and what they did have was horrible so may drop that one. I recorded Chicago Fire so will have to see what that one is all about.
I look forward to a lot of the cable shows, Burn Notice, Suits, Fairly Legal and a couple of the reality shows…Cake Boss and The Little Couple.
I just can’t stand watching any of the sitcoms because they seem to be so outlandish and the acting is way over the top I don’t find them funny. My son tells me it’s probably because I’m getting old. Could be.
I watched Modern Family last night because I figured it won so many Emmys, it must be good. Well, it’s the second time I watched it and, although it had some good stuff, not enough that I’ll watch it again. Thank goodness for my Kindle.
October 11, 2012 at 11:52 am #35859annieoParticipantI "sorta watched it" last night and thought it was pretty lame. I didn’t see the premier show but they are really trying to push it because of where it is in the time slot between The Middle and Modern Family, both of which we watch. I really liked Suburbatory last year and I guess next week it starts AFTER Modern Family. I think the network is hoping that keeping The Neighbors at the current time slot that it will catch on. I’m going to use that time to get ready for bed!
October 11, 2012 at 1:11 pm #35869PattiParticipantI think this show’s going to be a winner!
October 11, 2012 at 1:12 pm #35870BonbonParticipantand thought it was a good concept and kind of funny but not something I care to watch on a regular basis. I love how they are all named after sports figures. Whoever writes this show has some imagination!
October 11, 2012 at 1:13 pm #35871MKParticipantPatti, what did you think of 666 Park Avenue? Did you watch it?
October 11, 2012 at 1:17 pm #35872MKParticipantI love, love, love The Middle! Last night’s episode was even better than usual. This show doesn’t get all the praise that Modern Family gets. I just don’t get it because it’s a great show. I’ve been watching Modern Family again and think it’s pretty funny but I like The Middle better. Didn’t watch The Neighbors cause I didn’t think it would get any better.
October 11, 2012 at 3:35 pm #35883PattiParticipantit didn’t pull good ratings. Personally, I like this show, but then I love these kind of macabre shows. Wish it wasn’t premiered on Sunday night during the fall, because most of these shows are passed up due to the Sunday Night Football game time slot, which normally runs over, and people just don’t seem to want to switch in the middle to watch a new show on another network. I’m hoping 666 Park Avenue is given more of a chance to progress before the real plots arrive behind the story lines with The Drake Hotel itself and the antics behind it’s owners, Terry O’Quinn and Vanessa Williams, two actors I really like a lot. Vanessa stole the show for me many times over in Desperate Housewives.

October 11, 2012 at 7:09 pm #35888DeeLanParticipantNot too much but I do like Restaurant Impossible, Diners Drive-ins and Dives and once in a while I’ll watch Good Eats (yes I know they’re all reruns but I still like Alton Brown.
October 12, 2012 at 8:20 am #35894BonbonParticipantI like Alton Brown too and I enjoy the scientific part of his food preparation. His show is certainly unique.
October 12, 2012 at 8:26 am #35895BonbonParticipantand it was pretty good. I don’t know how many buildings they are going to be able to burn up during the run of the show though. Those didn’t look like "props" on a sound stage although I know they can do a lot with CGI.
I also found it to be very intense and had to relax my stomach muscles again when the commercial came on. However, a lot of what happened in the first episode came directly from the movie Backdraft. Looks like there will be a lot of backstories.
