Abby was always a WEAK character. Yes – Kate was a stronger actress but the character of Abby has often been the "victim" and one who hides behind Mama Jen.
I wonder if this writing is less about Marci’s acting ability and more of a way to get the fans to root for Chad and Gabi. I for one prefer them together. I loved Chad with Abby when it was Kate – but Chad has nothing going on with Marci – but him and Camilla have RED HOT SCENES. Their on screen chemistry reminds me very much of Sami & Brandon. Didn’t care much for the relationship – but WOW did they have some on screen fire.
It pains me. Nu Abby and Chad have the chemistry equivalent of watching paint dry. SO boring. And why is she always SO pale looking?!? Red is NOT her color.
Now Chad & Gabi as well as Abby & Dario have MUCH more chemistry. I dunno – Marci is a fine actress thus far (no Kate Mansi obviously but solid) but Chad and her just don’t do it for me. Maybe it’s the recast or maybe it’s chemistry – I dunno.
And at least ELI can act (and is nice to look at.)
Here is if this is an attempt to draw in a younger audience – why?! Teens don’t watch soaps. Teens don’t even watch regular TV. They watch netflix lol. Focus on the core – we are beyond BUILDING an audience – soaps should be in the business of RETAINING an audience.

That a time shift happened in one of the BIGGEST television markets. But maybe it’s nothing.
The WIN here (aside from the aforementioned 1:00 PM presidential interruptions not being an issue) is that DOOL won’t go head to head w/the 2nd half of YR and BB. Maybe people will watch the first half and flip to YR – bolstering the ratings? Who knows.

I mentioned that on this thread too…. but who knows. It’s a big deal for a market like NY. It’s not like it’s changing time slots in Boise, Idaho. I dunno Patti – I’d be shocked if we get a renewal honestly. It’s so darn bad lately – and the writers "promise" all these changes and then we say "I’m waiting for the new writers material" and it never gets better
But the climate was different then – SOAPs weren’t dropping like flies. A lot of soaps suffer time changes before the axe now
And with Meghan whats her face going to NBC…………….. I dunno. I mean Kate’s Abby was sultry/sexy/vixen-ish….. this Abby is frumpy/whiny/debbie downer. It’s a case of the character being recast and rewritten. We’ve seen it before with Austin. Muldoon played him as a tough street boxer and Peck’s version was a dopey nitwit. It happens I guess lol
