John and Marlena are not young even by soap standards. Actually I think they are being used about as realistically as possible. I have enjoyed their scenes and them being back on the show. Corday said he was returning romance to the show and I think he has done that.
Remember the quickest way to put a character on the back burner or gone for good is to give them happiness. Happiness means no storyline on a soap.
If Brady wants to hide the fact that Chloe was "working" he could just say the attacker thought she was a prostitute based on the way she was dressed.
Joe is probably taking a vacation. They have to shake things up a bit. I remember seeing him in the promo when the Horton Square is opened and EJ announces his plan to run for mayor. The character looks fine there.
Why can’t Stefano and Elvis be arrested for kidnapping Rafe. He remembers the kidnapping. I know the cell downstairs has been removed but it is at least more than nothing.
You know its interesting many of us complain that soap stars don’t get enough mainline exposure on talk and entertainment programs. We also complain when DAYs stars don’t get to step out of character on the Daytime Emmys and most just take up space in their seats.
Todays show gave us a chance to see the actors stretch their abilities and interact with other cast members in situations they would never otherwise get a chance to do. Even though I wouldn’t want a steady diet of it like the mobster sub storyline they did a couple of years ago I thought today’s episode was great. If this is what it took to give Roman some screentime I am all for it as a one day special.
The writers will have to involve John quickly when he returns. With the tightening of the cast the two most realistic options would be involvement with Brady’s situation of with Stefano. Either one should be interesting.
Jack is probably going to be around for awhile. The Jack, Jennifer, Dr Dan triangle is on its way. There is probably a lot more to Jack’s disappearance than just the "walkabout" .
The Melanie "Nurse Practitioner" storyline is science fiction. Give her a consistent personality or git rid of her.
Brady is doing very little. Involve him with John or turn the business back to Victor and get rid of the character.
Kate no longer has any chidren to deal with. Ship her off to see Billie for awhile.
It sounds like the head writing team change means a softening of the Will gay storyline. If it doesn’t pan out Will will probably go live with his dad for awhile.
Bring back John first. On two legs recovered from his accident, let him have some time with Brady getting his act together and then have him get Marlena back to help clean up Sammi’s mess. This could be a short plot line that would bring the characters back center stage. I believe John and Marlena were misused for a long time simply because there were other character plot lines that needed to be explored.
I read in Soap Opera Digest where she said she was hired for 25 shows. I don’t think she has done that many this go round. She is probably off for awhile and then brought back to finish up.
You don’t just walk off a Federal job. You actually have to submit paperwork to personnel, get debriefed etc.

When the race car driver Stephanie was recast and the stewardess Stepanie (current actrees) replaced her the character went from a fun loving free spirit to an air head sexpot.
This character has really been mishandled and should have left town with Patch and Kayla. It would have been better to introduce a new female character with the current paronia problems. The writers have ruined Stepahie Johnson as she was originally introduced as an adult actress.
The mirror will come into play somehow in the answer to the shooting. That was a very unusual camera shot, particularly to be used several times.
Sammi wanted to shoot EJ at the the moment the gun was fired whether she actually did it or not, she thinks she did.
If she left the gun on the bed and wiped her prints it could have looked like a suicide attempt. Any halfway rational person trying to kill someone would have thought of that. This scenario was played out specifically for a continued plot line.
Between his intoxication and trauma from the gunshot EJ is probably not going to remember anything about the incident. He couldn’t even remember anything after he was mugged.
I think that if Arianna goes (and there is not a recast) then the rest of the family is not far behind. This is not the first time Days has tried to introduce a new family and it didn’t work out. The only thing Rafe has to do now is to continue to investigate the baby kidnapping. The writers have gone about as far as they can without allowing someone to be brought to justice. If Anna is caught then EJ goes down. I figure the whole baby kidnap storyline will fade away.
