At least, I’m pretty sure I read it somewhere! LOL!
PattiParticipant!!! Thanks mommytutu!
PattiParticipantthe game with the Steelers, with RGIII starting instead. I’m betting Lamar will be like a cat on a hot tin roof on those sidelines, but he said he’ll do what’s best according to the coaches and for the team, but his love of the game may show his disappointment. RG knows he has to go out there and execute in order to prove to himself and to the team that he’s ready to be a starter again, although that may not be with the Ravens unless Lamar gets an injury that won’t allow him to play. He’ll also be playing without some of Baltimore’s top weapons, such as running back Mark Ingram and guard Marshall Yanda, who will also be rested. With the Steelers having the league’s No. 4-ranked defense, Griffin certainly has his work cut out for him on Sunday. The Steelers are fighting for their playoff lives, and they’ll be bringing everything they have in this final game. Now it’s time to see what Griffin can do with a full workload and a game plan tailored for him instead of for Lamar. If things go his way, it could turn out to be a great opportunity for him. So fingers crossed for him and the Ravens on Sunday!!!
PattiParticipantRyan’s Hope was one of my older favorites, along with Search for Tomorrow and The Guiding Light. Now those were the days when soap writers’ storylines were pure gold!
PattiParticipantthe sooner we get better writers, the happier I’ll be. This show, along with the other 3 soaps left on the air, and boring, uninteresting, repetitive, and at most times downright annoying. Yes, the time jump has not only worn off, it has become ridiculous with who has been victimized by it, and sorry folks, but that’s just lazy writing. It started out good, but has turned into the "road to hell", lined with good intentions but reaching the end of it is what most people I know want to see. I am quite serious about leaving it if things don’t turn around by the end of this year, or early next year….very early. I do not intend to keep torturing myself with Carlivati and his, what I like to call, pure "bullshit" writing. He and his staff have ruined Days of our Lives as far as I am concerned.
PattiParticipantI sent you a congratulatory message earlier this morning giving kudos to the Jags and the Paks win. It was combined with my message to casey and the Bills win. Guess you missed it. Didn’t want you to think I wasn’t thinking of your favorites. In any case, the Pack win was expected, but the Jags was a nice surprise.
PattiParticipantIt was a nail biter, but an interesting one that kept me on the edge of my seat more than once throughout the game. Josh Allen has convinced me that he has no place to go but up. He’s just what is needed in a QB; a big, strong powerful body with legs to match, and a throwing arm with accuracy that will only get better with each game. They will be a threat for quite some time as this young man becomes more and more of a ‘leader’! Great game!
Also, hats off to the Pack for their win over the Bears, and a nice surprise, Powerpaws, and let’s throw some kudos to the Jags for a win over the Raiders. Looks like we all had a good day yesterday, especiall the Ravens, because we got a well deserved REST!
PattiParticipantbut I fast forward through sls I’m not interested in, and like I mentioned, soaps are ALL so bad right now that I find myself believing with all my heart that this is a dying genre and soon to be no more! It’s a shame, because there was a time when I used to come home from work on my lunch hour just to watch. Then when they started putting them on my DVR, I just tape and watch when I can or when I’m interested in what’s happening. I do check the spoilers, and that helps me decide whether I want to watch or just erase. LOL!
PattiParticipantthe place where we watched the game with the Jets were literally SCREAMING at the TV when it was determined (I would imagine at Lamar’s request) that Lamar continue into the 4th quarter. I mean, not that the Jets D would ‘intentionally’ try to hurt Lamar with some kind of improper tackle, but why take a chance that ANYTHING could happen that would sideline him, even if it were an accidental move that he, himself, could make, like a twisted ankle or some other move, like one of our own guys falling on him the wrong way just trying to protect him. And believe me, they were all ready, willing and able to do just that…protect him! I have to think that it was just because Lamar Jackson is, simply stated, a very humble kid who wasn’t trying to gain more accolades or records, I’m sure. HE JUST LOVES THE GAME! I mean, it wasn’t like R.G.III isn’t an experienced QB who was in danger of losing a 21-point lead. But, thankfully, Lamar agreed to coming out of the game. Anyway, now all we have to worry about is getting one more win in order to get the home field advantage for the playoffs, which hopefully we will do. Anyway, I am a Catholic who prays a lot, so a little "Divine Intervention" perhaps???? I’d like to think so. Hey, maybe the Pope was watching the game, wearing our jersey after-all!!!! LOLOL!!!!
