Who was born with defective arms/hands.  Perhaps her mother took Thaladimide, I’m not sure, never asked, but she’s the right age, and her condition is similar to other folks I’ve known/seen whose mothers took Thalidamide in the 60s, and it typically caused defects in the extremities (arms and legs either malformed, or missing).  Her arms are very short, and on one hand she only has 2 fingers.

    So when we’re high-fiving, we’ll tell her… "Gimme 2!"

Most folks I know that have disabilities – either from birth, or injury, are pretty cool about it.

Not everybody can wear one of those Audrey Hepburn type shifts.

    I thought she looked awesome.

Well I used to hang out with a guy who was an amputee (leg, just below the knee), and the first time we all went out for a beer after work, he sat down, whipped off the leg, held it up in the air, and called to the waitress, "Fill it up, Sam!"

No it’s not ‘politically correct’, but I don’t think I’ll go to hell for thinking the joke was funny.  People need to lighten up.

I know a young man about 20 who had his right foot amputated last year (he was born with a congenital defect), and he makes jokes all the time.

I think I’d rather see people laugh at themselves, and others with them, than ignoring the elephant in the room.

Of course on DOOL, the writers AND the actor seem to have forgotten that the character of Phillip is an amputee – which makes more of an offensive mockery of the situation, than a bit of humour, IMO.

And seriously, I’d prefer to see someone age normally, than be "altered" to look artificially young.

I didn’t think JLB looked bad.  She’s 61 and IMO looks just fine.

Yes, you sure can tell that time has passed – 80s big hair and such – but I think time has been kind to just about everyone.

And yes, Lisa Trusel is very tall – I remember that from way back.  Her character was a dancer at one point, and I remember thinking she was too tall to be a dancer :)

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sami_Brady

….John Roman Roberts later John Roman DiMera called Johnny, after her father Roman Brady and step-father John Black. Sami originally planned on naming her son Roman Thomas Roberts after her father and Lucas grandfather Thomas Horton, as he was "called" during her pregnancy and the little girl that was originally to be named Colleen Marlena Roberts, Lucas names Alice Caroline Roberts called Allie, after Sami and Lucas’s paternal grandmother’s. After the birth, Johnny is revealed to be E.J.’s son and Allie is revealed to be Lucas’s daughter. Later on, a vendetta occurs between the Bradys and the DiMeras, so Sami had to create peace by annulling her marriage with Lucas and marry E.J. as a way of protecting her family.

Gianni is an form of "John".

    So is Giovanni.

:::confused::: I wish they’d just pick one.  Or call him by his given name, "Johnny".

Gianni.  I heard somebody else say it too but I forget whom.

I’ve heard the name before, but I forget what nationality (Portuguese maybe… I knew a kid by that name, and there was a large Portuguese/Portuguese-Brazllian population where I grew up).

I’m thinking that since Chloe is now in a VERY similar situation to Carly now (being pregnant with what will likely be another man’s child) and with how Carly ended up… Carly will probably keep her mouth shut.

You KNOW what both Chloe and Phil are thinking… "Oops, what if?"

Of course Daniel is blissfully ignorant.

This child’s survival will be integral to the storyline, so she’ll probably remain pregnant for a year or two (!!) and Phil will be wanting to claim his DNA and will probably be all over Chloe to get a paternity test, but at the same time, not want to let the proverbial cat out of the bag and ruin his marriage – so there’s a potential source of conflict and angst for Philly-boy for the next 20 years or so…

Anybody wanna bet that’s how it goes?

I could be wrong here, but I *think* he went to take a nap, and never woke up.

Mac Carey’s passing was sudden and unexpected, but IIRC, they did a nice job paying tribute to him too.

They (people who work or worked at DOOL) say that Mac’s spirit still lingers around the studio, and odd things happen from time to time.

Jason47 posted that Roark wasn’t available to tape when the others were.  They likely shot his scenes later, and inserted them into "that day".  Only Bill and Jen came to see him at the hospital – there were probably others "at the funeral" that have already left by the time Roark arrived to tape.

Where I grew up (where my Mom still lives, that had the quake yesterday) we’d often hear reports of small temors but I’d never felt one – usually they happened at night and I’d sleep through them.

There have been a couple reported here in GA since I moved here – again, never actually felt it.

A few years ago I was in Florida – Orlando actually, for a trade show.  It was Sunday morning,  I was up and ready to check out of the Disney hotel I was staying in – and go down to the trade show but I was a bit early so I was sitting on the bed watching TV waiting to leave.  Suddenly the bed started rocking back and forth (and I was alone!)  At first I thought maybe it was the housekeeping cart rolling by (but it’s a concrete building – I was on the second floor) – I briefly thought it might be an earthquake, but I’ve never heard of quakes in FL so I just kind of dismissed it.

A bit later I overheard the hotel staff talking about it – apparently it was a 5.8 magnitude, off the coast, in the gulf somewhere off Ft. Myers.  I was quite a distance away from the epicenter, but I definitely felt it – probably a good 15 to 20 seconds.

So not to alarm you – but there are earthquakes in Florida!

Let us not forget that Julie is both Hope’s half-sister AND step-mother.

In Salem, the family tree is a stick.  The family tree does not fork.

    Just sayin’….

If Days forgot that Phil lost a leg (and apparently the actor has forgotten too), then surely he can suddenly regain his fertility.

And as far away as Toronto, London, Ontario, and even Ohio.

Not a huge quake, but big by local standards.  Some of my friends had broken glassware, pictures fell off the wall and such.

Some places closer to the epicenter had more damage, a bridge collapsed (with a man fishing off it – he had to swim to safety!)

People are still talking about it today – it really shook people up, both figuratively and literally.
