That’s a good point. I would put Melanie’s age right now at around 19-20 and Mia’s at 15-16; that’s a pretty decent time stretch for giving birth. Wouldn’t Vivian know this, too? Or did she just now find out that Carly has a kid? I’m not sure.
spoiledParticipantIsn’t Daniel a little young to be Melanie’s father? Carly’s affair was supposed to be with another Dr., right? Let’s say Daniel is, at the most 38 or 39 (although I suppose he could be in his early 40s). That puts him at around 19 or 20 when he supposedly fathered Melanie. It takes, what, 8 years to get a medical license (4 years of college & 4 years of med school)? The way they stretch ages on this show, I suppose it’s slightly believable if he’s considered to be in his early to mid 40s, but it still seems slightly more believable to me for Mia to be his daughter.
But geez, I can’t stand to watch Mia on screen. She’s as dull as dishwater and could use an acting workshop asap.
spoiledParticipantAs a veteran of this debate, I’ll jump in on this. Under the common law definiition of rape, EJ did technically rape Sami. In many (if not all) jurisdictions, you can criminally prosecute someone for rape under duress. With Lucas being trapped and Sami under a time constraint to find some way to save him, she was clearly under duress. Depending on the jursidiction, and with these facts, a prosecutor would almost certainly go foward with charges of rape against EJ and probably win (or he would have to plea bargain, whatever).
But was it rape emotionally? I think we can look to Sami’s subsequent actions and say that she certainly doesn’t consider it rape. Especially if you compare this time around with how traumatized she was the first time she was raped (which certainly covered any legal and emotional definitions). Or if she ever did believe she was raped by EJ (I believe she did accuse him once), she’s apparently gotten over it. Enough so that she not only had sex with him again, but continues a relationship that is a tad beyond just dealing with him because he is the father of two of her children. So, IMO, she has essentially given up any right to claim EJ raped her as a defense/justiciation to anything she does to him and vice-versa (and it’s interesting to note that she’s never even done that–another indication that she’s not horribly traumatized by her rapist).