PattiParticipantpowerpaws 2, casey and I have been holding down the "women who love football fort" for quite some time now. It’s great to find another football sister. Please join our weekly talks from now on. Love that you love the Jets. Each of us has our own favorites, and we speak our minds on their successes and failures, and have a great time discussing our hopes and dreams for our favorite teams. Whether they perform well or horrible, we love them and when they do well they get our praise, but when they do not perform, we are sometimes more critical than the coaches and the media. So, by all means, join us and we’ll follow the Jets like we follow one another’s teams throughout their season, whether it’s good or not so good. They are "our" team, and when they deserve our praise, we love putting them on a pedestal; however, when they are not giving it their best, we may comment in the negative; but, the one thing we do NOT do is throw the baby out with the bathwater. They are still our team. Looking forward to hearing from you whenever you want to jump in.
PattiParticipantjust indicated that something "BIG" was happening then, which by then will probably amount to a big return or exit in one way or another. Whatever it is, if it’s more disappointment, that may be my farewell, either from me or from the show itself. Maybe they’ve been lying to us all along, and DOOL is hanging it up. All I do recognize from watching (taping) all 4 soaps every day is that every damn one of them are a lot worse than better, from the writing to the sls, and even the acting. I can’t help but wonder if perhaps that’s why a lot depends on when new contracts are offered, who will accept and who will reject, or who will or will not even get an offer. So until we know more, I will just say "hope to be staying in touch after the New Year."
PattiParticipantSteve Johnson portraying Stefano DiMera, Kayla Brady Johnson in the arms of Justin Kiriakis, Hope Brady and her phony Princess Gina accent, Gabi Hernandez now owning the DiMera mansion, and now Kate Roberts in cahoots with Stefano DiMera, trying, very unconvincingly, wondering how in the hell they don’t break up every time they have to say their lines, I have to admittedly realize what a comedic insult this show is turning out to be! New Year’s Eve cannot get here fast enough if I’m going to continue torturing myself. Sorry, but NOT SORRY!
PattiParticipantand could not say enough about his respect for Josh Allen and the Bills. He likes Josh a lot, and has no doubt about his future with the Bills. He believes he’s with the right team, and personally I couldn’t agree more. Once he feels out a teams defensive moves and how to get around them, I guarantee he will show some great moves himself, and we know, as will every other team, just how difficult he will be to take down once he perfects his run game. I’m seeing him right up there when it comes to the success of these young QBs today.
On a sadder note, I suspected, but now I’m sure and so is Lamar and some of our defensive starters that teams may be intentionally going after his legs with the low tackles, which is pretty dangerous to him. He’s nursing a bad quad bruise today which, although resulting in a 15 yard penalty for roughing the passer at the time, has him now questionable for Thursday night, although I’m betting the farm that unless I see him walk out on crutches, he will be suited up and ready to go against the Jets. I’m just afraid that if some of our big boys think he’s being targeted for injury rather than making a lawful tackle, there will be more fights than I would care to see in football, so I truly hope that doesn’t happen. In any case, it would not surprise me to see R.G. III suited up and ready to go in when or if the need arises.
PattiParticipantthat game yesterday was the toughest, I truly believe, that the Ravens have had to contend with for our win. The Bills and the Ravens QBs had some problems in the first half with the pass. Fortunately, things got a lot better in the secone half. But to me, our Defense won our game, and here’s why. They had Josh Allen literally running for his life practically all day long, and sacked, what, 6 or 7 times on the day? But what your D did to us is keep our running game under control where it was possible for them to catch us and they practically did just that, were it not for that defensive move late in the 4th quarter when Marc Peters broke up Josh’s pass to none other than John Brown to keep him from scoring the TD, which I have no doubt he would have. Great play by Peters. But, as I said, your D kept Lamar down to a few good runs, but nothing like we have seen him do in past games with the Pats, the Seahawks, the Texans, the Rams, so you see, you do have a great team and I read a quote from Josh Allen where he admitted that he is pleased with his progress, but he is still in the "learning" stage of a very early career (as is Lamar), and that the NFL has not seen the best of him……YET! That I am quite sure is true.
Again, some questionable calls made on both sides of the ball to both teams, and I, as a fan, will never be satisfied until the NFL finds a way to school these referees not only on the rules of the game, but what designates the penalty and perhaps explains the rule so that people will not get completely fed up with bad calls. Both teams got some pretty bad calls yesterday, and I am getting a little tired of explaining it away with, "well, we see it in all games all the time." That’s just not good enough. Players have to be taken to task for their mistakes; so should the refs. Some of their blatant mistakes yesterday were not even questioned….just accepted!
The Bills, as far as I’m concerned, had me shaking in my boots yesterday, and I was not satisfied with the "W" until the time ran out completely. A one-score Win is never easy to digest, and I realize it could have gone completely in the opposite direction.
But, a win is a win, and at the end of the day, that’s all that counts. It’s just that in some instances the pride has to be swallowed instead of taking on bragging rights.
Great game…but whatever the outcome, my football sisters, you know I love you both more than my luggage!!!! LOL!!!!
PattiParticipantthe woman cries more than Maggie! Ugh!
