And I have never tried to like the Florida teams. They always say you can take the girl out of Pittsburgh, but you can’t take the Pittsburgh out of the girl. It is such a true statement. I am a diehard Pittsburgh sports fan no matter what. Even with the Pirates being awful, I still go to Pirate games when I make it up to Pittsburgh. But Football is my favorite sport. Heck, my hubby is from Philly and he roots for Pittsburgh teams more than Philly teams. It is bad with the husband switches teams, normally it is the other way around.
To someone else, so I don’t have to post two messages. I also enjoyed this Superbowl and I also wanted the Saints to win. Mainly because I didn’t like what Indy did in the regular season. I am sorry, as professionals you do not lay down and die two games before the season is over. You go for the record and try to win all games. Also, the Saints have never won, so I also liked them for that reason.
February 21, 2010 at 9:55 pm #10710DeeLanParticipantI’m from Chicago and hubby’s from Kansas City, MO. We’ve lived in Southeast Alabama going on 10 years. No pro teams here, it’s College all the way which neither of I can get into but most of people around here that are into pro ball are Fl fans. We’re both loyal to our the teams we grew up with and that will never change evern thouth he keeps TRYING to convert me over to the Chiefs it’s still ‘Da Bears’ Baby.
February 22, 2010 at 12:19 am #10719ellenkbParticipantDo I remember you saying you have an ice cream store…
Will be at the Rennaissance by Sea World for the first 5 days at a meeting then at Disney through Memorial Day. JennM and I got together in Atlanta when I was there for the same meeting a couple years ago – would love to meet you!
Right – you are from Pittsburgh – my daughter is a junior at UPitt!
February 22, 2010 at 12:19 pm #10722BonbonParticipantHoly moly! My son lives in Deltona so I’m up that way a lot. If you own an ice cream store, we could become really good friends!
But seriously, when I used to post to another group (for 12 years!), six of us got together several times. First in San Francisco, then Orlando, then Las Vegas. It was so much fun finally meeting people we had known for so long but never met. But I know some people are not comfortable with that so you have to respect their wishes.
Actually, there was another guy on that group in Orlando that owned a hair salon and a young female teacher also. (Orlando must be big on Days Of Our Lives.) But we just never connected with them. And the guy had the greatest sense of humor, I would have loved to have met him. And KAT lives up that-a-way too. (Haven’t seen much of her for a while.)
February 22, 2010 at 7:00 pm #10730IzzyBParticipantWell the economy in our area forced us to close the shop several months ago. Our area got hit really hard because it was a lot of new construction, investers, and we live in that stupid Army bombing range. So we have a ton of foreclosures in our area and many neighborhoods are 35% empty. So we didn’t have enough costumers. A bunch of places have closed in our area.
When is your conference in May? We have a wedding in May to go to in Houston, so not sure if I will be around. But if I am, we should convince Bonbon to come up too

February 22, 2010 at 11:09 pm #10740Ms. JakeParticipantUmmm…getting back to the subject…(since I’m more of a baseball fan) lol, I think it’s stupid they put Phillip & Melanie together, they ffwd their relationship and we’re supposed to think she is the "love" of his life?????She’s so young looking for him, and how could he get over Stephanie thatfast???I for one, liked Stephanie & Phillip, she kept him in line…a bit. He needs to be focused and straight foward with the woman he loves…otherwise he reverts to being selfish and coneiving and can turn his behavior to be deceitful, much like his father.
February 22, 2010 at 11:58 pm #1074453tdogsParticipantwas going to aerate Vivy’s scalp today – it was a good scene – as much as I love Auntie Viv, it was good to see Phillip rip into her…she deserves it. Phillip and Mel have chemistry – (Mel brings out Phillip’s character more than him just smiling and showing his dimples). Given the time to let them develop and get them into some good story lines behind them, I think they could blossom as a formidable and interesting couple. Maybe – since the writer’s did FF’d their SL from last year, that it will continue to get better as time progresses. Phillip, I think, if given half a chance will get out from under Victor’s shadow and become his own man. Mel, I didn’t like at all when she first came on board, but now I think that she can hold her own; that is if the writer’s quit making her a helpless little baby.
