mshults60Participant
Thanks, Bonbon for mentioning this again—Since I am retired I usually watch the show live while eating my lunch—-I was totally disgusted again yesterday at the amount of time they give this stupid commercial. I have started to just "put my head down" or walk away—can’t stand to look at it anymore. I wonder if they have gotten any mail on this?? Well, we can only hope. Has anyone noticed if it is on much at night or are they just torturing us????
mshults60ParticipantYep, it was back during every break that I saw. However, since they didn’t cut away from the tennis match until twenty after one, not sure how many times it would have been on. Hope this goies away soon.
mshults60ParticipantThank goodness someone else noticed that crazy commercial–It used to be on a couple of years ago and I hated it and got sick of it them and I couldn’t believe it was back!! Why do they do that?? That many times during just one program. OK, time for Days, let’s hope it’s gone today.
mshults60ParticipantSince you guys started talking about commercials, I have wondered what you thought about that commercial for blue jean diapers for babies. That is the cutest little guy struting along like James Bond in his blue jean diaper, but how strange is that line—"I poo in blue"??? I just thought it was really weird.
mshults60ParticipantWhen was the last time we can all remember they took the trouble to explain anything to the viewers????
mshults60ParticipantI’m going to be 71 this year–Yikes. Maybe it has to do with the part of the country we are in. I’m in Houston, Texas—-That might explain all the gals back then drinking straight out of those long necks. My Dad’s place didn’t have any of the tap beer—all bottles for beer and sodas. (Remember that wonderful Grapette in those small bottles??) I remember they did have some plastic-type cups with beer logos on them and some of the gals did use those. And there was a real "ice house" outside that stored the blocks of ice. This was chipped up with those old style ice picks and used to keep all those bottles cold in big coolers. Gotta love the old days.
mshults60ParticipantMy Mom and Dad owned an "ice house/beer tavern" in the 1940s and 1950s. Let me assure you that all the women drank beer from the bottles even then. Things weren’t so "uptight" in those days about drinking in front of children, etc..–and we all grew up just fine and dandy. These days I’m sure I would be barred from even entering the place. However, those were some of the best folks I have ever known. I grew up there from age 8 until I married. I guess you could say they helped me grow up. Teasing me about my grades and then about my teen-age crushes. I miss them all.
mshults60ParticipantSo happy to find this here this morning as I was fussing seeing only one spot with those lovely animals. I thought I must have missed them but now I find that was the only one—how sad is that?? I loved those most of all. Wonder what happened?? My fave of all time was the one after 9/11 when they "bowed" on their knees while facing NYC. That was just beautiful.
mshults60ParticipantMy pension check was 36 dollars less due to more taxes. Are you retired?? No one has mentioned anything about more taxes—I thought they were due to remain the same or be even less. Anyone know what’s up with that???

They present a whole page of items that are included in the sale and if you purchase "any" of the ten then you will get the sale price on the items, other wise the price is the usual price. I just hate that because some of the items might be something I use a lot but all the other stuff would go to waste. Then they have this type of sale a number of times during the month which means you would have to buy another 10 items included in that week’s sale. Who needs that many groceries or has that much storage space. They just want to sell lots of inventory. Hate it, hate it, hate it.

The local supermarkets seem to have this new idea that to get the "sale" price on an item we have to purchase 10 or more items that are included in the special sale. If I just need one or two items on sale I am out of luck. I truly HATE this new practice. We are both seniors and retired and don’t need all that much food just to get the sale prices on soap or tissues. Most of the items are cookies and junk food. I know they are just trying to sell more items but I don’t even have that much storage space for all that stuff. I am in Houston, do you guys find them doing this where you live????
mshults60ParticipantNothing like my old vcr—still works fine except when I forget to set it!!! It is so sad that we have to keep replacing technology all the time. I know my days with the old equipment are numbered so I’ll just enjoy it while it lasts.
mshults60ParticipantShe has won twice—the other one was for Best Supporting
Actress in 1980 for Kramer vs Kramer.
mshults60ParticipantI started watching "soaps" before my daugher was born in 1960. In those days most new wifes didn’t work, so, I started on the soaps as I didn’t have a car to use. Then when "Days" started I started right along with it. Like some of you, I missed a few when I went to work and no one had heard of a VCR!!! I will turn 70 in April–who knows what happened to all those years—gone with the wind, as the saying goes.
Safe New Year to all
