A few months ago, an entire episode of DOOL was pre-empted by NBC for a breaking news story. That bumped all the episodes to one day later. The episode shown on Christmas Day was originally scheduled for Christmas Eve.

It’s been mentioned on the show that Tammy Sue (aka Jordan) was five years old when her dad either died or disappeared. Her mom then married Clyde and they had Ollie (aka Ben). Ben was 16 when Jordan took him and ran away from home. I think Ben was beaten as a teenager by his dad, Clyde.

I have my DVR set to record DOOL every day, but for some unknown reason, it doesn’t record it about once a month. Last Thursday, when Gabi said her goodbyes, the show wasn’t recorded. No more SoapNet for reruns, either. On top of that, the sound is not working on my computer, so at nbc.com, all I can watch is a silent DOOL episode (with no closed captions). Bummer.

Scenes like this, where a child is traumatized in some way, are usually shot separately. Allie’s scene was probably shot without a bloody Nick even being there. All they showed was Allie pointing and screaming. After her scene was shot, she would have left the set and then the scene with a bloody Nick was shot. It’s all edited to make it look seamless.

Ralph Waite earned a master’s degree from Yale University Divinity School and was an ordained Presbyterian minister and religious editor at Harper & Row in New York City before deciding on an acting career. Waite was married three times, two marriages ending in divorce. He had three daughters from his first marriage. His eldest daughter died of leukemia when she was nine years old in 1964. After 50 years away from organized religion, Waite returned in 2010 and became an active member of Spirit of the Desert Presbyterian Fellowship in Palm Desert, California. Ralph Waite died peacefully on February 13, 2014, from age-related illnesses; he was 85 years old. (Info from Wikipedia)

When the characters of sister and brother, Kristen and Peter Blake, were first introduced on DOOL, they were adults with their own last name–Blake. We were told that growing up, they were wards of Stefano’s. Then, when Kristen came back to Salem, she had been adopted by Stefano and changed her last name to DiMera. Do adults ever get adopted?

… at the beginning of a scene with a replacement actor/actress, an announcer would say, “The part of ___ _________ is now being played by ___ _____.

Monroe has become my favorite character on Grimm. Like others have mentioned, I think that Juliette and Hank knowing about the Grimm family was a good idea. I look forward to the second half of the season.

I watched the Lucy special. I will not watch any colorized movies, but I wanted to see the Lucy Christmas episode, which is not shown on TV very often. I must say that the colorization process has improved greatly since it was first done, but I still prefer movies and TV shows in their original presentation.

I watched the show. I grew up in the area where the girls were kidnapped. According to Michelle, there were long periods of time when the three girls were kept in separate rooms. Obviously, some of their experiences during those times could have been different, as well as the torture that was similar. Also, once Amanda Berry made it clear in the 911 call exactly who she was, her only thought was hoping that the police would arrive before Castro came back to his house. She knew that if the police rescued her, they would also rescue her daughter and Michelle and Gina.

I really enjoyed the movie. A few months ago, I wondered why Greg Vaughn (Eric Brady) had such a short haircut–now I know–it was for this movie.

My cousin had both knees replaced a few years ago. He’s now 71 and still rides his motorcycle.

Bill Hayes (Doug) is indeed 88 years old (on June 5). Susan Seaforth Hayes (Julie) turned 70 on July 11. They have been married since 1974.