I didn’t start watching the show when Bo and Hope were just begining, but I’m sure it took time for the sparks to develop and the stories to get more involved as time went by. And isn’t Hope suppose to be a bit younger than Bo? So given that Phillip is older than Mel is OK to me.
Stephanie is like bland milk toast to me in spite of the writer’s trying to drum some ooooooommmph in her story lines…she just isn’t watchable to me. The character doesn’t work, even back when she was a red-headed (another actress) race car driver, a college student, or a Titan "business woman". I’d rather see her go to Switzerland or London.
February 23, 2010 at 1:16 am #10750ellenkbParticipantI will get in Friday night, 5/21 and will leave on 5/31 so we should be able to swing something. Will be at the Rennaissance 5/21 until Wednesday then transfer to the Port of Orleans at Disney.
February 23, 2010 at 12:53 pm #10753luckeyParticipantalthough I would like to see her acting more mature and stop with the facial contortions. She’s a good actress, but the gyrations of her face demean her acting. I mean no offense, but I can’t imagine that an acting coach wouldn’t be advising her in that direction.
February 23, 2010 at 1:57 pm #10758PattiParticipantthis darker side of her makes me dislike her even more. Stephanie Johnson should be a strong, determined, independent character, and not the pathetic, willing-to-settle as second choice character that she has suddenly morphed into. At some point in time the contents of that letter will be revealed to Nathan, and that will be the end of this couple, and perhaps even Philip and Melanie. I don’t know why DOOL has to rush its couples into these ‘test of chemistry’ relationships, only to have them decide the chemistry just doesn’t work. Stephanie and Phillip are a much stronger couple than Phillip and Melanie, and Nathan and Mel are far better together than Nathan and Steph; however, as usual, that’s just my opinion. All in all, I liked the show yesterday. There were some good, strong acting scenes …. and then there was Melanie. I couldn’t tell if she was laughing or crying hysterically; either way it was annoying and OTT for me. Talk about contorting facial expressions, Bo could take some lessons as well. He is comical sometimes with his teeth-clenched expressions. But, once again, Victor stole the line of the day……"you’re like the 3 Stooges on crack…. (LOL) … I just sit back and wait for his lines when he’s on.
February 23, 2010 at 5:08 pm #10768IzzyBParticipantMy wedding is at the beginning of May. So I should be available. Maybe we should move this to off-topic and talk about it closer to May. I live closer to the airport, but around Disney works for me, I am about 30 minutes from there, which we go out their often, so I don’t mind the travel.
Not sure about Bonbon though.
February 23, 2010 at 5:16 pm #10770BonbonParticipantI’d much prefer Stephanie with Philip and Melanie with Nathan. But you know we viewers never get what we want.
And I don’t know why I seem to be so far out in left field when it comes to Stephanie. I like her and don’t find her to be anywhere near as annoying as most of the rest of you do. I thought she loved Philip a lot and was very hurt when their engagement didn’t work out. And I also thought she was very wise to break it off if it was apparent Philip wasn’t going to go the straight and narrow. It would only lead to a life of unhappiness for her.
That said, putting her with Nathan (AND her professing her love for him to others) is just totally ludicrous. I think you’re right, they throw these people in the test-the-chemistry-waters way to quickly and don’t yank them back out soon enough when it doesn’t work out. Oh, well! We’ve weathered worse than this in the past. I’m sure things will get better eventually.
February 23, 2010 at 7:00 pm #10771ellenkbParticipantI am friends with JennM, teapot, jarnold, metsfanrachel, and DP – it’s really fun! How do I email you offline?
February 23, 2010 at 7:08 pm #10772IzzyBParticipantMy real name is Robin Fudali, you can look me up. Just make sure you tell me who you are in the message, because I decline people I don’t know their name
